The latest trailer for "Deadpool & Wolverine" suggests the movie might be even more of a cameo-fest than we'd previously predicted.
Hugh Jackman is back as Logan, of course, and he's bringing leftover characters from the erstwhile 20th Century Fox's Marvel Universe. We already knew Elektra (Jennifer Garner), Pyro (Aaron Stanford), and Toad would be back. So will Wolverine's archenemy Sabretooth, perhaps finally giving Logan a chance at closure.
Around the 1:50 minute mark of the new trailer, you were probably focused on the decapitated head of a Giant Man variant (his rotting skull concealed within his ant-styled helmet). I'm much more curious about the characters standing beneath this makeshift base, who look to be familiar (mutant) faces from previous "X-Men" films: Yuriko Oyama/Lady Deathstrike from "X2" and Azazel from "X-Men: First Class."
Both are seen at too far a distance to determine if their previous actors...

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is generating significant anticipation as one of the most exciting upcoming projects in the MCU. Scheduled for release in 2024, it’s already drawing praise from those who have seen previews, with expectations high for its impact on the franchise’s reputation.
As with any highly anticipated project, rumors abound regarding potential cameos, variants, and plot elements, with some confirmations, such as Jennifer Garner’s Elektra, and others still under speculation, supported by mounting evidence. To provide clarity, let’s explore the confirmed and rumored cameos and variants expected in the film.
Aaron Stanford – John Allerdyce/Pyro (Confirmed)
Aaron Stanford’s return was initially speculated, along with a few other minor X-Men villains, though his appearance was later confirmed in the trailer. While he only briefly appears on screen, his unmistakable costume leaves no doubt about his identity. Earlier this year, he had denied any involvement in the movie.

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is one of the most exciting upcoming projects. It’s the only MCU movie bound to be released in 2024, and judging by the opinions of people who already saw parts of it, it’s going to be an MCU saver and restore the faith of fans in the franchise overall.
Just like with every anticipated project, plenty of rumors are going around about potential cameos, variants, and elements of the movie. Some have been confirmed like Garner’s Elektra, and some remain under speculation, with more and more evidence stacking to support them. This is why we decided to overview all confirmed (and rumored) cameos & variants that are supposed to be included in the movie.
1. Aaron Stanford – John Allerdyce/Pyro (Confirmed)
Aaron Stanford was only rumored to make a comeback, as well as some other minor X-Men villains. His appearance was ultimately confirmed with the release of the trailer.

While the dual union strikes of the writers and the actors postponed some projects, once the studios and unions reached an agreement, there was a lot of catch-up to play. The postponed schedules meant that this year is seeing a delay in several releases. It also looks as if some studios are going to see some releases grouped together. According to The Hollywood Reporter, popular Netflix shows that would have seen a more dispersed schedule are now bunched for later 2024.
The latter half of the year will see the continuation of Netflix’s slate of popular original programming like the anticipated new season of Squid Game, the streaming platform’s biggest series of all time. The schedule will also premiere The Night Agent as well as the final season of the popular Karate Kid sequel series, Cobra Kai. The new season of Outer Banks is also on the dock, plus...

Liev Schreiber is getting candid about what he’s learned about fame over the years, saying that it alone won’t make people truly happy.
The Emmy-nominated actor shared in an interview with Haute Living magazine, published online Thursday, that after decades in the entertainment industry, he realized the importance of working on projects that he’s actually passionate about.
“I work for hire, as they say, and like to make money,” he explained. “I have a growing family. The older I get, the more I think I want it to matter when I work. Of course, it doesn’t always — in fact, it rarely does — but it’s nice when it does, when one of your jobs means something to people. That feels good, like the job does what it was supposed to do in the beginning, which is to connect you to people.”

Sue Naegle and Ali Krug are in business with Universal Studio Group’s UCP.
The Emmy-winning pair has signed an overall deal with the Universal division through which their newly established Dinner Party Productions will develop and produce series.
This marks the first time former UTA, HBO Entertainment and Annapurna Pictures boss Naegle has worked directly with Universal. She exited her Chief Content Officer role at Annapurna in 2022. As we reported at the time, Krug had initially taken over her TV division responsibilities, but has since reunited with her former boss and long-time production partner to launch Dinner Party.
In development is a series adaptation of Elon Hilderbrand’s novel ‘The Five-Star Weekend’ for Universal’s sister streamer Peacock, with Bekah Brunstetter penning the script. The book follows a popular food blogger, who, after a tragedy, brings friends from distinct times in her life to spend a weekend in Nantucket.

