Fun
19 September 2012
One of the things I liked the most about reading 'The Hunger Games' was the intensity of how it was written. Feeling the story seemed maybe even more important than reading it, so when I went to see the movie, my expectations were very high.

On the upside: Great performance by the main characters, excellent visuals and well directed.

On the downside: The book gives a lot of context as to how the characters feel and how things have come to be the way they are. The movie changes a number of things to make it at all possible to show the story and for me the choices made took down the quality of the story a bit. To give at least some context, it took the movie a while to get really started and even despite that, some of the characters, again in my opinion, didn't really develop in depth the way they should.

Long story short, I liked the movie and thought it was a nice adaptation from the book, but it lacked a bit the intensity from the book.

Warning: Spoilers
I'm a sucker for these Lifetime popcorn movies and Cyberstalker is another fun one. I used to think it was cool to have good looking guys stalking me online, now not so much LOL. Dan Levy as the ultimate computer nerd puts in a great performance as does the dreamy Marco Grazzini as Ms OC's boyfriend.

I found myself yelling at the screen "Don't go in there" a couple times, which I'm sure freaked out my neighbors haha. I was torn on the whodunnit, still always thinking that it was going to turn back to the art dealer (great interrogation scene performance by the way). The last shot I wasn't sure if they were setting it up for a sequel or just saying that we're all being watched all the time. Ambiguous can be good I guess. It definitely got me to check the locks on my door a couple extra times before I went to bed.

As most of these movies, it suffers from budget issues but that's the nature of the LMN beast. Where it lacks in production value, it makes up for in good old suspenseful fun.

The Burning Bed (1984 TV Movie)

Miss You Farrah

This has to be the best TV Movie ever created. Directed by the same guy who directed Xanadu.... [??? How's that possible? He also directed WALMART: the High Cost of Low Prices, too] His direction of The Burning Bed is superb, to say the least.

You really feel as though her fear and terror are your own through claustrophobic cinematography in the scenes where she's being attacked. The dignity the cast and director were able to conjure for this sad story is far better than television deserves. The violence she imparts upon her husband gives her no satisfaction for she is not a malicious or vengeful woman.

I believe this movie has inspired countless women to leave abusive relationships since the first day it aired and more so as time has passed. Through it's ability to reach such a wide audience and it's star power, the attention it drew to the issue of battered women could be considered nothing less than a milestone.

Love it

As a 28 year old woman with breast cancer, currently in chemo...this movie really helped me a lot. It gave me the hope and courage I was searching for. What a great movie, I am reading the book now...You will laugh and cry and laugh again. Sarah Chalke does an amazing job showing the emotions you go through when diagnosed and during treatment. Even if you have never had or don't know anyone with cancer this movie is just plain good! And if you do have cancer this movie is a positive guideline for you or know someone with breast cancer this movie will help you understand what your loved one is feeling emotionally and somewhat physically. Please check it out!

it is a must see!

Nice work

I watched this film with the fear that I was going to encounter yet another budget movie thrown together with a loose plot and mediocre acting. Well, needless to say, I was proved wrong on all counts. The background story was built up nicely and the plot laid out for you to see clearly, but then it twists and makes you think, then twists again making you doubt your theories of what is really going on. Liotta, Garber and McHattie were brilliant and worked perfectly together. I wouldn't mind seeing this trio working together in the future. Dustin Milligan was a surprisingly competent and believable actor which was a breath of fresh air as I don't recall ever seeing him in film before now. All in all a very good thriller/suspense that kept me entertained. Give it a watch is all I can say, hope this helps!

Love thy neighbor

Warning: Spoilers
If you're a woman, if you like Lifetime movies, if you're a fan of Alexandra Paul, then you should enjoy this. It is more of mind thriller than a chase "I'm being stalked by someone" movie. I liked the exchanges between the two feuding neighbors and wonder if they needed to keep the whole robbery story going throughout. I guess it added some doubt and some twists, but I think the movie still would've played fine without it. Also, they never explained who EXACTLY killed the cat. Was it Janis or was it the coyotes? Also, was Janis dead in the end as she was put into the ambulance? I wasn't quite sure. All in and all, the movie delivers what it sets out to.

Warning: Spoilers
This always is a great film, a great story about love, friendship, and most importantly being free. Anyone who watches this and then doesn't want to go out on a cross country road trip is crazy. Great interaction between the two leads and great performances. And most importantly, the ending makes the film as they sail off the edge of the cliff, and "escape the man." A lot of people saw this a feminist man hating film, but I saw it for what it was, two women trying to leave their mark on the world and the lengths they will go to for their undying friendship. I guess there's no chance of a sequel huh? And what a great cameo from Brad Pitt.
