Carrie Bradshaw’s love life is active again, or so it looks like it will be in season 2 of And Just Like That…, the HBO Max reboot of Sex and the City. It won’t be the first time fans watch the sex columnist date in New York City. For six seasons, fans watched Carrie date a nearly neverending line of men before settling down with Mr. Big for good. While some of those men were nice and felt like a good fit, there were just as many misses. These three boyfriends were never going to make Carrie Bradshaw happy.
Wade Adams was an awful fit for the sex columnist
If we are looking for Carrie’s most mismatched relationship partners, we need to look no further than Wade Adams. Carrie met Wade in season 3 of Sex and the City and struck up a fun little romance. What started fun...

What's the best "Star Trek" movie? Is it "The Wrath of Khan"? "The Voyage Home"? "First Contact"? Many a Trekkie have said, half or fully seriously, that the answer is the loving parody film, "Galaxy Quest." "High concept" doesn't even begin to cover the film: aliens (the Thermians) who believe that a short-lived sci-fi series was a documentary recruit the cast to help them battle a galactic tyrant.
The sci-fi show in question is a "Trek" parody, a program that was cut short but kept alive decades later by an obsessive fandom. Jason Nesmith (Tim Allen) is William Shatner, the egomaniac who soaks up public adoration so much he doesn't notice how his co-stars loathe him. Alexander Dane (Alan Rickman) isn't a one-to-one for Leonard Nimoy, but his resentment of playing the alien "Dr. Lazarus" is in line with Nimoy's autobiography, "I Am Not Spock". Sigourney Weaver, a silver screen...

Where are all the adult animated movies? There’s even less when it comes to animated horror movies. There have been a handful of more well-known ones such as the occasional Resident Evil movie, the recent To Your Last Death and prequel to Train To Busan – Seoul Station – but there’s nowhere near enough, so I was very happy to see a new animated horror movie coming to Shudder soon.
The Spine of Night works as a kind of strange anthology movie. We have two lead characters that the story revolves around. The Guardian (voiced by Richard E. Grant) is a creepy, skeleton-like God and Tzod (voiced by Lucy Lawless) a fierce high priestess of a great jungle swamp. They’re both...

The film stars Gaïa Weiss, Peter Franzen and Romane Libert. Weiss plays Lisa, who after getting a car ride from an unknown man wakes up in a tube. On her arm is strapped a bracelet with a countdown. She quickly understands that every 10 minutes, fire burns an occupied section. She has no choice but to crawl into safe sections to survive. To know why she’s there and how to get out, she will have to face the memories of her dead daughter.
“Gravitas is thrilled to be able to present audiences with one of the best new additions to the sci-fi and horror genres in the past decade,” said Brett Rogalsky, Gravitas Ventures’ acquisitions manager. “What Mathieu...

An empathetic turn by Susan Sarandon as an anxious mother whose journalist son is being held hostage by overseas extremists is enough to hold together “Viper Club.” But it’s not quite enough to render this subject as compelling as it should be; the intimacy of the protagonist’s viewpoint also results in an isolated and monotonously apolitical look at a narrow civilian aspect of turbulent global politics.

Even after the apocalypse strikes, Los Angeles will still need Uber drivers, and a recent web series provides a look at what ride sharing will look like in the post-apocalypse. Veteran actor Willie Garson leads Towncar Willie, in which he ferries celebrity passangers across a hellish landscape to the airport.
Towncar Willie is actually a companion for a separate web series called Whole Day Down, which made it onto our radar three years ago. In that series, Garson co-stars alongside Patrick Breen as a down-on-his-luck gallery owner. An explosion at the end of the first season turns Los Angeles into rubble, and that event sets the stage for Towncar Willie, which follows Garson's day job as an Uber driver.
Towncar Willie feeatures the same brand of oddball humor as its parent series, with plenty of guest stars keeping things lively. Rob Morrow of Numb3rs outs himself as a brony, while...

Can a long-unsolved case still have a positive outcome?
Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) got an answer in "Open Secrets," Friday's (Feb. 28) episode of CBS' "Blue Bloods" written by executive producer Ian Biederman and directed by TV veteran Eric Laneuville.
Danny and Maria (Marisa Ramirez) were called to a school from which a youngster named Jenna had disappeared, a crossing guard telling them she'd seen the girl atypically get into a car rather than walk home. The situation brought back troubling memories for Danny, who'd failed to locate a missing girl named Allie years earlier and still was visited regularly by her father Joseph (guest star Patrick Breen), who continued to maintain hope she'd be found.
Erin (Bridget Moynahan) was handling the potential prosecution of Diana Del Rio (guest star Caroline Strong), who claimed she had a bipolar condition that caused her to fatally run over her building's superintendent. The defendant's lawyer,...

I remember seeing the cover-art for this film a few months ago and it stood out, the white and red silhouette of a man holding a suitcase on a black background. It’s a great cover for a film that I otherwise knew nothing about.

