Fans of Dexter will agree that Jennifer Carpenter’s Debra Morgan deserved better than her tragic fate in the series. Carpenter originally wanted Debra to die at the end of the series especially due to all the guilt from her and her brother’s actions. However, she was devastated by how the show actually executed her death in the last episode of the final season, Remembering the Monsters?.
Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall in Dexter
Carpenter revealed that the scene made her realize that Dexter’s character was not the neat monster depicted in the show, but rather a very sick man in need of help. Michael C. Hall and Carpenter returned to their roles as the Morgan siblings in the standalone miniseries, Dexter: New Blood.

For a great many actors, getting on a long-running TV show is the dream. Steady work is hard to come by as an actor, and network television is one of the best ways to find such work. Actor T.J. Thyne found himself in precisely that situation playing Jack Hodgins on Fox's "Bones." For 12 seasons, Thyne got to bring the forensic entomologist to life, but in taking the job, the actor put himself in precisely the situation he had been avoiding for years.
Speaking with Oh No They Didn't! in 2007, just a couple of seasons into the show's run on Fox, Thyne was asked about playing the same character for so many episodes for multiple years. In response, he explained that he had previously resisted such things, because he didn't want to get stuck doing the same thing for years on end. But in this case, it proved to be the right situation for him.

So, if you also miss the series here are some more shows you should watch next.

Awards show junkies got everything they expected at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards. Succession and The Bear took home a truckload of golden trophies, with the former closing out its legendary run in glory and the latter just getting warmed up (Hulu’s chaotic cooking dramedy was actually cleaning up with nominations from its first season way back in 2022 due to the Emmys’ strike-related delay) These behemoths left many shows out in the cold, but none more so than Better Call Saul.
AMC’s intricate, thoughtful spinoff to Breaking Bad was nominated 53 times throughout its six seasons but never won a single statuette. Casual viewers took to social media in shock. At the same time, those in the know already had memes and other jokes ready to fire away, as it’s become somewhat of a running gag that the Bob Odenkirk-starring vehicle would never take the crown. The Streamable has compiled a list of the top 25 pilots in TV history, and where you can watch them now.
The breadth of TV content available these days is truly staggering. Whether on live channels or on-demand, on linear TV or via subscription streaming services, there has never been a wider availability of TV shows, and that can create some real uncertainty about where to start!
When picking a new TV series, it’s obviously best to start with the pilot. That’s a TV industry term for the first episode of a series, and every show that’s ever been made (along with thousands that ultimately weren’t sent to production) has had one.
Choosing the best titles amongst these is difficult, particularly since “best” is a subjective term dependent on the individual user to interpret. However, the following list has been pulled from an Ask Reddit thread which...

This article contains spoilers for the Six Feet Under series finale.
Every episode of Six Feet Under begins with an ending.
While not as well-regarded as its early 2000s HBO drama brethren The Sopranos and The Wire, Six Feet Under is still an important part of HBO, and therefore television, history. It’s also very good, as Netflix subscribers can now find out thanks to Warner Bros. Discovery’s content-sharing initiative with the streamer. (Previous HBO titles moving to Netflix include Band of Brothers and Ballers).
Created by Alan Ball (True Blood), Six Feet Under premiered on June 3, 2001 and followed the Fisher family as they tried to keep the family business of Fisher & Sons Funeral Home together after the death of paterfamilias Nate Sr. (Richard Jenkins). Naturally for a show set in a funeral home, the opening minutes of each Six Feet Under installment features a death that will produce...

Regardless of genre, fans place an enormous amount of expectation on series finales. It's not easy to carry the responsibility of wrapping up any extraneous plot threads and character arcs in a satisfying way for longtime audiences. Even the most acclaimed shows, like "Seinfeld" and "The Sopranos," can have their entire successful run overshadowed by middling or divisive reception to their respective finales. This distinction carries over to horror TV shows, with plenty of notable series marring their celebrated legacies because of the last impressions left by divisive final episodes.
Horror shows often suffer from abrupt cancellations, denying audiences a satisfying amount of closure thanks to anticlimactic endings that don't live up to fan expectations. Even some of the most enduring and iconic horror shows have come to a close with lackluster finales. Here are the most maligned endings that ruined the legacies of TV horror classics by failing to stick the landing.

The Dexter-verse is coming! Hmm…yeah, that sounded weird. Nevertheless, Showtime has confirmed that two new spin-offs from the iconic series have been ordered straight-to-series: Dexter: Origins and the follow-up to Dexter: New Blood. To be honest, the history of Dexter has been quite rocky following season four. The whole, “Deb wants to f**k her brother” angle was just strange, and this is coming from a guy who watches Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. I know Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) and Dexter (Michael C. Hall) aren’t blood related, but it was still creepy. Dexter Was On A High When...

Dexter: Origins has been making headlines with the announcement of the a series focused on younger versions of the original character, but there’s been no word on who will play them. The original Dexter, which aired from 2006 to 2013, featured Michael C. Hall in the titular role of Dexter Morgan, a blood spatter analyst for the Miami Metro Police Department who moonlighted as a vigilante serial killer, targeting only those who managed to slip through the cracks of the justice system. The show was a resounding success, winning multiple awards and earning a devoted fan base, and its revival promises...

