With Halloween only two weeks away now, that means we have another killer batch of home entertainment releases arriving this Tuesday, primed to get everyone in the mood for the macabre. Cult film lovers should get those wallets ready, as Kino Lorber is keeping busy with The Terror Within II, Revenge of the Dead, and a 4K special edition of RawHead Rex, too.
For those who still venture out into the real world to make their media purchases, Target has the exclusive on season one of Stranger Things that comes in nifty retro packaging, and Criterion has put together a stellar Blu for Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me.
Other notable releases for October 17th include American Gods: Season One, Wes Craven’s Summer of Fear, Red Christmas, Spider-Man: Homecoming, The Honor Farm, and Alfred Hitchcock: The Ultimate Collection.

Back in April, Kino Lorber announced that they would be celebrating the 30th anniversary of Rawhead Rex with a 4K restoration of the Clive Barker-penned film (based on his short story of the same name), and they've now revealed the Blu-ray / DVD cover art, full list of special features, and an October release date for the restoration:
Rawhead Rex will be released on Blu-ray and DVD by Kino Lorber on October 17th. Kino Lorber had previously announced a theatrical release of the 4K restoration, and while we don't have a complete list of screenings, the restored film will be shown at The Hexploitation Film Festival in Hamilton, Ontario on Friday, August 25th.
Below, we have the complete list of special features and a look at the cover art for the new Blu-ray / DVD release of Rawhead Rex:
From Kino Lorber: "Coming October 17th on DVD and Blu-ray!

Lifeforce was a sci-fi horror movie from the guys behind Alien and Poltergeist featuring space vampires. See where studying comets gets you?
This article comes from Den of Geek UK.
In olden times, comets were seen as portents of death and disaster, so goodness knows what they’d have thought of something like the Rosetta mission of a few years back: the ambitious attempt to put a landing craft on the jagged bulk of a comet called Churyumov-Gerasimenko. Our ancestors probably would have thought we were completely mad. Or in league with the devil for creating such advanced machinery in the first place.
Then again, who knows what they would have thought of Lifeforce, the 1985 film about an exploratory mission to Halley’s Comet, which inadvertently causes a trio of space vampires to attack London - and all from the director Tobe Hooper, who brought us The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

While we’e been covering many of the Scream Factory releases for our Us readers, Arrow Video has been releasing horror classics in the UK for a while now and they recently announced their next set of Blu-ray releases. Take a look at release details, cover art, and bonus features for The Fall of the House of Usher, Lifeforce, Deranged, and Squirm. We’ve also included details for Motel Hell, which we covered earlier this week.
Motel Hell: “It takes all kinds of critters to make Farmer Vincent fritters!” cackle the brother-and-sister team behind the finest smoked meats in the county. They also run the friendly Motel Hello (the ‘o’ in the neon sign sometimes goes on the blink), and no matter how many times you’ve seen Psycho or The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, you can be sure that everything will be perfectly above board here as Vincent...

Life-caster John Schoonraad tells us about his work, from Star Wars and Kick-Ass through to Rambo, X-Men and Jim Henson.
“Head on a stick!” I’m sitting opposite life-caster and special effects artist John Schoonraad, and he’s regaling me with a story about the time he made a fake head of Kristin Scott Thomas during the production of The English Patient.
“I did Kristin Scott Thomas’ head on a stick,” Schoonraad says. “You know the albatross on a stick [Monty Python sketch]? I just walked in, shouting, ‘Head on a stick!’ No one knew what was going on.”
This brief tale sums up John Schoonraad’s genuine enthusiasm for his remarkable body of work. He’ll casually mention working on something as jaw-dropping as Return Of The Jedi (“I worked on Jabba the Hutt’s skiff”), and then immediately go on to talk about the years he spent working with Jim Henson (there was,...

As the UK’s Elstree Studios celebrates its 85th birthday, we were lucky enough to look around the place where The Shining and Star Wars were filmed…
It’s hard to believe that a gigantic, empty room could inspire such a rush of geeky joy. But then, this isn’t just any empty room – this is stage eight at Elstree Studios, and the spot on which I’m currently standing, grinning like a lunatic, is where, among many other films, 1981’s Raiders Of The Lost Ark was filmed.
Remember the moment when Indy ran from a gigantic rolling boulder, or the bit where he was lowered into the snake-filled Well of Souls? That was shot here. The sand and snakes are all long gone, of course, but somehow the magic still remains, a miasma that hangs in the air, transforming this enormous yet unassuming space into somewhere utterly remarkable.

Okay, here's the idea behind Zombie Carnage (currently in pre-production but carrying a pretty kick-ass trailer already): Take one part The Running Man, one part Enter the Dragon, add a healthy dose of zombie violence and all the fun of "The Price is Right", and you've got Zombie Carnage.
E=MC2 productions, a UK-based horror production company, is working on Zombie Carnage, its first feature film. Currently raising funds for production, the team has already nailed down some interesting names to attach to the project. Craig Charles (Red Dwarf) and Victoria Hopkins (Dog House and Zombie Women of Satan) will star. Other contributors include Academy Award winner Dave Elsey on make-up, prosthetic master John Schoonraad and F/X supervisor Alex Gunn.
Filmmakers hope to begin shooting the project in early 2012, looking to "create an entertaining blood-pumping thrill ride of a movie that all horror fans will love." Going by the trailer,...

Nazis are back in fashion! Well, in the movies, anyway. For a while it seemed like Second World War movies were history, but there are signs of an upsurge in this sub-genre. And we're not talking Saving Private Ryan or The Thin Red Line here. Filmmakers are suddenly taking the war not quite so seriously again. Currently Inglorious Bastards is getting bums on theatre seats and Tarantino's latest is following in the jackboot steps of Tom Cruise's thriller Valkyrie. Elsewhere on this site, you will find coverage of Iron Sky, a Second World War sci-fi comedy that is on the way from the makers of the Star Wreck series of Star Trek spoofs.