Fisher Stevens would probably like to forget that part he had last year in the universally panned comedy One for the Money. We'll happily oblige the actor by taking a look back at the very first film he directed, Call of the Wylie. Yes, the guy from the Short Circuit movies has directed several projects, including a movie called Just a Kiss (Kyra Sedgwick, Marisa Tomei, Taye Diggs), which won an Open Palm Award for outstanding directorial debut at the Gotham Awards, as well as Stand Up Guys, in theaters this weekend. Wylie, however, takes things in an entirely different direction, continuing the story of the Warner Bros. cartoon icon, Wile E. Coyote. In Stevens' film, Wylie goes by his middle name, Ezra (played by Patrick Breen, who cowrote the short and is...

Nobody really knows Fisher Stevens the director. We tend to think of him primarily as the actor who boldly went brownface for the Short Circuit movies and more recently appeared in a few episodes of Lost. (But if you’re really hip, you best remember him for My Science Project.) He also won an Oscar for producing the documentary The Cove three years ago. But he has been directing here and there since the mid-’90s. He helmed a little-known rom-com in 2002 called Just a Kiss and collaborated with Dan Klores on the also under-seen 2007 doc Crazy Love. This Friday, his biggest directorial effort to date, Stand Up Guys, opens theatrically in a modest number of locations considering it stars Al Pacino, Christopher Walken and Alan Arkin. In anticipation of that new feature, I’d like to go back 18 years and look at Stevens’s directorial debut. It’s a short titled Call of the Wylie, and...

Whole Day Down, created by Patrick Breen and Tai Fauci, is an original web series that much like a de Kooning or a Bhavsar, can be difficult to describe. Starring Willie Garson (White Collar) and co-creator Patrick Breen, the show follows the slightly self-referential exploits of two down and out friends on the fringes of Hollywood supported by a steady stream of odd jobs who decide to open an art gallery. While the initial concept is straightforward, the crazy, random, kinda meta nature of the series will capture your attention, even if you're not sure why it’s so engaging. “The show kept getting odder as we wrote it because our collective creative id has no super ego studio to control it,” said co-creator Patrick Breen. Having worked successfully in traditional media as an actor for several decades, Breen (The Good Wife) was able to wrangle a handful of guest...

If you’ve yet to see this week’s episode of The Good Wife, stop reading now. Spoilers ahead! We asked Josh Charles a few of our burning questions:
Entertainment Weekly: Do you think the idea to make Will’s pickup basketball game with fellow lawyers and judges the alleged center of a judicial bribery scheme was in the back of producers’ minds the first time we saw him on the court?
Josh Charles: That’s a question for Robert and Michelle . I don’t know if it was part of the grand master plan. My instinct would say...

['The Good Wife' - 'Whiskey Tango Foxtrot']
It was old home week on 'The Good Wife' last night. I don't know about you, but I did a little jig of glee when I saw that Patrick Breen and Linda Emond were back as Capt. Terrence Hicks and Judge Loera Kuhn. When they appeared in a crackling season 2 episode, I wrote at the time that I'd happily watch a military-law spin-off starring those two characters.
(By the way, I just want to say hello to all our 'Good Wife' regulars. I'm filling in as Lockhart Gardner recapper for my co-worker Chris Harnick, who will be back on the case next week. I hope I do as good a job as Chris does at chronicling the weekly 'Good Wife' maneuvers, legal and otherwise).
I woudn't say that 'Whiskey Tango Foxtrot's' case was quite as gripping as the firm's last military trial...

Tonight on The Good Wife: The Investigation Into Will Intensifies
Tonight's episode of The Good Wife will be a challenging one for those at Lockhart Gardner as the State Attorney's investigation into Will (Josh Charles) steps up a gear exposing personal matters. Eli (Alan Cumming) is also up against it as a new rival shakes his confidence.
The episode title is "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot" which in true Good Wife form has more than one meaning. Of course it reads as 'Wtf' which could easily be about the Will investigation, but it also has a military meaning and relates to this week's case. Will and Alicia (Julianna Margulies) are facing a difficult military judge who we last saw in "Double Jeopardy" from season 2. There was definitely a difference in style and opinion between Will and Judge Leora Kuhn (Linda Emond) when they last argued before her; is this going to be a repeat session?...

The Film:
Appearances are deceiving. When the Smiths try to rebuild their broken lives from a tragic past, a stranger comes calling in search of a place to rest. Living in a small town hasn’t been easy for the Smiths, especially due to their past, but they view this as a chance encounter to right some wrongs, and show their Christian spirit for helping this stranger. Both don’t get what they bargained for, as the film lives up to its title, The Bleeding House. Simple and straightforward, the effortlessly styled The Bleeding House doesn’t shake itself awake when it should, making for a rather dull time.
Philip Gelatt’s debut is a rather beautiful looking film, given its indie nature. Slick, dark cinematography contains the film’s mood, since its setting is mostly this large house, Gelatt frames the scenes to give it a larger look. With this,...

