Beloved American ventriloquist Shari Lewis and her popular sock puppet Lamb Chop will be the subject of a new documentary feature from White Horse Pictures and MoJo Global Arts.
“Shari & Lamb Chop” will be directed by Emmy-nominated Lisa D’Apolito, director of “Love, Gilda,” the documentary about the late Saturday Night Live comedian Gilda Radner.
As a young female ventriloquist with big aspirations, Shari Lewis was searching for a voice who could say things that a young woman in the 1950s could not, and found it in a sock puppet named Lamb Chop. The duo debuted on CBS children’s television series “Captain Kangaroo” in 1956 and went on to attain cultural icon status in the U.S. by the end of the 20th century.

You think you’ve seen one-of-a-kind movies? Banana oil! Forbidden Zone, there’s nothing like it.
The world of motion pictures is loaded with brilliant films and original visions, but few are without precedent. Forbidden Zone is a one of a kind movie that is both highly intelligent and unafraid to be broadly stupid. It mixes the most nightmarish elements of hundreds of film moments, unintentionally of course, with some of the most emotionally stirring music ever to prop up celluloid. If it weren’t for the snatches of dialogue, it might be considered the greatest prog rock opera.
Forbidden Zone is a work of pure originality. It is a fever dream from the mind of a musical interloper that has no peer. Characterizations mean nothing in Forbidden Zone. Neither does storyline or continuity. The basic laws of physics don’t apply so why should the rules of cinema?...

Long before he wrote the wild, dramatic score for Batman and the twisted song cycle that runs through the beloved Nightmare Before Christmas, Danny Elfman's original claim to cinematic fame was far quirkier than anything he'd ever dream up for Tim Burton: He portrayed Satan, dressed in a long-tail white tux, conducting an orchestra of goblins in a run-through of every "hidey-hidey-hidey-ho" in Cab Calloway's "Minnie the Moocher." The episode, in the campy 1980 cult hit Forbidden Zone, found the redheaded composer wiggling, shimmying and writhing as he...

Several generations of kids grew up with Lamb Chop -- the sassy little sock puppet who debuted on "Captain Kangaroo" in 1957, coming to life on the hand of ventriloquist Shari Lewis. During the 1960s, Lewis and Lamb Chop had their own musical-comedy network television show and made countless appearances on "The Ed Sullivan Show." In 1992, the duo launched the PBS children's show, "Lamb Chop's Play-Along," which won Emmy Awards for five consecutive years.
Lewis died in 1998 and after a brief career hiatus, Lamb Chop went back to work -- this time sharing the spotlight with Shari's daughter, Mallory Lewis. Huff/Post50 caught up with Lamb Chop and Mallory as the pair were en route to a show in Vancouver. (Mallory was flying coach and Lamb Chop in the overhead; she won't fly in checked luggage, said Mallory.)

MTV’s newest star admits to a sordid past with some of Hollywood’s hottest puppets!
Kendra Wilkinson and Danielle Staub aren’t the only famous names with sex tapes floating around Hollywood. In a shocking new interview, MTV’s Warren “The Ape” Demontague fesses up to some wild behavior with a beloved children’s character. “I’m not saying I haven’t put a little mint jelly on Lamb Chop,” Warren tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively. “I was in a three-way with [Alf.] He and I got around. It was the ’80s. Good times.”
For the sake of Shari Lewis‘ memory, I think we should all keep our fingers crossed that video never sees the light of day. But before you lose all faith in your favorite childhood figures, you should know not all puppets have behaved as shadily as Warren.

Now that Conan O'Brien may be out of a job, he's bound to land on his feet faster than a feral cat that's been fired out of a cannon. In fact, he's already got another job lined up.
Kurt Sutter, creator and executive producer of FX's Sons of Anarchy, has offered ol' Coco a role on the upcoming season of Sons of Anarchy.
Sutter said he could weave Conan into the Ira subplot that will bleed into the new season and that he really needs "a bad-ass O'Brien on my team. Guns, blood, fist fights -- you could really work some [expletive deleted] out."
