Keeping Up Appearances is a British TV classic. Often considered one of the best sitcoms to have ever been released in the United Kingdom, Keeping Up Appearances tells the story of a lower-middle-class social climber, Hyacinth Bucket, as she desperately tries to elevate her status and gain approval of whom she thinks are upper-class people. The show was created by Roy Clarke in 1990 and starred Dame Patricia Routledge as Hyacinth Bucket, Clive Swift as Richard Bucket, Josephine Tewson as Liz Warden, Judy Cornwell as Daisy, Geoffrey Hughes as Onslow, Mary Millar as Rose,

He was known for playing the North Yorkshire-based drama's funeral director in all of the show's 18 series during its run from 1992 to 2010.
His character also ran a garage in the fictional town of Aidensfield and often got involved in disastrous money-making schemes with Claude Greengrass (Bill Maynard) and half-brother Vernon Scripps (Geoffrey Hughes).
Benson also made appearances in BBC comedy Blackadder as Henry VII, ITV 1980s soap opera Albion Market and more recently in two episodes of hospital drama Casualty.
Benson was a highly-skilled singer and dancer and an accomplished theatre actor. He and Maynard starred on stage together in a production of "Trinity Tales" in 1977.
He portrayed the title role in Shakespeare's "Henry VI" in a BBC television adaption of the play in 1983.

“Once upon a time, or maybe twice, there was an unearthly paradise called Pepperland. 80,000 leagues beneath the sea it lay, or lie. I’m not too sure.”
Yellow Submarine plays this weekend (July 20th and 21st) at The Tivoli at midnight as part of their Reel Late at the Tivoli midnight series.
We all live in a Yellow Submarine and Yellow Submarine is proof that an animated film doesn’t have to be rendered in a digital environment to look perfect. I saw psychedelic 1968 Beatles exactly 36 years ago at a midnight show at the Varsity Theater in St. Louis in the summer of ’82. Yellow Submarine tells of the Fab Four’s battles against the deranged Blue Meanies and their Hand Glove, which is hellbent on obliterating the unearthly paradise of Pepperland until the musicians save the day with the powers of peace, love and music. 22:03Well, that's just about it! Aside from quite an underwhelming performance from Graham Norton and a dodgy Tetris-esque stage, that was a throughly enjoyable evening if I may say so. Thanks for joining Digital Spy, and don't forget to write below who you think deserved to win and who was robbed. Goodnight, all!

We all live in a Yellow Submarine with a Blu-ray player and the new Blu-ray of Yellow Submarine is proof that an animated film doesn’t have to be rendered in a digital environment to look perfect in hi-def. I hadn’t seen the psychedelic 1968 Beatles film in exactly 30 years, since I caught a midnight show at the Varsity Theater in St. Louis in the summer of ’82. ABC's "Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23" made its debut Wednesday (April 11) night, and as the Associate Press points out, no one could imagine seeing the N-word in a title but apparently the B-word is A-ok.
Further evidence: ABC's other B-word show, "Gcb," is based on Kim Gatlin's book "Good Christian B------," though, according to ABC, the B stands for "belles."
But "Don't Trust the B----" isn't about the late '90s reclamation by women of the derogatory term, because Krysten Ritter's Chloe actually is, well, a b----.
"It's very clear that she's actually a sociopath," Andi Zeisler, co-founder and editorial director of B---- Magazine, tells the AP. "It's not like here's a strong, confident woman and she's head b---- in charge. She's actually a sociopath and she treats people horribly."
And just for a little history lesson on the B-word: Insulting a woman by calling her...

The proverbial has hit the fan in a big way for the 6th Doctor. Despite his good intentions with the Vervoid evidence, he's now on a charge of mass genocide, after he reduced the walking plants to a pile of leaves on a sunny Autumn day.
Naturally, this is fantastic news for the Valeyard, whose mania has reached red-faced proportions. It's becoming fast obvious that The Valeyard is up to no good – the black-clad buffoon has just revealed his real dastardly self by starting to laugh evilly at regular intervals. Yes, how to give the game away in one fell swoop – start to go “Bwa ha haah!” – after all that hard work building up a credible case against The Doctor, The Valeyard's just committed professional suicide.
But at least the trial's starting to finally get somewhere. Better still, The Doctor's managed to nab some help from the most unlikely source.