The title might give the game away a little, but that doesn’t lessen the impact of How to Create a Sex Scandal. The new Max docuseries, brisk, brief, and damning, makes a convincing case that an East Texas pedophilia case that sent seven people to prison was in fact a frame job, conceived of greed and a badly damaged moral compass, and still not entirely rectified. This is the kind of filmmaking that can affect actual change.

This article contains spoilers for all of Dexter.
Sometimes it’s hard to casually enjoy a television show or movie when there is so much critical analysis and even baggage attached to it. We want to go into something with a clean slate, a fresh canvas to which we can paint our own opinions without the influence of others. There’s perhaps no greater example of this than the final season of the megahit Showtime series Dexter.
Running from 2006 to 2013, this Michael C. Hall vehicle went toe to toe with other prestige dramas of the era like Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire, and more and still carved out a deservedly large audience. Dexter Morgan was an antihero unlike any of the others, a serial killer who was actually highly relatable as a father, a husband, and human being who desperately wanted to fit in with society much more than he had ever originally imagined.

2018’s dark comedy, Game Night, made a splash upon its release when audiences found the movie to be a cleverly written mystery on top of the laughs, with the look of a David Fincher film. If you ever clamored for a sequel to the R-rated comedy, you are in good company. Rachel McAdams recently spoke with Empire about how her own mom was so impressed with the movie, she wants her to do a sequel.
While doing promotion for her new film, Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret, McAdams revealed that her mom was one of Game Night‘s biggest fans. “You know, right after my mom saw that movie, she was like, ‘You have to do a sequel!’ ” she explains. “Three serial killers walk into a bar” sounds like an intro to some silly joke, but if they happened to be the titular characters from Barry and Dexter and Joe (Penn Badgley) from You, chances are the scenario would result in a murder or two. Spoiler alert: The one or two that bite the dust won’t be either of the three killers; they may become friends, given how much they have in common. All three characters star in their own television shows in which they kill people without taking full responsibility for their actions. Barry thinks he’s a good person and hides behind how much he wants to be a better person (until the road to being a better person inconveniences him). Dexter blames his killings on his dark passenger and tries to make it right by only killing the bad guys (until his code inconveniences him). And...

Television shows are, inevitably, made up of parts. On the surface, there’s the great, overarching story that begins with the first shot and ends with the last. But, within that narrative, there are small parts: the series, and the episode. It is the smallest of these sub-divisions, the episode, that is most intriguing. A truly brilliant episode can bridge the gap between cinema and TV. It can refine the essence of the best shows into a single, self-contained moment. At its most potent, a perfect episode is like mainlining all the myriad ingredients of prestige television in a single sitting.
But great TV shows do not necessarily beget great episodes and, conversely, great episodes are not always the sign of a great show. The start of 2023 has been dominated by discussions about The Last of Us, a perfectly good series including one stunning episode. In it, two supporting characters...

Daniel Radcliffe has spent most of his life on screen. Between the Harry Potter film franchise and independent projects like "Weird: The Al Yankovic Story," the 33-year-old actor is best known for his versatile acting range. So naturally, it's no surprise that he met his longtime girlfriend, fellow actor Erin Darke, at work.
The two appeared together in the 2013 film "Kill Your Darlings" alongside Michael C. Hall, Jack Huston, and Ben Foster. And in 2021, they shared the screen once again in a season three episode of TBS's anthology series "Miracle Workers: Dark Ages."
Following their time in "Kill Your Darlings," the two shared an immediate connection, and a romance blossomed between them. Since then, the couple have been going strong, and they remain together a decade later. "I've got a really nice life. I've been with my girlfriend for a decade pretty much. No TV show has truly had a series finale as long as the network or streaming service can produce a revival. TV sitcoms like Full House, Saved by the Bell, and Will & Grace returned. Dramas have reunited their casts, or at least passed the torch to the next generation. Here are six of the best TV drama revivals of the last decade.
Raymond Lee and Caitlin Bassett | Ron Batzdorff/NBC ‘Dallas’ revived the TV drama until real-life tragedy occurred
TNT brought back the hit drama Dallas with original cast members Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy, and Linda Gray as the original Ewings. Jesse Metcalfe, Josh Henderson, Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo, and Emma Bell played the new generation battling over the family oil business.
Unfortunately, Hagman died while filming the second season. The show quickly adjusted existing footage to explain J.R. Ewing’s off screen death, but the show could never recover.

As long as humans have been passing down stories, those tales have included our capacity to transgress against each other. It’s a tradition literally as old as the Bible.
And beyond documenting how people break the rules that govern our evolving notions of society, we’re constantly fascinated by those charged with righting those wrongs. Whether it follows the detectives who investigate those crimes, those within the judicial system who determine the proper level of punishment, or the friends and family members left in the wake of these actions, this process has become the cornerstone of many of cultural touchstones.
On the TV side, for the better part of two decades when the antihero has reigned supreme, that trend is as prevalent as ever. For every harrowing situation that asks an audience “How would you react in this situation?” there are often dire consequences. There’s no simpler way...

When the original Dexter concluded in 2013 with the titular character relocated to the Pacific Northwest, many viewers didn’t like the way the crime drama ended.
