The couple's two sons, both under ten years of age, were at home at the time, although police are unsure if they witnessed the argument or gunfire. There had been no previous reports of domestic violence at the home. Detectives are investigating whether the couple's financial situation may have played a role in the killing. Jace had been under financial pressure in recent years with debt totaling between $500,000 and $1 million. He filed for bankruptcy in 2011 and had been delinquent on payments as recently as December.
