In the years since Jonathan Demme refined the art of rock documentaries and made Talking Heads frontman David Byrne swing-dance with a lamp in Stop Making Sense, he's teamed with Neil Young for a trilogy of performance films, done some scattered music video work, and helmed a little-seen doc with Italian singer-songwriter Enzo Avitabile. Now his turned his lens on another iconic performer: Justin Timberlake. And no, he did not put him in a giant, baggy white suit.

He’s been selling out arenas on his Fuse Tour all winter, and earlier tonight (January 26) Keith Urban showed up at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.
Joined by Gary Clark Jr (who won Best Traditional R&B Artist earlier in the evening), the “Better Life” crooner looked handsome with his newly-shorn coif as he belted out his new single “Cop Car.”
Probably the most thrilling part of the song occurred when Urban and Clark traded guitar solos at the end, showcasing their axe-wielding skills for the grateful Grammy guests.
Following his brief Grammy break, Keith will be back on the road with Little Big Town with a packed tour schedule that lasts through the summer!

The Rolling Stones celebrated the final concert in their reunion tour in style on Dec. 15. Performers including Lady Gaga, Bruce Springsteen, John Mayer and The Black Keys joined the rock band during their Newark, N.J. show.
The "50 and Counting" Rolling Stones tour wound to a close over the weekend after hitting cities like London and New York City. Gaga performed "Gimme Shelter" along with the Stones, while The Black Keys sang "Who Do You Love" and Mayer and Gary Clark, Jr. collaborated on "Goin' Down." Springsteen performed "Tumbling Dice" with the band.
While some of the Mother Monster's dance moves are questionable in this video, its clear that everyone's heart was in the right place. It seems like this concert was one that does the Stones' legacy justice. Mick Jagger also gave a shout out to those affected by the tragic shooting in Newtown, Conn.

The Rolling Stones wrapped their "50 and Counting" tour with a little help from some friends. The final concert, held in Newark, New Jersey, featured guest performances by Lady Gaga, Bruce Springsteen, The Black Keys, John Mayer, and Gary Clark, Jr.
The Stones jammed to "Gimme Shelter" with Lady Gaga, shown above. Mother Monster strutted on stage sporting an excess of blonde hair, sky-high heels, and a metallic-striped bodysuit. Mick Jagger traded vocals with Gaga, showing off some of his trademark dance moves in the performance.
Recent Grammy nominees The Black Keys joined The Stones for the classic, "Who Do You Love," while John Mayer and Gary Clark, Jr. teamed up with the band for a performance of "Goin' Down." Finally, The Boss lit up the stage in his home state when he was brought on for "Tumbling Dice."

Happy Thanksgiving. It's been a terrific month for mining new music. I caught an advance screening of Led Zeppelin's new concert movie at MoMA (and their press conference), discovered what may be my favorite album of the year, and found inspiring young musicians sharing their chops and muses with the world. With the holidays around the corner, here are some early suggestions for music very much worth sharing with friends, lovers, bosses, and family.
"You're So Great / It's All Right, Ma" Wendy James You're So Great E.P. (Cobraside)
If Brit-born/NYC-based Ms. James's claim-to-fame-band Transvision Vamp was a tad too sugar-pop coated for your New Yawk punk rawk palette, not to worry. Thanks to guitarist James Williamson (Iggy Pop Stooge) and drummer James Sclavunos (Nick Cave alumnus), she's found some downtown 'tude. The A-side is a fun retro Ramones-style punk ditty, but it's the flip-side Grinderman-grind Dylan cover where it all comes together.

Here is the latest celeb gossip about the following topic from one of the freelance news writers at Green Celebrity Network. Will inviting celebrity friends to the White House come treating the home more like a pop culture icon than a famous place with historical significance hurt Barack Obama's chance at re-election? If it does, he and the family will most likely be heading back to Sweet Home Chicago. Michelle Obama had the crew from Extreme Home Makeover in to remodel the house. Then B.B. King, Jeff Beck, Gary Clark, Jr., Shemekia Copeland, Buddy Guy, Warren Haynes, Mick Jagger, Keb' Mo', Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks with Taraji P all came to a house party to celebrate Black History Month. Why is his choice to invite stars right and hers wrong? Keep reading...

Buñuel goes new romantic. Michael Corleone as the guitarist's role model … David Lynch's favourite musicians discuss the relationship between music and the movies
Nick Rhodes, Duran Duran
What moment in film is most similar in its own way to the music you make, and how?
Fellini's La Dolce Vita – specifically, the Trevi fountain scene. I relate to it because of its style and meticulous detail. It's irreverent, and at the time it was made he was doing something that nobody else had done before. This is what we always strive for. Obviously, the results are in the eye of the beholder, but that's how I'd personally love to envisage what we do.

