A new episode of the Real Slashers video series has just been released, and with this one we’re looking back at a film that has earned a solid cult following despite the fact that it’s only available in a cut down, TV-friendly version. It’s Cherry Falls (watch it Here) from the year 2000, and you can hear all about it by checking out the video embedded above.
Directed by Geoffrey Wright from a screenplay by Ken Selden, Cherry Falls has the following synopsis: A small-town sheriff, Brent Marken, discovers the presence of a serial killer in his sleepy hamlet. Since the perpetrator has been targeting only virgins, both male and female, the deaths cause panic in much of the local high school population. Sheriff Marken’s daughter, Jody, is among the potential victims, since she has yet to sleep with her boyfriend, Kenny Ascott. Can the lawman stop...

“Brr, it’s cold in here…” Could there be some future Clovers in the atmosphere?
Gabrielle Union, who played Isis in 2000’s “Bring It On,” teased a potential new installment in the iconic cheerleading film franchise at the “Truth Be Told” Season 3 premiere on Thursday.
“We’ve been developing a sequel forever,” Union told Variety. “But for folks who don’t exactly understand how long development can take in Hollywood, that could be five minutes or 50 years.”
“Bring It On,” which also starred Kirsten Dunst, Eliza Dushku and Jesse Bradford, spurred five direct-to-video sequels and a Halloween-themed TV sequel, but all without the original cast. Along with “Love & Basketball,” “Bring It On” was Union’s breakthrough movie, leading to a successful career in both film and TV.
Most recently, Union joined Apple TV+’s “Truth Be Told” for Season 3, which follows investigative journalist turned true crime podcaster Poppy (Octavia Spencer...

With Gabrielle Union’s iconic movie Bring It On recently celebrating its 22nd anniversary, the actress had fans in a frenzy over a cryptic message she shared online.
Union, 49, was among the stars of the cheerleading comedy film, which also starred Kirsten Dunst as Torrance Shipman, a cheerleader from a rival school.
Other stars in the funny cheerleader flick included Eliza Dushku and Jesse Bradford. The 2000 movie went on to generate over 90 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo data.

Can we get an I-r-o-n-y?
Kirsten Dunst, the definitive early 2000s teen queen who starred in blockbusters like “Spider-Man” and indie marvels such as “The Virgin Suicides” and “Drop Dead Gorgeous,” once second-guessed her career choices, thanks to one of her peers.
Dunst, who is nominated in the Best Supporting Actress Oscars category for “The Power of the Dog,” revealed during a The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter interview that her breakout “Bring It On” role came with an unexpected criticism.
“During that age I was wanting to be taken seriously too, so I think that even though it was so successful I think there’s part of me that always checks myself or checks what’s around me,” Dunst said. “I remember another actress said something, actually. She was like, ‘Well, I’m not in a dumb cheerleader movie’ or something. Her saying that just made me feel so terrible about myself.

Banana Split
Stars: Hannah Marks, Dylan Sprouse, Liana Liberato, Luke Spencer Roberts, Meagan Kimberly Smith, Haley Ramm, Jessica Hecht, Addison Reike, Jacob Batalon | Written by Hannah Marks, Joey Power | Directed by Benjamin Kasulke
April (Hannah Marks) has spent the last two years of high school in a relationship with Nick (Dylan Sprouse), from first frantic make-out session to final tear-stained breakup. In the aimless summer between graduation and college, the newly single April mends her heartbreak by striking up an unexpected friendship with an unlikely candidate: Nick’s new girlfriend, Clara (Liana Liberato).
With an oddball title like Banana Split I was expecting a quirky, just as oddball rom-com. However what you actually get is a touchy tale of two women who should be enemies, after all they’ve both dated and slept with the same guy, but instead find a common bond that leads to a sweet, tender platonic...

Considered by USA Network to have fired too many blanks of late, Shooter has been canceled.
The drama will be permitted to wrap up its ongoing third season, but will not return for a fourth, according to Variety.
Five episodes remain on Season 3.
For this, the Ryan Phillippe-led series is averaging 740,000 total viewers and just under a 0.2 demographic rating among 18-49-year olds, a sharp drop from last year's figures of 1.25 million and 0.35, respectively.
As is so often the case these days when a show gets the axe, fans are likely wondering whether Season 4 could be picked up by Hulu or some other streaming service.
And Variety does report that Universal Cable Productions and Paramount Television, which co-produce the series, are looking into this exact possibility.
But the odds are very low.

Oh yes, Swagger squad. Shit just got real.
Shooter Season 3 Episode 3 is the best installment of the season so far, and it did not disappoint. Not in any way.
There are a plethora of reasons why this hour kicked all kinds of ass, but one of the biggest ones was the team-ups and teamwork.
Shooter fandom often refers to themselves as part of the Swagger Squad, but this show is at its best when so many of its characters come together and comprise an actual Swagger Squad. Can we give a round of applause to our new member of the squad, Harris?
Yeah, he got sucked in before all of this, but Harris' first kill was like an initiation, and it solidified his spot on the team. He's a virgin no longer. They grow up so fast, don't they?

