If the long-gestating Weeds Revival gets the green light, another original star is interested in stepping back into the world of Nancy Botwin.
Elizabeth Perkins appeared in five of eight seasons during the show's initial run on Showtime.
In an interview with Variety, Perkins stressed that the new project was very much "talk" at this early stage in development.
The Afterparty Season 2 star admitted she would be ecstatic to get the opportunity to work with her former co-stars.
"I loved working with Mary-Louise Parker," she added.
"I love those two characters together, Nancy and Celia!"
Indeed, fans would be interested in checking back in with Celia, who was missing from the show's final three seasons.
By the end of Weeds' eight-season run, the series had changed so much that many of the original elements of the show were missing.

As has been teased for several years, a return to the world of Weeds is in the works.
Initially, a sequel series was in the works at Starz, and now, the revival is set to sprout at Showtime.
Deadline says the series is in early development but that Mary Louise Parker is set to return to headline and executive produce.
Additionally, Showtime is also working on an update of Nurse Jackie, with Edie Falco in line to return.
The Weeds sequel will be written and executive produced by Christian Torpe, creator of the popular Danish series Rita, and would feature Nancy (Parker) in Copenhagen, the outlet reports.
Both series are said to be on the fast-track, with an eye of getting them on the air as early as quarter one of 2024.
However, the deals are still being ironed out, and a potential pickup could be contingent on what happens with the Writers Strike.

Exclusive Updated: Showtime is looking to bring back two of its signature comedy series, Nurse Jackie and Weeds. Both hail from Lionsgate Television and former Showtime chief Robert Greenblatt who has a deal at the indie studio.
Reps for Showtime and Lionsgate would not comment but I hear the followups, now in early stages of development, have the original leads, Edie Falco and Mary-Louise Parker, attached to star and executive produce. Sources stress that the projects are still coming together and deals are being negotiated.
The Weeds revival would be written and executive produced by Christian Torpe, creator of the popular Danish series Rita, and would feature Nancy (Parker) in Copenhagen, I hear.
Meanwhile, I hear the Nurse Jackie sequel would be written/executive produced by Abe Sylvia and Liz Flahive who were writers-producers on the original series. The concept is still being finalized.

It’s been nearly four years since we learned that a “Weeds” sequel series was in the works. When Variety exclusively broke the news of the revival in 2019, which was then at Starz, Mary-Louise Parker was set to executive produce and reprise her role as Nancy Botwin in the potential new series. But Justin Kirk, who played her charming and unfiltered brother-in-law Andy Botwin, isn’t so sure about it.
“Even as a fan, do you really want to see us all old and coming back? By the time of Season 8, I don’t think the general idea was, ‘We should keep doing this!'” he told Variety. “Look, I love those people, I love that character. I probably know as much as you do about any future reboots.”
In Variety‘s original report, the logline for the new “Weeds” was: “The new show picks up with the Botwin family...

It may seem mainstream these days, but a sequel to the subversive, Emmy Award winning episodic comedy series "Weeds" continues in development at Starz with Lionsgate Television producing, starring Mary-Louise Parker, 10 years after Season Eight, as the 'Botwin' family adjusts to making a living in a new era of cannabis legalization:
"Weeds" was created by Jenji Kohan, airing on Showtime 2005 to 2012, following central character 'Nancy Botwin' (Parker), a widowed mother with two boys 'Silas' (Hunter Parrish) and 'Shane' (Alexander Gould), who begins selling marijuana to support her family.
Other main characters include Nancy's lax brother-in-law 'Andy Botwin' (Justin Kirk), who moves in to help raise her children, foolish acquaintance 'Doug Wilson' (Kevin Nealon), narcissistic neighbor 'Celia Hodes' (Elizabeth Perkins), Celia's husband 'Dean' (Andy Milder) and their daughter 'Isabelle' (Allie Grant), as well as Nancy's dealers 'Heylia James' (Tonye Patano) and 'Conrad Shepard' (Romany Malco).

Starz boss Jeffrey Hirsch rolled up a few hints about the forthcoming reboot of the Mary-Louise Parker drama Weeds.
Hirsch, president and CEO at the Lionsgate-backed broadcaster, said Tuesday at the TCA winter press tour that there’s a “ton of great stories” to be told given that the world of cannabis has changed significantly since the show debuted in 2005.

Starz is working on a sequel series to Weeds, the Showtime series starring Mary Louise-Parker that ran for eight seasons from 2005-12. The news was revealed on Starz owner Lionsgate’s second-quarter earnings call Thursday.
Lionsgate TV produced the original series, which was created by Jenji Kohan. Louise-Parker is attached to executive produce and star in the new project, which Lionsgate says is in development. Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said during the call that Weeds and fellow Lionsgate TV series Mad Men will also be taken into the syndication marketplace next year.