From the director of acclaimed classics such as Max Payne and A Good Day to Die Hard, as well as the second-unit camera operator on Space Truckers, comes a movie made simply because its release date was badass. Join JoBlo Horror as we shout at the devil with The Omen. Welcome to our horror party, kids, where we take some horror films (good or bad) and make a fun game out of it. I’m Mike Conway, and because of the release of The First Omen, we are looking into the eyes of evil with The Omen released in 2006 (watch it Here).
The Omen follows diplomat Robert Thorn and his wife Katherine. After Katherine unknowingly gives birth to a stillborn child, Robert is approached by a priest to take a newborn from a mother who had just died. As the years go by, grisly and mysterious deaths begin to surround their child,...

Damien Thorn is the antichrist, and the trilogy that tells his unholy tale remains popular almost fifty years later. Indeed, while putting together this Omen movie ranked list and revisiting the original franchise, I was surprised at how well the old movies held up. Omen fans will be happy that the series has been restarted in a pretty interesting way this weekend, with The First Omen a surprisingly excellent prequel to the original trilogy (check out our interviews with the director and cast here), even if it takes one large liberty involving Damien’s birth that some fans may have an issue with. So, how do the Omen films rank against each other? Let’s take a look, but remember that the Fox TV movie, Omen IV: The Awakening, is not included, as I’m sticking with feature films.

“It is a pretty great crop of plays this year, several that have become big commercial hits,” declares Sam Eckmann about the many dramas and revivals in contention for nominations at the 77th Tony Awards. Sam and I met for the very first time this season to discuss the 15 productions eligible for nominations, reviewing our picks in seven of the 11 play categories. Watch our 2024 Tony Awards slugfest above.
In the top category of Best Play, we overlap on four of our five predicted nominees: “Stereophonic,” “Prayer for the French Republic,” “Mother Play” and “Patriots.” While I tentatively pick the upcoming “Mary Jane” by Amy Herzog for the fifth slot, Sam backs “Jaja’s African Hair Braiding” by Jocelyn Bioh, saying it “got amazing reviews, enough to break in here.” We also discuss a possible surprise nomination for either “The Cottage” or “Grey House.” The other eligible productions are “I Need...

Ron Nyswaner will soon be traveling to New York to reunite with his Writers Guild of America East fellows for a grand occasion. The Oscar-nominated screenwriter, producer and showrunner has been selected to receive the Walter Bernstein Award at the 76th Writers Guild Awards at New York’s Edison Ballroom on April 14.
The honor — named after the late screenwriter who was blacklisted for his political views only to persevere and get his career back on track with such credits as Fail-Safe, Semi-Tough and Yanks — is presented to writers “who have demonstrated with creativity, grace and bravery a willingness to confront social injustice in the face of adversity,” per the organization.
Nyswaner has been doing that for pretty much his entire career. A prime example is Jonathan Demme’s 1993 film Philadelphia. Penned by Nyswaner, the Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington-starrer was the first major Hollywood film to dramatize the real-world...

I find it ironic how despite existing on a planet where pretty much every living thing originated in the ocean, one of humanity’s most widespread fears is thalassophobia – the fear of the deep ocean. Whether it’s some form of genetic memory that continues to haunt our species or a natural reaction to witnessing one of the deadliest ecosystems in the world, it’s no surprise storytellers have been taking advantage of this fear for millennia.

The Broadway production of John Patrick Shanley’s Doubt: A Parable, starring Liev Schreiber and Amy Ryan, has been extended by a week. The show will now close on Sunday, April 21.
The Roundabout Theatre Company’s performance opened on March 7 at the Todd Haimes Theatre. The performance company attributed the extension to a demand for tickets.
The production was originally scheduled to open on Feb. 29 but was delayed when Tyne Daly, who had been cast opposite Schreiber, dropped out due to an unknown illness. Ryan joined the ensemble as Daly’s replacement and has been playing the lead role of Sister Aloysius since Feb. 13.
Schrieber and Ryan have both been praised by critics for their pitch-perfect performances.
Quincy Tyler Bernstine and Zoe Kazan are also stars in the show.

When a World War II drama series about airmen features the likes of Austin Butler, Barry Keoghan and Callum Turner, it’s reasonable to presume that one of them would be playing the story’s quintessential hotshot pilot. Instead, that honor belongs to Nate Mann, who portrays Lieutenant Robert “Rosie” Rosenthal, one of the most decorated real-life B-17 pilots to serve in WWII, on Apple TV+’s Masters of the Air. Rosie had already established a successful career as a lawyer in New York until the attack on Pearl Harbor eventually led him to Laredo Air Force Base, where he developed his crack piloting skills.
Knowing full well the significance of Rosenthal both on the screen and in real life, Mann refused to gloss over the details of the B-17 and the many responsibilities that a bomber pilot has before, during and after a flight. So he took the words...

