Pretty much from the moment the sci-fi action classic Predator was released in 1987, fans were wondering what it would be like if the alien hunter from that film were to clash with the xenomorphs from the Alien franchise. Dark Horse Comics dove into the concept right away, publishing their first Aliens vs. Predator story in 1989. It took a lot longer for the battle to reach the big screen, though. Fifteen years longer, in fact. And with the latest episode of the Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? video series, we’re looking into the making of 2004’s Avp: Alien vs. Predator (watch it Here). To find out all about this movie, check out the video embedded above.
Written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, Avp: Alien vs. Predator has the following synopsis:

Oscar-winner Al Pacino and Meadow Williams star in American Traitor: The Trial of Axis Sally, the historical drama hitting select theaters this Memorial Day weekend via Vertical Entertainment and Redbox Entertainment. Michael Polish directed the film, which is based on a true story and follows the life of American woman Mildred Gillars (Williams) and her lawyer (Pacino), who struggle to redeem her reputation.
Dubbed “Axis Sally” for broadcasting Nazi propaganda to American troops during World War II, Mildred’s story exposes the dark underbelly of the Third Reich’s hate-filled propaganda machine, her eventual capture in Berlin, and subsequent trial for treason against the United States after the war.
Mitch Pileggi, Thomas Kretschmann, Lala Kent, Carsten Norgaard, and Swen Temmel round out the cast. The pic, which is based on William E. Owen’s novel, Axis Sally Confidential, is also available on-demand. William and Vance Owen’s book Axis Sally Confidential,...

In 1981’s “Lili Marleen,” directed by German provocateur R.W. Fassbinder, the titular song is repeatedly played to an imprisoned man in an effort to break his spirit. In “American Traitor: The Trial of Axis Sally,” it takes only one rendition to have much the same effect on the viewer, though that may be because by the time Mildred Gillars (Meadow Williams) performs it at some Nazi Party party, we’ve already had an hour of this utterly absurd movie, and are ready to crack.
Clumsy, campy and kitsch, but also deadeningly dull for long stretches, “American Traitor” is directed by Michael Polish (“The Astronaut Farmer”) and based on the true story of radio star Gillars, aka Axis Sally, an American wannabe actress who found notoriety as the English-language voice of the Third Reich’s propaganda machine. But the film swings very wide of recorded history, especially in terms of...

"I did what I could to survive..." Vertical Entertainment has released the official trailer for a legal drama called American Traitor: The Trial of Axis Sally, the latest from director Michael Polish. An American woman named Mildred Gillars, played in this by Meadow Williams, broadcast Nazi propaganda during World War II. She was dubbed "Axis Sally" by the American GIs who simultaneously loved and hated her because of her voice. The story plunges viewers into the very dark underbelly of the Third Reich's hate-filled propaganda machine, Sally's eventual capture, and the subsequent trial for treason in Washington D.C. after the war. The main cast also includes Al Pacino as lawyer James Laughlin, Thomas Kretschmann, Mitch Pileggi, Lala Kent, and Carsten Norgaard. This seems like a fascinating story to tell, but doesn't look like a very interesting film. Official trailer for Michael Polish's American Traitor: The Trial of Axis Sally,...

The Man In The High Castle, Season 1
Created by Frank Spotnitz
Released November 20th, 2015 by Amazon Prime
Over the years, many works of legendary author Philip K. Dick have been adapted for the screen. The latest adaptation comes to the small screen courtesy of Amazon Prime, whose newest original series brings his novel The Man In The High Castle from the page to the screen. Developed by Frank Spotnitz, the show’s first season presents a lot of fascinating ideas, and is worth a watch despite some missteps in characterisation.
The show’s exploration of the uneasy alliance between Japan and Germany, and how it develops over the course of the season, makes for a fascinating watch. The unequal power balance between the two Axis powers is made very clear, along with the revelation that both groups are very well aware of it, right from the pilot. The development of...

The fifth episode of The Man in the High Castle deals with the fallout of the shooting of the crown prince, while also sending lead characters Juliana (Alexa Davalos) and Joe (Luke Kleintank) to opposite sides of the country. It's a tight, well-directed, and promising set-up for what's to come as we arrive at the halfway point of this season's narrative arc."The New Normal" picks up immediately after the end of the last episode. The crown prince of Japan was indeed shot, but not by a vengeful Frank Frink (Rupert Evans). As panic ensues, people see Frank with a gun in the crowd and blood on his hand. He drops Juliana's locket as he flees, hiding the weapon as medics tend to the crown prince. Wegener (Carsten Norgaard), Kido (Joel de la Fuente), and Tagomi (Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa) look on with concern. Of course, the area around the assassination...

The premise of Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle is still as grimly transfixing today as it was back in 1962 when Philip K. Dick’s source-material novel first hit shelves: what if the Axis Powers had triumphed in World War II, conquering the United States and dividing it into a Nazi-controlled east, a Japan-ruled west and a lawless neutral zone in between? And as executed by renowned X-Files writer Frank Spotnitz, the series is every bit as nightmarishly gripping as its literary namesake, a portrait of alt-history America so richly, intricately sketched that it almost immediately feels that most chilling of adjectives for a show of this nature: plausible.
In The Man in the High Castle‘s chilling reality, the year is 1962, and the Führer, though alive, is old and graying. The prospect of his imminent death adds new complexity to...

1.1 The Man In The High Castle (Pilot)
Adapting the worlds of Philip K. Dick to visual media is always a tricky proposition. For whatever reason, the person who has done Dick's work the most justice is Ridley Scott in his production of Blade Runner. Even that was different from the source material, but it works brilliantly as a film thanks to Scott's pruning and shaping, and that's one of the reasons why Amazon Studios' adaptation of The Man In The High Castle has been greeted with such interest from fans of all things weird. After all, when you have Ridley Scott and The X-Files guru Frank Spotnitz attached to the same project, it seems like only good things can result.

Alexandre Dumas' heroes get an action-packed, CGI slick makeover in Paul W. S. Anderson's The Three Musketeers. While it might not be the best adaptation of Dumas' classic story, the film is popcorn fun and so over-the-top it is hard not to find something to enjoy. Based on Dumas' novel, the film's screenplay was written by Andrew Davies (Brideshead Revisited) and Alex Litvak (Predators) and stars Logan Lerman (3:10 to Yuma), Matthew Macfadyen (Robin Hood), Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil), Luke Evans (Immortals), Ray Stevenson (Punisher: War Zone), Christoph Waltz (The Green Hornet), Mads Mikkelsen, Orlando Bloom, Gabriella Wilde, Juno Temple, Freddie Fox, Til Schweiger, and Carsten Norgaard. The film opens on a quick history lesson of the state of...

Just under a week ago we got a new peek at Paul W.S. Anderson's "The Three Musketeers" 3-D adventure flick. Monday (May 2) we got a few more. First we have M'Lady De Winter (Milla Jovovich) strutting down the halls of the palace flanked by (from left) Aramis (Luke Evans), Athos (Matthew McFadyen) and Porthos (Ray Stevenson).
In the next photo, we have the four musketeers (having added Logan Lerman's D'Artagnan) standing before (from right) Cardinal Richelieu (Christoph Waltz), Queen Anne (Juno Temple) and who we think is Sergeant Jussac (Carsten Norgaard), a member of the court.
Finally, it looks like young D'Artagnan has himself a love interest in Gabriella Wilde's Constance. Looks like fun! "The Three Musketeers" opens nationwide Oct. 14, 2011.

I like the action but it did not need to be in 3D. That being said, this movie trailer is entertaining, even with the slow motion.
