Knives Out (2019)
Just a great murder mystery
The plot was great and the characters fantastic but what thrilled me the most was the way it was all put together: cinematography, music, editing. It all fit perfectly to incite the right amount of thrill in the audience.
Kajillionaire (2020)
The Movie I Didn't Know I Needed At The Right Moment.
Tension is built up at the right times and the starting scenes serve as very purposeful forms of establishing every character's personality and later building that into the story. The music, sound design and use of no sound in some cases perfectly fits the story and what it tries to convey. And the ending is just right, well thought out and while it might not be the most curveball ending, it finishes off the story with the right bitter sweet ending it deserves.
Almost Friends (2016)
Confusing
I think the only way to describe this movie is confusing and all over the place. I couldn't even enjoy it as a chick flick or romcom. The script was really bad, like really. And the story was like Simple harmonic motion, oscillating, one moment on one side, the next on the complete other. The story really isn't coherent and the personalities aren't developed properly or even make any sense (because of the bad script). I wouldn't suggest watching this movie if i'm being honest, you'll just get confused.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012)
disappointing coming from the book
I had high expectations. The book is probably one of the best i've ever read, the reviews and ratings are great, some scenes i've seen in movie montages are great. But this movie wasn't it. They casted badly, missed out parts of the book and it didn't feel authentic like the book did. There were some scenes of redemption, passing out at the end, final tunnel scene and some other small scenes. But i didn't feel like this was the book. If you're not coming from the book it might be great, but for me they really didn't make "The Perks of Being a Wallflower".
Ex Machina (2014)
on the edge of my seat
Pretty simply a great movie with lots of complexity, character and plot development and suspense. The music was also amazing, really fit the whole movie. I would suggest not knowing anything before going into the movie, it'll build the suspense even more. I was really on the edge of my seat the entire time.
La La Land (2016)
Jazz is about the Future
Loved the music, dancing, acting, casting and the bitter annoying ending.
Looper (2012)
complete 180 halfway
The first part of the movie was great, loved the aesthetic and the vibe going on. The whole structure and repetitive nature of the first half really hit home and not only ressonated but made sure to showcase JGL's character Joe's feelings and his life. really well put together and gave me bladerunner vibes almost.
Second half however went from being a more sci fi yet retro looking movie to something more like IT or the earth parts on interstellar? don't know why those movies came to mind but the whole atmosphere changes so quickly and its almost like 2 different movies.
i would have loved to see a completed first half and then a second half, as two seperate movies. The kid with TK was a bit weird and didn't fit in with the plot from before.
overall, good movie, but be ready to watch 2 smaller movies instead of one.
Hamilton (2020)
the musical of the year
I cried.
Beautifully filmed, well crafted story structure and an amazing story with awe inspiring music, singing, dancing and acting.
A must watch for everyone.
Taken (2008)
...
There is so much to learn from this movie, not only is the plot really well developed but even though it's a quite predictable and cliche movie (came out in 2008, all the movies that followed just copied this, but watching it in 2019 still makes it predictable), the cinematography is excellent and everything fits perfectly into place. Even the music is good, especially the end credit piano (The Dragster Wave by Nathalie Mchaly/Ghinzu). Oh and Neeson does a really good job and his voice fits perfectly, I just loved his voice with the script.
Now You See Me (2013)
Absolutely phenomenal movie 11/10 recommend watching
Like i said in the title, this movie is really good... and i mean REALLY good... The story was actually entertaining even though some movies nowadays have the same cliche story and the spectacles they made were extremely fun to watch. Before the last show, near the end when you know what happens, I knew it wasn't true and i was correct but damn after that the turns and plot twists were unpredictable in a good way. Definitely recommend watching this movie.
John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017)
Amazing visuals
John Wick: Chapter 2 really showed us some absolutely eye drawing visuals, not gonna lie, the starting sequence at the start was really good and the action was also like DAMN. But, for my taste at least, the story was a bit boring and repetitive some pointless scenes that just gave combat for no purpose except to excite the viewer and after a while they do start to seem repetitive.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
One of the best movies this year for sure
I absolutely loved this film, while a few things were predictable such as the uncle :( RIP, the rest of the film was just fantastic... Awesome music soundtrack and really immersive story line and visuals were... MMHHHH AMAZING!!
A must watch, inspiring, emotional and relaxing in the same movie???!?!??!
Inception (2010)
Made me believe I was in the movie
I honestly believed i was in the movie, it's so immersing and honestly a great movie... i was at the edge of my seat when experiencing the last part. Thank you so much for this amazing movie!
Skyscraper (2018)
Absolutely fantastic
I honestly don't know why people are hating on this film, it builds a lot of suspense and has got a interesting plot with action, humor and drama. Do yourself a favour and go watch it. :D Merry Christmas to you all btw.