The “spectacular” in Lea Thompson’s “The Year of Spectacular Men” is meant to be taken with a grain of salt — or rather, several shots of tequila, which is how Izzy Klein winds up tumbling into bed with dudes who don’t respect her. In an opening montage, the guys tell us who she is: insecure, neurotic, depressive, and “sexy in a goofy Special Olympics way.” They’re jerks. But she convinces herself each one is Prince Charming because she wants her fairy tale happy ending on page one. This un-spectacular recent college grad would rather kiss creeps than fix her flaws, which means the film’s plot is basically hurdling relationships on a treadmill. Izzy’s going nowhere but she’s always about to fall flat on her face. And it’s as exhausting for the audience as it is for her.

Family affairs are often depicted on screen as plot subjects. That’s nothing new. It is, however, rare and unique to see the family dynamic front and center in terms of the creative team. In the case of The Year of Spectacular Men, that’s actually part of its specific charm. Directed by veteran actress Lea Thompson (in her feature debut), it stars and is directed by her daughter Madelyn Deutch. In addition, co-starring with a scene stealing turn is daughter/sibling Zoey Deutch, who we’ve mentioned here is a future A-lister. Opening tomorrow, this movie brings a trio of creative family members together for a charming indie that will leave a smile on your face for sure. The film is an indie romantic comedy/coming of age story. That may sound like one of a million, but the fun tone does help to set it apart a bit.

The time has come to see the “manic pixie dream girl” trope from the other side. We’ve viewed countless depictions of attractively quirky women serving as plot points pushing their male lead counterparts over whatever hump they find themselves struggling to conquer, each a one-dimensional prop used before being discarded or thanked upon figuring out the solution. We don’t catch even a glimpse of their motivations, emotions, or psychology because their identities are non-existent. Whether they remain in the protagonist’s life or not is inconsequential so long as he smiles before the credits roll. We’re to accept his selfishness as endearing, his happiness a success. These women “save” him from despair and yet we only know them through his fetishized projections. Madelyn Deutch has flipped that script.

"There's nothing accidental about any of this." MarVista Entertainment has debuted an official trailer for an indie comedy titled The Year of Spectacular Men, a feature film that marks the directorial debut of actress Lea Thompson. The film stars Madelyn Deutch as a young woman fresh out of college navigating the failures of post-college adulthood, ruining relationships with various men she meets. Zoey Deutch, who is the sister of Madelyn, co-stars with a cast including Avan Jogia, Nicholas Braun, Melissa Bolona, Jesse Bradford, Lea Thompson, and Brandon T. Jackson. This looks exactly like it sounds, even about a wannabe actress, but with a twist that a woman can't find the right guy - not that the guy can't find the ideal woman. It looks cute and funny. No one can say that Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh delivers the same movie time after time. In an eclectic three-decade career, he has directed crowd-pleasing all-star vehicles (“Ocean’s 11,” “Magic Mike”), action comedies (“Logan Lucky,” “Out of Sight”), political dramas (“Traffic,” “Che”), micro-mini experimental works (“Schizopolis,” “The Bubble,”) and even a film starring porn actress Sasha Grey (“The Girlfriend Experience”).
SEEOscar Best Director Gallery: Every Winner In Academy Award History
His latest film, “Unsane,” probably falls into the “experimental” category. Despite the presence of Golden Globe-winning actress Claire Foy (“The Crown”), this story of a young woman who accidentally checks herself into a mental institution was not filmed in a conventional manner. Soderbergh shot “Unsure” on an iPhone 7 Plus in 4K, using the app FiLMiC Pro, a far cry from one of his big-budget studio films such as “Ocean’s 11.” But that’s a dramatic example of just who Soderbergh is and why he matters.

It also created short films – known as Marvel One-Shots – that were designed to provide an opportunity for the giant brand to experiment with other, lesser-known characters, while filling the gaps in storytelling that inevitably open up within the confines of such a vast narrative endeavour. These short films became highly anticipated gems, and were included with Blu-ray releases of theatrical movies. Unfortunately, there hasn’t been a Marvel One-Shot since 2014, but that may be a situation that’s heading for change.

The newest instalment in the long line of horror B-movies ready to grace our silver screens, Dead Awake (2016) directed by Phillip Guzman is a generic film with generic characters and a not completely generic plot. Friends battle inter-dimensional being, people get killed, true love saves the day, so on and so forth.
Now that’s not to say that there’s nothing to like about it, but it definitely does Not bring anything new to the table. While the original plot does offer a decent backbone, it falls victim to the many tropes plaguing horror films these days. But in order to give this film a fair shot, we’re going to break it down to tackle the finer points.
First of all, the acting is not terrible, and considering the dialogue, may even be kind of good. That being said, it’s clear that the main stars Jocelin Donahue...
