Remaking established properties under a new vision is common in Hollywood. However, seeing a beloved modern classic get that treatment so quickly has become a problem for many stories. Despite The Talented Mr. Ripley only reaching its 25th anniversary this year, Steve Zaillian adapts Patricia Highsmith’s novel once again. Netflix’s new series, simply titled Ripley, follows the plot of the novel in more detail. Gone are the sun-soaked villas of Italy in favor of sterilized black-and-white photography. The slow and methodical series dips into the exacting and careful actions of a psychopath. Andrew Scott’s Tom is not fun. Instead, he’s a calculating murderer and destroyer. The result is a very different, but rewarding take on the iconic character.

When music supervisor Robin Urdang read the first episode of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” she knew she was in for a challenge.
The pilot of Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino’s hourlong comedy called for a song from Barbra Streisand, an artist whose work rarely clears for film, let alone television. It immediately set a standard for Urdang’s working relationship with the Palladinos and the level of communication and adaptability she’d need on the Prime Video series.
Urdang, along with supervising sound editor/re-recording mixer Ron Bochar, production mixer Mathew Price, and the “Maisel” music and lyrics team of Curtis Moore and Thomas Mizer, spoke to IndieWire as part of the season’s Consider This series about their Emmy-winning work on the indelible comedy and specific challenges and joys of Season 5. It didn’t take long for the conversation to turn to Episode 4, “Susan,” which features not one...

“Over hill, over dale, as we hit the dusty trail, and those caissons go rolling along. In and out, hear them shout, counter march and right about, and those caissons go rolling along.”
Catchy tune, isn’t it? The war tune, “The Army Goes Rolling Along” was belted out on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel every time someone used the bathroom in Gordon Ford head writer Alvin’s office. God forbid anyone in the writers’ room hear someone pee.
But this was the ’60s when modesty and manners were still important. So singing the catchy song was an added quirk to tickle the audience’s funny bone.
Why was ‘The Army Goes Rolling Along’ chosen for ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ Season 5?
Even choosing the right tune for the writers’ room scene was a bit for Maisel writers and creators Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino. “The funny story is Dan Palladino wrote that episode.

They’ve been “married” for the past five seasons of Prime Video’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. But actors Tony Shalhoub and Marin Hinkle will take that final bow as Abe and Rose Weissman this season.
Like most Maisel viewers, Shalhoub and Hinkle have grown fond of Rose and Abe so saying farewell to the series and the colorful characters is bittersweet.
Marin Hinkle will miss Rose’s humor on ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’
Hinkle’s portrayal of Rose leaned into being a product of that era but also dug out deep-rooted feminist tendencies. Rose also often delivered some of the best witty, dry remarks. She told Showbiz Cheat Sheet that she is going to miss Rose’s understated but hilarious sense of humor.

Back on September 21, 2021, Dick Wolf’s FBI franchise launched its first triple crossover, a successful gambit attaching then-new FBI: International to Tuesday night’s popular FBI and FBI: Most Wanted team. Eighteen months later, the members of the three very different and far-flung task forces are reuniting — this time, to foil a potential mass casualty event that’s accidentally discovered during an operation being run by FBI’s New York Field Office agent Stuart Scola (John Boyd), who’s posing as a black-market seller of industrial-grade explosives. Here’s a preview of the gripping three hours. The action kicks off on Tuesday, April 4 at 8/7c on CBS. Here, FBI executive producer and crossover supervisor Rick Eid explains each episode’s through-lines to TV Insider. Philippe Antonello/CBS A Crime in Europe The action begins on International (taking FBI’s timeslot this week) with the kidnapping of an American architect living in Rome.

Actor Jim Caviezel made a big impression with his leading performance in The Passion of the Christ. He put his blood, sweat, and tears into the making of this film – literally. Some serious accidents occurred on the set that left him injured several times, which tested his resolve. Another actor from The Passion of the Christ accidentally whipped Caviezel for real, which began to make him feel “like Satan.”

Chicago – When I walked out of my screening for 2013’s “Romeo and Juliet” with Hailee Steinfeld (Oscar nominated for “True Grit”) and London’s Douglas Booth (previously unknown to the U.S.), I had to remember that not everyone’s seen this story in one way or another.
Rating: 2.0/5.0
So, I immediately polled four teenage girls. Batting away their butterflies and seeing through the hearts glossing over their eyes, they unanimously loved it, thought Booth was so very dreamy and went home with a new outlook on love – probably that love conquers all. For their modern-day version, they’d probably even give up texting for 12 whole days if it meant they couldn’t be with their boy crush.

Roberto Benigni, To Rome with Love According to English-language reports, Italian critics have given a mixed reception to Woody Allen's To Rome with Love (formerly known as Nero Fiddled and Bop Decameron, and currently known as A Roma con amore in Rome itself). They've reportedly complained that writer-director Allen presents a view of Rome and Italians that is both idealized and stereotyped. At the To Rome with Love press conference held earlier today, Allen provided quite a bit of idealization ("Rome is a city unlike any other in the world…"), while one of the film's stars, Roberto Benigni, provided a defense of the filmmaker's portrayals. As an example of how real-life Italians are just like Italians in American movies, Benigni claimed that during the shoot, an ambulance whizzing by came to an abrupt halt. Its occupants got out, asked to pose for pictures with Benigni, and then rushed out...

"I don’t know where that came from," Allen told journalists at a press conference for To Rome with Love, "but I assure you: I have not spoken to anyone in Copenhagen, I don’t know anyone in Copenhagen, and I have no plans to make a film in Copenhagen." He added that his next project will be set in San Francisco and New York City. Regarding his recent films set in various European cities after decades working in New York, Allen explained that "the spirit of London or Barcelona or Paris or Rome is very similar to that of New York. There are cosmetic differences, of course, but the spirit is similar,...