Flannery O'Connor was never this grotesque but I do wonder what she would have thought of The Bleeding House. This independent grotesque mixes religion and blood in equal parts into a taut suspense thriller even as it neatly character studies victim and vile killer alike. Patrick Breen absolutely lights up the screen as Nick, a psychotic serial killer who may or may not have a conscience of some sort. The rest of the players here keep up just fine but it's Breen who lulls us into a trance with his lilting Southern accent and white linen suit. He's like some impossible Capote come to haunt us from Hell, wrongly inspired by the writing of his In Cold Blood. Faulkner comes to mind as well. The...

Title: The Bleeding House Director: Philip Gelatt Starring: Alexandra Chando (‘As The World Turns’), Patrick Breen (‘Men in Black’) and Betsy Aidem (‘Far From Heaven’) While his characters are trying to run from their past, first time director and screenwriter Philip Gelatt is trying to pave the way for his filmmaking future with his debut movie, ‘The Bleeding House.’ The horror thriller, which had a successful run at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival, strives to create an original idea about the fear people have when dealing with their past actions in a genre that’s success is based on purely violent sequels and remakes. While Gelatt deserves credit for striving to...

After spending untold amounts of cash on hundreds of dramas and comedies — most of which will never make it to your living rooms — the five broadcast networks will begin announcing in New York next week which projects are good enough to earn a coveted fall pickup. (NBC and Fox will present their fall schedule to advertisers on Monday, followed by ABC on Tuesday, CBS on Wednesday and the CW on Thursday).
Buzz is already strong for several projects (for more on the hot ones, click here). But every year, we always wonder what diamond-in-the-rough was left on the cutting room...

Ludwig Göransson is the new composer on the upcoming comedy 30 Minutes or Less. He is taking over from Nathan Barr who was originally attached to score the film as reported back in February. The project marks the first major studio feature for the Swedish composer who is best known for scoring the critically acclaimed NBC comedy show Community. 30 Minutes or Less is directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) and centers on a pizza delivery driver who gets kidnapped by two fledgling criminals and is being forced to rob a bank within 30 minutes. The movie stars Jesse Eisenberg, Aziz Ansari, Danny McBride, Nick Swardson and Michael Pena. Sony Pictures is releasing the film on August 12, 2011. The first trailer for the comedy recently premiered online and can be watched below. For more information on the film, visit the official movie webpage.

One of the Tribeca Film Festival's smaller genre offerings that packed plenty of menace this year was Philip Gelatt's The Bleeding House - a title that you will understand once you see it. And no, it's not a chiller about a haunted abode where the walls run red. Gelatt's slow-simmer tale focuses on a family of four trying to forget about the past and move on. That's hard to do, however, when a tall stranger - embodied by Patrick Breen ( Cirque du Freak , Men in Black ) - comes a-callin' and he's out to sate his bloodlust. Shock spoke to Gelatt who is making his directorial feature debut with the film. Shock Till You Drop: What was your background prior to this? Were you dabbling in short films? If you were, what kind of subject matter were you attacking with your films...

Gaga, the early years
Let's take a moment to wish Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta a very happy 25th birthday. And be sure to tune in to the 2011 NewNowNext Awards on Logo (our parent company) at 10Pm Et on Monday, April 11th, to see her accept her special Always Next, Forever Now award. The Daily Brink has an interview with Josh Vandiver and Henry Velandia. The couple is legally wed, but Henry may face deportation in the next few months, and the pair are appealing the rejection of their petition for a green card. I hate to do this, but below you can see a clip from last night's Celebrity Apprentice. Don't worry, you don't see the Orange Bag Of Meat And Hair™, but you do see the men's team create a "hilarious" gay commercial (ooh, so risque), with Jose Canseco fretting that it's basically going to destroy his life, or something.

Perfect Couples fans, avert your eyes: Kyle Bornheimer has been tapped to co-star in Fox’s comedy pilot Council of Dads.
The potential new series tells the story of a dying man named Michael who enlists the help of five of his male friends to form a “council of dads” for his two children, Deadline reports. Bornheimer, who joins the already-cast Diane Farr, Patrick Breen and Ken Howard, fills the part of “fun dad” perfectly, which calls for a funny, loud, larger than life personality.

Exclusive: The always in-demand Kyle Bornheimer is set to co-star in Peter Tolan's comedy pilot for Fox Council of Dads. Inspired by Bruce Feiler's non-fiction book, the pilot, which is being directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, tells the story of Michael who, just before he dies, enlists five of his guy friends from all aspects of his life to become a “council of dads” to his two young children. Bornheimer will play the "fun dad" on the council, a childhood friend of Michael's who is loud and larger than life, funny though sometimes inappropriate. On the Sony TV-produced pilot, Bornheimer joins previously cast Diane Farr, Patrick Breen and Ken Howard. Bornheimer fielded several pilot offers before choosing to go with Council. For him, the Fox pilot is in second position to NBC's softly-rated midseason series Perfect Couples, on which he co-stars. This is the second consecutive year,...
