Sinatra: All or Nothing at All (2015)
Informative, but odd production.
Learned a lot about his life. The producers apparently made a conscious effort not to identify the people making the personal comments and narrations. Combined with the fact they had voice actors playing the parts of famous actors, it was anyone's guess who was talking. It could have been presented in half the time and still be worthwhile.
NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service: The Arizona (2020)
Perfect Ending
Great show to end the season
One ? Why isn't the Admirals wife listed in the cast? Seen her before but just can't remember where?
Forgotten Tragedy: The Story of the St. Francis Dam (2018)
Informative, but with the mentioned caveats
I had never heard of this disaster. Surprising, since we just made a trip to LA and took a guided tour of the very area where this occurred. Technical flaws aside, it is well worth the time to watch and learn about an event that help forge greater safety in dam building. Sadly, people drive by daily and have no idea what those chucks of concrete are or anything of this sad story. I appreciate the dedication of the filmmakers in trying to educate and to honor the victims of this disaster.
The Christmas Chronicles (2018)
Amazing special effects and cute story
Now we know how Santa gets all those toys in one red sack. Great, imaginative movie. Russel is quite good and, if you suspend disbelief, it's a great hour and 40 minutes. Family fare, as well.
Rocky Balboa (2006)
Wraps It Up
We had planned on seeing Casino Royale, but the theater dropped the movie that night, so we decided to give Rocky a try. We're glad we did. It is a satisfying wrap up to the Balboa series. Rocky scores in more than just the ring in this edition. There's the requisite love interest, his relationship with his son is well done and, of course, the fight scene is the usual rock 'n sock 'em that no human being could withstand. But, hey, this is the movies, this is ROCKY and you believe this could happen! Hearing the Bill Conti score build throughout the movie is a great Blast From The Past, as well. The audience cheered when it built to its familiar crescendo. So suspend disbelief, again, and watch for the fun of it. Stallone is in great shape for a guy 60+ and you almost believe he could step into the ring...almost.
