Editor’s note: Deadline originally posted this tribute on July 26 after Tony Dow’s family erroneously announced his death. The actor died Wednesday in hospice care.
Jerry Mathers is paying tribute to his Leave It to Beaver co-star, remembering Tony Dow as “not only my brother on tv, but in many ways in life as well.”

“It is with the utmost sadness I learned this morning of my co-star and lifelong friend Tony Dow’s passing,” Mathers wrote on Facebook. “He was not only my brother on tv, but in many ways in life as well. Tony leaves an empty place in my heart that won’t be filled. He was always the kindest, most generous, gentle, loving, sincere, and humble man, that it was my honor and privilege to be able to share memories together with for 65 years.

Don’t expect Supernatural‘s Mark Sheppard to make a reappearance on the CW series anytime soon — even as a guest star.
Earlier this week, TVLine confirmed that the actor would not be returning as a series regular in Season 13. (Sheppard previously confirmed his exit in an Instagram post, insisting that it was “time for something new.”) Shortly after our story broke, Supernatural Co-ep Jim Michaels hinted that viewers have not seen the last of Sheppard’s fan-favorite Crowley character, declaring on Twitter, “Never say never.”

With the premiere of "Supernatural" Season 9, the Winchester brothers have a lot to deal with. Dean (Jensen Ackles) is lying to Sam (Jared Padalecki) about ... everything. Castiel (Misha Collins), meanwhile, has to face life as a human hunted by angels.
Add in some near death, and the new season is ready to go. Ackles and Padalecki recently talked about the premiere and what comes next from the Vancouver set of "Supernatural." Watch the videos below to find out what they had to say.
The guys first address the issue of how Dean is lying to Sam about Ezekiel and the younger Winchester's very survival. Obviously, it's not going to end well. Some background on the episode and additional secrets round out this short talk.
There must be consequences for all of these actions, of course. That will soon become apparent. Not only will Dean need to keep lying to his brother,...

Last season of "Supernatural" introduced us to a new hunter, Garth, played by DJ Qualls. Yesterday via Twitter Qualls let us all know that he will indeed be returning.
Qualls wrote: "A week from today, Im heading back to Vancouver to play with my buddies @jarpad and Jensen. Some exciting stuff in that ep. Can't wait."
To which the show's co-executive producer Jim Michaels responded: "@TheOnlyDJQualls and we are excited to have you back! The Vancouver Police department is also looking forward to having you back too!"
Not sure you remember Qualls' character? Here's a clip from Episode 7.18 in which he's featured. Look for lots more "Supernatural" news soon!

It looks like former X-Files star Nicholas Lea is doing double-duty in his home town of Vancouver. He'll be appearing in two Vancouver-based shows: Supernatural and Once Upon a Time.
The rumor has been floating around that Lea would be making a guest appearance on Supernatural, which was recently confirmed by one of the show's producers, Jim Michaels. He tweeted: "Yes, I can confirm the other reports that he is in fact guest starring in Supernatural". Other known guest stars for the show include Road Trip & Memphis Beat's DJ Qualls, who is appearing in this week's episode. We will be seeing Lea in an early 2012 episode. Supernatural's midseason finale airs in early December and then the show returns with new episodes on Friday, January 6.
Lea will also be appearing in the new ABC series, Once Upon a Time, which was recently picked up for a full season by the network.

Fair Warning #1 - If you know me, you know I hate meta episodes. Don't get me wrong. I love meta. Changing Channels was awesome and little winks like in Caged Heat when Crowley said, "Castiel, haven't seen you all season" make my day. I just can't stand meta for meta's sake and the refuse it makes canon in its wake. To me, only The Monster at the End of the Book and The Real Ghostbusters were meta episodes, both of which make my Top 10 Worst Episodes list. I've dreaded this episode. However, Unforgiven and Mannequin 3 were both subpar episodes to me, equally boring and equally filler. So, tired of writing negatively about Supernatural for 2 weeks, I decided not to recap this one. Until I saw it. Unlike many, it is not my favorite episode of season 6, not even close. But, it would land squarely in the middle for me. Some...

Looking for more details about that "breaking the fourth wall" episode of "Supernatural" we recently told you about? We've got 'em along with a few other tidbits on upcoming episodes so if you're the type that likes to be kept in the dark, you might want to skip this story. Unless you can't resist a few stills from Episode 12, "Like a Virgin".
First things first. AOL's TV Squad recently had a chat with "Supernatural" showrunner Sera Gamble, and the highlights follow:
"The craziest meta episode of all time", as Gamble calls it, now has a title - "The French Mistake" - and will air on February 18th.
"We have an episode in which Sam and Dean find themselves in essentially ... to shorthand it, we'll call it a parallel world," Gamble explained. In the world in which they find themselves, "there is no magic, there is a television show called 'Supernatural',...

As runaway production continues unabated, state film commissions need to collaborate rather than compete with each other, a panel of industry experts said. "You're going to realize that we're really not competitors, that we're partners in a great vision to do great things for the United States of America," Louisiana Lt. Gov. Mitchell Landrieu said during the keynote address Saturday at a Producers Guild of America seminar on winning back domestic production with incentives. "A rising tide lifts all boats", he added. Held at the Pacific Design Center, the seminar's panel -- which included 20th Century Fox executive vp Fred Baron; Walt Disney Pictures senior vp Paul Steinke; producers Doug Claybourne, Jim Michaels and Jonathan Sanger; producer and tax expert Dama Chasle; and tax experts Rick Rosas and Jeff Tolan -- discussed the obstacles to keeping production in the U.S. Robert J. Dowling, editor-in-chief and publisher of The Hollywood Reporter, served as moderator.
