The Color of Money is a movie of 1986 directed by Martin Scorsese. It is a continuation of The Hustler (1961), by Robert Rossen. Starring Paul Newman and Tom Cruise.
When Mr. Scorsese was not as acclaimed (yet), he did this movie which was a bit of a “filler”, which has become one of the reference movies about American pool.

Eddie Felson, an old pool player, reappears as a whiskey merchant when he meets Vince, an outstanding pool player. Together they embark on a father-son type of voyage of discovery.
The Movie. Review
This is not Scorsese´s best movie, it is not even a somewhat personal movie, it is just another movie in his filmography that rests on some video-clip moments (cool music and lots of changes of shots in a very “Eighties” style). The movie resorts to all sorts of commercial formulas,...

Don't go see the stage adaptation of “The Exorcist” for the special effects. The production being mounted by The Geffen Playhouse won't feature the same milky-green vomit, 360-degree twisting heads or demonic voice with a prodigious sexual vocabulary that made the 1973 horror film a hit. "That'll be left to your imagination," says Randall Arney, the Geffen's artistic direct. '"It's still scary as hell."The Geffen's version, which will be the first stage adaptation of the story that documents a 10-year-old girl's possession and redemption, is sourced from William Peter Blatty's novel. "It was my Bible, in a way," says John Pielmeier, the playwright who adapted the novel for the stage. Pielmeier's script was borne from a first draft "vomited" from his brain over 10 days. “I’ve never written anything that fast before,” he told the audience after a screening of the film version Tuesday at the ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood.

Gary Cole ("Office Space" and TV's "Entourage") and Edi Gathegi (the "Twilight" films and TV's "House") are co-starring in the L.A. premiere of an acclaimed Broadway play. They portray the primary characters in the Geffen Playhouse's staging of the bittersweet comedy "Superior Donuts," by Pulitzer- and Tony-winning Tracy Letts ("August: Osage County"). Cole plays disillusioned Arthur Przybyszewski, the proprietor of Superior Donuts, a run-down sweets shop that has been a community hub in Chicago for decades. When a fast-talking dreamer, the African-American Franco (Gathegi), drifts into the shop, the two vastly different men share a fateful encounter. A noted ensemble cast joins them, under the direction of Randall Arney.Back Stage: During its Broadway run, "Superior Donuts" was described by many observers as quite different from the works that brought Tracy Letts into prominence, such as the terrifying "Killer Joe" and the almost nihilistic "Bug." What do you find in "Superior.

Joanna Murray-Smith's farcical satire "The Female of the Species" seems to call for careful casting of a collegial ensemble of skilled comedic actors. The play revolves around a self-centered feminist author—whose works include "Madame Ovary"—when various people whose lives she affected descend on her home. The American premiere opens this week at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles, directed by Randall Arney. Annette Bening ("American Beauty," "Hedda Gabler" at the Geffen Playhouse) stars as Margot the author. While Margot struggles with her current manuscript, a former student, played by Merritt Wever ("Cavedweller," New York Theatre Workshop), arrives, bent on revenge. So, coincidentally, does Margot's daughter Tess, played by Mireille Enos ("Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" Broadway revival). David Arquette ("Hamlet 2") plays Tess' husband; Josh Stamberg ("Distracted" at the Roundabout) plays the cabbie who drove Tess there; and Julian Sands ("Stuff Happens" at the Mark Taper Forum) plays Margot's friend and publisher.
