Sseul-sseul-ha-go cha-ran-ha-sin-do-ggae-bi (2016)
Great potential.. but not quite fulfilled
The leading actors and the beautiful production design will make it worth your while. But than: how can you ever go wrong with Gong Yoo?
Having said that, this drama starts very promising, the first 5 episodes had some great action scenes, laughs and romance, yet it looses a bit of all of those things during its runtime. 10 Episodes would have been enough! Even though it stays totally watchable, with some more, some less original ideas, it will feel a little prolonged. They could have made more of the great cast and quite as great story. I especially missed that cool magic action stuff from the first few episodes. And there are so much tears shed.. c'mon! Still: worth watching, the ending is authentic and Gong Yoo (!).. great as ever.
Sha Ma Te, Wo Ai Ni (We Were Smart) (2019)
a scene of modern slavery
Worth seeing! There is severe loneliness and desperation as your gain an insight to what costs china has been rising to its financial powers over the last decade. These kids at the never ending production line, with the never ending sound of machinery in their ears. Their day to day life and actual working conditions (recorded secretly with cellphones) is absolutely bitter even if you have already known that stuff like this exists. Its modern slavery, with communities systematically shattered. It is important to give them a voice and this documentation does.
Only Lovers Left Alive (2013)
well acted, gentle, dark, musical scenery film
As many reviewers declare this movies lacks a story line, at least in a sense of a dramatic plot, which has its climax, its counterpoints or what ever you mide expect. Thats owed to the fact, that this movies shows - right in the logic of the ungoing, everlasting existence of its characters - more a scenery than a stoy, more an image than an epic drama, more the foundation of a tragic but sweet love. Therefore its quite accurate, that a plot seems to be missing - in my opinion: its not missing at all, its just not very much driving, its floating around there some where, between the characters.
The movie is also a testimonial of Jim Jarmuschs admiration for music in general and a specific music scene, so it mide seem a litle nerdy. Still, if you can get your mind of what a typical vampire movie should look like, its realy a great movie!
Xi huan ni (2017)
precisely told love story with cinematic opulence
Kaneshiro Takeshi is a fine actor. Which he proves once again in this enjoyable love story, where he develops his character with quite a degree of fineness. He deffenatly stands out and gives this movie a finer taste, as the set is very artistic and gets a little artificial. Dialogs are well written - good deal of work.
