Locke monologue
A man's life, Ivan Locke, unravels as he drives to London to be present for the birth of his child conceived during a one night stand. Leaving his wife and children behind he berates his father for abandoning his family when Locke was a child and vows he will not make the same mistake.
The actor's eyes are initially drawn to the wing mirror of his car as he places distance between himself and his dilemma. But as he fully embraces the gravity of the situation his eyes now focus on the interior rear view mirror. He has brought the outside to the inside and can no longer detach himself from it until the end of the monologue when he resolves himself to 'fix it.' and his eyes return to the exterior wing mirror.
Enigma, retardation, resolution.