You guys, this trailer for Olivia Wilde’s new movie A Vigilante is here, and it is freaking amazing. This is pretty much my dream, to be a badass vigilante that takes out abusive men on a power trip, giving them a taste of their own medicine, a la Evelyn Couch from Fried Green Tomatoes when she channels Towanda and says, “…And after I wipe out all the punks of this world, I’ll take on the wifebeaters, like Frank Bennett, and machine gun their genitals. Towanda on the Rampage!” Not that I’ve thought much on the subject… but I digress.
Wilde plays the character Sadie, “who has decided to devote herself to removing domestic abusers, using specific methods to obscure her identity and guarantee they won't return to bother their victims ever again.” The cast also includes Morgan Spector, Tonye Patano, Kyle Catlett, and C.J. "You start to feel like there's no escape." Saban Films has debuted the first trailer for an indie dramatic thriller titled A Vigilante, the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Sarah Daggar-Nickson. This first premiered at the SXSW Film Festival last year to some strong reviews, and has been playing at smaller fests, arriving in Us theaters this March. Olivia Wilde stars as a woman who has decided to devote herself to removing domestic abusers, using specific methods to obscure her identity and guarantee they won't return to bother their victims ever again. The cast includes Morgan Spector, Kyle Catlett, C.J. Wilson, and Tonye Patano. This is definitely a provocative, and maybe controversial film (depending on your views), where violence is being used for good - but this is what makes it an interesting film worthy of your attention. The Sundance Film institute has released the line-up of film for the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. Going to Sundance is one of my favorite events of the year. I love going because you never know what kind of movies you're going to see. Sometimes they are great films that amaze and entertain, other times they completely suck ass, but that's all part of the fun of going to the festival. It's an awesome experience for any hardcore movie geek, and if you ever get a chance to go, you need to.
The event takes place in Park City, Utah next year from January 21st to the 31st. It looks like there's a great line-up of movies at next year's event. My favorite portion of the event is the Midnight section because it deals more with geeky genre type movies, but I also enjoy the various sections of other line-ups.

We might look back to 2015’s 10 film line-up as a true vintage year for the Next section. With the likes of Rick Alverson’s Entertainment, Sebastián Silva’s Nasty Baby, Matt Sobel’s Take Me to the River, Sean Baker’s Tangerine and section winner Josh Mond’s James White, we’d be hard pressed to say that this year’s 10 selected film selection is a better crop, but so far with names such as Tim Sutton and his super secretive third film (Dark Night – see pic above), video helmer we adore in Nicolas Pesce’s debut (The Eyes of My Mother), short film Yearbook fest winner Bernardo Britto’s first (Jacqueline Argentine), big Slamdance home run hitter with The Dirties’ Matt Johnson (Operation Avalanche) and the Venice to Park City bound The Fits from Anna Rose Holmer are all films we eagerly await. Here is the 10 section of what the fest calls “pure,...

Conflict is inevitable when good people do bad things. It shouldn't be much of a surprise then that there is a lot of conflict on "The Americans."
Granted, we're not sure yet, are we, that Philip and Elizabeth Jennings (Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell) are good people. They do have their morals and their patriotism -- both good qualities. Unfortunately, as Kgb agents, they also have to do things that damage everything good inside of them.
What Philip and Elizabeth have to do in "The Clock" has the potential to not only damage but destroy everything. The couple is given an impossible, evil task. They succeed. But is that enough to keep them safe?
"They shouldn't ask us to do impossible things. But we did it."

Holy Smokes! After bringing back the latter part of Weeds Season 7 to the glory days of yesteryear, Jenji Kohan has put a bullet in Nancy Botwin’s (Mary-Louise Parker) head. Who shot Nancy and why? Was it the Mexican cartel, Heylia (Tonye Patano) or any one of Nancy’s past rivals? We may never know. The season finale ended with a green dot on Nancy’s head and a sniper lying in the bushes. Similar to The Sopranos, it presented viewers with an ambiguous ending. It’s as if the creative team wasn’t sure of whether or not Weeds would go on for an eighth season and just decided to go out with a very surprising bang. Should Weeds return, then we’ll learn about the fate of Nancy and her infamous clan. Should Weeds come to a close, then fans got a fitting series finale. All of Nancy...

Puppy love in all its wondrous and awkward glory is given the romantic-comedy treatment in "Little Manhattan", an Upper West Side story cooked up by the husband-and-wife team of Mark Levin and Jennifer Flackett.
While the juvenile performances are bright and engaging, and there's no shortage of genuinely humorous observations about love and life in the Big Apple, there's an inescapable small-screen dynamic to the scope and rhythm of the production.
That effect is further amplified by having those young observations filtered through an adult sensibility but delivered in nonstop narration by its 11-year-old protagonist.
And while it's a technique that worked memorably on television's "The Wonder Years", where Levin was a co-producer, it begins to wear a little thin in a feature format.
Opening this weekend in limited New York engagements, the picture also poses a major marketing challenge for Fox because the stars are a bit on the young side for the usual romantic-comedy female demo, while most kids aren't going to respond to all that icky, lovey-dovey stuff.
Meet Gabe Burton (Josh Hutcherson), an average fifth-grader who's content to hang around with his buddies, play hoops and ride his scooter around his safely removed Upper West Side neighborhood.
Back at home, things are a little more complicated. Even though his parents (Bradley Whitford and Cynthia Nixon) have been separated for more than a year, they still share the same apartment -- welcome to the reality of New York real estate -- as well as the same refrigerator, though the food has been divvied up and identified accordingly.
But Gabe's life really gets thrown for a loop when he is reacquainted with his old nursery school friend, Rosemary (newcomer Charlie Ray), in his karate class, and it's smitten torment all the way.
Striking a balance that seems to fall exactly halfway between "The Wonder Years" and Woody Allen, officially credited screenwriter Flackett and officially credited director Levin keep things on the pleasantly amusing side and coax some winningly winsome performances out of their young leads.
But ultimately, aside from a prevailing vibe that's more sitcom than rom com, there's something a bit precious and restrictively insular about "Little Manhattan"'s Manhattan, a place that has been given the same heavily romanticized and gently sanitized look as those early Allen pictures (with the help of Oscar-nominated "Hannah and Her Sisters" production designer Stuart Wurtzel).
Although the filmmakers have availed themselves of real Gotham locations, their take on modern-day New York -- one in which an 11-year-old's idea of an awesome time is going on a date to hear cabaret singer Loston Harris croon "Teach Me Tonight" -- ends up having all the immediacy and vibrant authenticity of studio backlot tour.
