Battlestar Galactica (2004)
Ignore any negativity, BSG is simply amazing
To be honest, I was never a die hard fan of the show. I don't own any swag or discuss on any BSG forums (besides IMDb). In fact, I never even gave the show much attention when it was on the air. People would mention it when they itemized their list of favorite series, and I would dismiss it's name.
But then one day in early April 2009, my roommates and I decided to watch the two hour pilot. We finished the entire series by May 3rd. The show had completely engulfed all three of us. We watched it religiously when ever we could, completely captivated by the story of BSG. Many nights were spent past 2am getting in 2 or 3 episodes. Plenty of "OMG" texts were sent to one another on the occasions when we would watch an episode alone if the others worked. I even had my own Mother watching the show when she visited for Easter (she came in mid season two and was happy to watch episodes in a row..the woman is in her 40's)
Now I know that no one really cares about any of this, but I'm going to utilize the purpose of IMDb and say that I (and my roommates) found this show to be amazing, simply amazing. In fact, I wouldn't even know where to begin to praise BSG, because it wasn't just one thing but a combination of everything: From the unbelievable storyline, to the array of complicated and changing characters, to the original style of cinematography. It all came together beautifully, and it was all wonderfully immersed in the brilliance of Bear McCreary.
I can honestly admit, I have never been so captivated by a TV show. And now, after spending the entire last weekend (9.5 hours) watching season 4 (4.5), it's over. And like many of you, I miss the journey of BSG.
Yes, I give this series a ten, because nothing, nothing disappointed me in BSG. I will be introducing/recommending this series for years to come.
The Invisible (2007)
Good Movie
Just got back from seeing this movie, and with all honesty i can say that i really enjoyed it! Usually i turn to the general consensus of IMDb to get a feel for movies, but don't be convinced by the majority of posters, this was a good movie. I'm not entirely sure why so many people had a problem with this film? Maybe they were upset with the their interpretation of the trailer, thinking it was something that it wasn't? I know when i saw the trailer, i thought it was going to be a "Ghost solves his own murder movie", and granted that looked cool, but now that I've seen it, I'm actually glad there was more to it than that. The Invisible was a story of a Boy who gets a chance to see the lives of people from a different point of view. I'm going to try to a state a few examples without spoiling anything. First of all I'm not saying The Invisible was inspirationally deep and meaningful. It wasn't, but it wasn't created to be. It was however, entertaining, and in some moments original. The bird scene for example, was different. The evolving relationship between Nick and Annie was, in it's own way, beautiful & thought provoking. The idea of 'spirit & body separating' was nothing new to cinema, although the interactions Nick has with his surroundings, how he imagined and experienced scenarios that weren't happening at all was entertaining. More so, the soundtrack for the Invisible was perfect. The movie was good, true to it's trailer or not. I would easily recommend this to anyone. And to anyone who has something uncreative to say (negative or positive) why don't you go ahead and create a story line, hire some actors, shoot on beautiful location's, and THEN, come in here and deconstruct someone Else's work.
Thanks to my girl, she used her "girlfriend" powers to make me see this movie.