Guy Ritchie has been set to direct and executive produce the Paramount+ Ray Donovan series, ‘The Donovans.’
The forthcoming series, which is currently in development, has been described as a loose adaptation of the hit Showtime series that ran for seven seasons. The original show starred Liev Schreiber as a professional “fixer” who worked in Los Angeles, taking on high-profile clients and solving their problems using any means necessary. While the new series will draw inspiration from the original, it is expected to feature a fresh storyline and unique characters that will set it apart from its predecessor.
The spin-off description reads; With the most powerful clients in Europe, ‘The Donovans’ will see family fortunes and reputations at risk, odd alliances unfold, and betrayal around every corner; and while the family might be London’s most elite fixers today, the nature of their business means there is no guarantee what’s in store tomorrow.

The world of Ray Donovan is expanding. Paramount+ has ordered a spin-off series loosely based on the Showtime series titled The Donovans. Guy Ritchie is behind the new 10-episode drama, which will follow two generations of gangsters, their businesses, their complex relationships, and the man they call to fix their problems.
After seven seasons, Ray Donovan was cancelled on Showtime four years ago, but viewers saw more of Ray in a wrap-up film in January 2022. It's not yet known if that show's star, Liev Schreiber, will somehow be part of the new series.

As we prepare for the anticipated release of Guy Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare in theaters on April 19, the Snatch and Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels director is ready to return to television for a Ray Donovan spin-off series. Loosely based on the hit Showtime series starring Liev Schreiber, The Donovans extends the show’s “fixer” premise to an elite family unit.
Here’s the official description for The Donovans:
“With the most powerful clients in Europe, The Donovans will see family fortunes and reputations at risk, odd alliances unfold, and betrayal around every corner; and while the family might be London’s most elite fixers today, the nature of their business means there is no guarantee what’s in store tomorrow.”
That’s the thing about empires; they can come crashing down anytime. You must be slick and think several steps ahead of opponents to keep the walls from tumbling down.

After his "nightmare" experience with, and subsequent departure from, the troubled development of the next Scream movie, it would appear that Happy Death Day/Freaky director Christopher Landon has found a much less stressful next gig. He's back with the Blumhouse family for a new thriller called Drop, which has The White Lotus' Season 2 breakout Meghann Fahy starring.
Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach are behind the script for this one, which surely no one will be all that surprised to learn is being kept quiet on the plot front. But Deadline has heard it's "a fast-paced thriller". What can we speculate based on the title? Er… A drop of poison is involved? Or probably more likely it might involve a potential fall from a great height? (Likely with fewer bonkers vulture interactions).
This one will be a co-production between Blumhouse and Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes gang, with Universal handling distribution.

Eurovision organizers are swiftly “scrutinizing” the lyrics of Israel’s 2024 entry amidst question marks over their political nature.
The European Broadcasting Union (Ebu) said it is “in the process” of examining the lyrics to the song from Israeli performer Eden Golan titled ‘October Rain.’
Israeli broadcaster Kan has said it has no intention of changing the song even though there are still three weeks until the final submission date.
Political messages are forbidden from Eurovision and have led to songs being banned in the past such as Georgia’s 2009 entry.
The “October Rain” lyrics, which Kan confirmed are correct when they were leaked to the media earlier this week, include: “They were all good children, each one of them,” and, “There’s no air left to breathe,” along with a reference to “flowers,” an Israeli slang term for fallen soldiers.

Gene Simmons, Sharon Osbourne, and Boy George are among the celebrities who have signed an open letter rejecting a movement to prevent Israel from competing in the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest.
The annual Eurovision song contest welcomes different nations to compete, and includes countries outside of Europe, including Israel and Australia, among others. There have been calls from artists from countries such as Sweden and Finland demanding Israel’s exclusion from the contest due to the latter’s current military action in Gaza.
Last month, a letter was issued on behalf of more than 1,000 Swedish artists — signed by music acts like Robyn, First Aid Kit, and Fever Ray — reading in part, “Allowing Israel’s participation undermines not only the spirit of the competition but the entire public service mission. It also sends the signal that governments can commit war crimes without consequences. Therefore, we appeal to the Ebu: Exclude Israel from...

A group of 400 actors, musicians and entertainment execs including Helen Mirren, Liev Schreiber and Gene Simmons have penned an open letter supporting the decision for Israel to remain in the Eurovision Song Contest.
Released by non-profit industry org Creative Community for Peace, the letter backs the decision of Eurovision organizer the European Broadcasting Union (Ebu) to keep Israel in this year’s contest. The Ebu has been under pressure from detractors to ban the nation over the bombardment of Gaza in response to Hamas’ October 7 attacks.
Other signees include Scooter Braun, Boy George, Mayim Bialik, Haim Saban, Julianna Margulies, Sharon Osbourne and Debra Messing.
Punishing Israel would be an “inversion of justice,” the letter says. “Israel is fighting a war against a European Union-designated terrorist group that once again broke a ceasefire that day, and then went on to slaughter over 1,200 people,” it adds. “This current round of fighting is...