Gary Clark, Jr. is a soul man. He's a blues man. He's a rock and roll man. Gary Clark Jr. is the real deal. When I happened upon his set, waiting to see the much-hyped Theophilus London at the Habana Bar Backyard, Clark Jr. was mid-wild jam with an electric three piece backing band that fleshed out the astonishing guitar skills of the 27 year-old Austin native. Song after song, the guitar aficionado delivered finger-numbing guitar solos as the band built walls of sound around him, with Clark Jr. intermittently slowing things down to sing the blues. The highlight of the set was a Marvin-style love ballad, Clark Jr. crooning in his sugar soul voice, "Please come home, it's been too long." When applied with true yearning and velvety finesse, his simplistic lyrics strike with a bold, honest weight. This is what Fat Possum was thinking about when they signed The Black Keys - dirty,...

Depending on your point of view, the Season Six finale of Grey's Anatomy was either one of the show's all-time best or a sign of just how far it's fallen from its glory years.
Below, two of our staff writers explore these opposing viewpoints as we head into the summer: Has Grey's Anatomy jumped the shark - and are its best days behind it?
Yes by M.L. House
I fell in love with Grey's Anatomy because it was a drama based around a number of well-written characters. Over the last couple of seasons, however, it's devolved into a melodrama based around a number of lazily concocted gimmicks.
I miss the days when story ines were built around heartbreak, affairs, deaths and births. Stuff that happened all the time to regular, flawed people.

When I pitched this Grey's Anatomy finale at the beginning of Season Six (those of you who know me know that I pitch the end of the season first and we work towards it), when I pitched a gunman shooting up the hospital, it seemed fine. Really it did.

"Grey's Anatomy" delivered a heart-wrenching story in the sixth season finale on Thursday, May 20 night that there are more questions coming out rather than satisfying answers. The creator Shonda Rhimes took responsibility of taking the show into that direction by providing reasons why [Spoiler Alert] some doctors have to be shot and Meredith has to suffer miscarriage.
In her blog, Shonda admitted that she felt uneasy when writing the two-hour episode. "On an almost daily basis, I would come into work and throw myself down on the sofa in the middle of the office and burst into tears like a...well, like a b*tch baby," she recalled. "And I would tell the other Grey's writers, 'I don't think I can do this. It's too horrible. People are getting hurt. That man is shooting them."
Even worse, she planned a major character's death but decided to scrap off the plan because it was too painful.

If you’re like us, you watched last night’s wrenching Grey’s Anatomy finale wondering: Where the heck did all this gunman’s rage come from? Well, it began among much sexier storylines such as Alex’s secret brother showing up, Callie pining for a baby, and April crushing on Derek. In fact, you’ll see from this clip (from the April 1 episode “Sympathy for the Parents”) that April and Lexie could barely wait to bolt from the room when future hospital-shooter Gary Clark was getting the news about his wife’s euthanasia wishes — and it wasn’t even...

Shonda Rhimes has admitted that writing the sixth season finale of Grey's Anatomy was difficult. In the episode, a gunman shot several members of the cast, while Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) had a miscarriage. "It hurt to write this finale," Rhimes said on her blog. "It literally hurt me. Because in order to write these episodes, I had to walk in the shoes of Gary Clark. I had to think like a shooter. "By the time I finished writing part one I was sick. And depressed. Because my McDreamy [Patrick Dempsey]... was lying on my beloved catwalk dying. Mer is screaming and he is dying. And before you have me shot up with Thorazine and placed in a straitjacket, yes, I do know it's only a TV show, I'm not insane. But dude, it felt too real. It felt way too real." Rhimes added that the first part of the finale "shattered a...

Having covering Grey's Anatomy for six seasons now, our staff had serious misgivings and debates regarding "Sanctuary" and "Death and All His Friends" before it even aired.
A show we grew to love for its lighter moments and terrific character development has too often subjected us to ghost sex, afterlife visits and over-the-top ratings gimmicks.
When we saw the leaked intro clip earlier in the week, we thought Shonda Rhimes was going there again - trying to be all profound, but really just throwing stuff at the wall.
While we do think the Grey's Anatomy spoilers were overkill - imagine had we not known the identity of the shooter, or that Meredith was pregnant! - last night compelling.
If nothing else, with five major characters getting shot over two hours, Shonda went all in. This was an emotional, well-paced episode, as well as edge-of your-seat intense.

My personal philosophy in life is to under promise and over deliver, lest people be disappointed. Thus, I was extremely nervous when the season finale of Grey's Anatomy was hyped to the extreme. Game changing! The finale that changes everything! You don't want to miss it! To her credit Ga creator and writer-of-this-episode Shonda Rhimes pretty much delivered on her promise. I found myself with my heart in my mouth for the entire evening before finally being able to exhale as the credits rolled.
I knew we were in trouble from Meredith's trade mark opening voice-over. The former Queen of Dark and Twisty Land was all shiny and happy having just found out she was pregnant with a McBaby. The juxtaposition of Meredith's total happiness with Gary Clark's utter despair was both heartbreaking and chilling.
