Hossein Khosrow Ali Vaziri, aka the villainous “Iron Sheik” of old-school World Wrestling Federation fame and its only Iranian champion, has died, according to his official Twitter account. He was 81.
Known for years as “The Sheik” or just “Sheik,” Vaziri later became infamous for his blunt, often vulgar, always all-caps tweets telling various random entities to go f— themselves.
He was still doing just that on Wednesday afternoon:

Five years ago, I started watching The Starter Wife for Debra Messing, but I stayed for Stephen Moyer. Only, I didn’t realize it was Stephen Moyer until years later.
Let me back up: The Starter Wife was a USA miniseries about a recently divorced single mother who was trying to develop her skills as a writer. It was based on the novel of the same name by Gigi Levangie Grazer, but all I really remember about it is that Debra Messing played the lead character, Molly Kagan, who lived in a gorgeous oceanfront house with her daughter. Exclusive: Gigi Levangie, who previously helped adapt her novels The Starter Wife and Maneater as successful mini-series, is taking another novel to television. Levangie is set to co-write Seven Deadlies, a drama project for MTV based on her upcoming book of the same name, which will be published this fall by Blue Rider/Penguin. Seven Deadlies, which Levangie will be co-writing with Stacey Title and Jonathan Penner, is set in an exclusive, private high school and centers on a Latina scholarship student who discovers that her classmates carry the bloodlines of the seven deadly sins, and that she must defeat them in order to save the world all while maintaining her Gpa. The project reunites Levangie with MTV topper Susanne Daniels who, while running Lifetime, put Maneater in development. The Starter Wife mini premiered to big ratings on USA, spawning a regular series, which aired for one season. Levangie is repped by Wme,...

We knew, even before the Wall Street Journal reminded us with this very cool graphic, that super-producer Brian Grazer is a man who likes order in his life. (Ok, the not-so-kind might call him a man obsessed with order.) Whatever. He certainly disrupted the natural order of the real estate universe -- which is to sell your old house before you buy a new one.
The very rich, of course, do things in whatever order they want. So here's the scenario involving Grazer: He plopped down $12.5 million on a 12-year-old house in Santa Monica in early December and then withdrew his 6,000-square-foot Malibu Colony house from the market on Dec. 28. When last listed, the Malibu place was for sale at $19.5 million.

Well, It Was That Kind Of Best.Gay.Week.Ever!
I have to confess that when I sat down to write last week's Bgwe! column, it was a little hard to focus on the "Best" part of the equation. What with all of the news about gay teen suicides along with the usual doses of homophobia and asshattery, it was hard to be in a good mood. But I managed to avoid being unduly negative and focused on the good stuff.
But at least it seemed like there were some actual positive changes coming out of the terrible tragedies of Tyler Clementi and the other gay teens we've lost recently. Unfortunately, we then we learned about the horrific beating and torture of three gay men in New York. If you'd told me five years ago that a show about cooking could be exciting, I wouldn't have believed you — but, of course, that was before I became aware of Top Chef. And despite all the jokes about watching paint dry, Work of Art was one of the most interesting of the new competitive reality shows.
But flower arranging? Is there really a way to make that exciting?
Logo (which owns AfterElton.com) hopes so, given that their latest offering, airing tonight at 11 Pm (following the much-hyped The A-List), is a reality show about a group of, well, not florists, natch, but floral designers.
Why is The Arrangement running on the "gay" network? Truthfully, I'm not sure. Yes, it's a huge stereotype that a lot of florists are gay, and a number of the contestants here probably are too. But sexuality has almost nothing to do with the premiere episode,...

After building a formidable series slate based on original ideas, USA Network is eyeing a show based on comedy feature "The Freshman," its first major series development based on an existing property in eight years.
Andrew Bergman, who wrote and directed the 1990 movie starring Matthew Broderick and Marlon Brando, is on board to pen the series adaptation from Sony TV, which has three more projects set up at USA.
The film centered on a wide-eyed Nyu freshman (Broderick) who unwittingly becomes an errand boy for a Mafia boss (Brando).
USA's "The Dead Zone," was based on Stephen King's novel, but the network has stuck to original premises since establishing its brand as a home to lighter shows built around quirky characters with the 2002 dramedy "Monk." According to court documents, Grazer will hand his ex a one-time payment of $4.5 million (£3 million) within eight days and begin paying $40,000 (£26,670) per month in child support for their two sons, for which they will both share custody.

Haunting film from Sweden is best described as The 400 Blows meets Nosferatu, and contains some of the most haunting imagery of any film in recent memory. Truly a unique and memorable work. Bonuses: Deleted scenes; Featurette; Photo and poster gallery. Widescreen. Dolby 5.1 surround.
Paramount Centennial Collection Paramount offers two more classic titles, restored, remastered and loaded with extras. Novelist Gigi Levangie Grazer, whose best-seller "The Starter Wife" became a critically and commercially successful miniseries for USA Network, is venturing into series television with a dramedy project at NBC.
The project, to be produced by Universal Media Studios, revolves around a couple in their 30s who are going though a divorce.
"The theme of it can be summed up as, 'I hate you, hold me, ' " Levangie Grazer said. "It's taking on the idea that divorce is the new marriage."
Levangie Grazer thinks that acrimonious divorces are "so 1990s," replaced by happily co-existing exes in the mold of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis. She even coined a term for today's men who remain in their former wives' lives.
"He is a was-husband, not ex-husband," Levangie Grazer said. "I think there is a new, evolved way to get through divorce, and I hope to capture that."
In the untitled project, which has received a script commitment from the network, the divorcing couple -- a college professor moonlighting as a controversial political blogger, and his wife, who works at a private school and volunteers at a juvenile prison -- don't have enough money to separate right away, so the husband continues to live under the same roof with his wife and their two children, ages 14 and 8.

On the heels of the ratings and critical success of USA Network's adaptation of her best-seller The Starter Wife, Gigi Levangie Grazer has teamed with Lifetime for a miniseries based on another popular novel of hers, Maneater.
Lifetime is developing Maneater as a four-hour mini. The search is under way for a writer to pen the project, which has received a script commitment from the cable network.
Maneater centers on Clarissa, a thirtysomething It Girl who, using her good looks and charm, beguiles and manipulates her way to the top echelons of Beverly Hills to land the hottest producer in town until she realizes that he's much less than she bargained for.
Levangie Grazer and her manager, Stephanie Davis of 3 Arts Entertainment, serve as executive producers on the mini. The two also executive produced Starter Wife, a six-hour limited series.
Starter Wife delivered strong ratings this summer. Its opening part drew 5.4 million viewers and marked USA's biggest original premiere among adults 18-49 since the 2004 debut of The 4400.
Additionally, the mini -- starring Debra Messing as a wife coming to grips with her new place in Hollywood after being dumped by her studio-executive husband for a younger model -- earned 10 Emmy nominations, including one for best miniseries and one for Messing as lead actress in a miniseries or movie.
