Can't believe so many people like this tripe!
30 July 2006
Warning: Spoilers
This is a poor, poor movie. Full of clichés, unrealistic moments: punching the air in celebration after putting a fire out, never mind that someone's lost their home and possessions!!, announcing a pregnancy in a bar along with all your mates before telling you in private first, walking on the roof of a burning building for no apparent reason, the stereotypical funerals and strained relationships, the very dodgy, cheesy music at the end, the unrealistic treatment of the girl who was rescued from her apartment, the very unrealistic explosion from that same apartment!! Did they have a couple of oxygen tanks in the attic or something!!? Anyone with an ounce of wit can see that this movie was a joke. It's a pity, because firefighters do an awesome job, and they deserve to have a good movie made about what they do, but not at the expense of common sense.

Disappointing

Warning: Spoilers
Being a fan of Michael Connelly (i'm working my way through his books) I was really looking forward to seeing this movie, especially i'd just finished reading the novel. As others have said, the first half stuck pretty much to what was in the book but there were a lot of unnecessary changes made, biggest and worst of all was changing the role of the killer. For those who haven't read the book, the killer, Buddy No one should have been the computer guy who witnessed the Cordell murder at the ATM, the boat bum should've been a good guy!) The other big disappointment was the total lack of atmosphere in this movie, mainly due to the fact that there was a virtually non existent score! The editing was quite poor too, sometimes making the film seemingly drag along, especially in the action scenes.

Altogether a generally poor effort. It's hard to believe this came from the same director as Unforgiven and Million Dollar Baby.

Catwoman (2004)

Dumb idea in the first place!

Anyone who gave this film MORE than 2 stars needs their head examined, and those who did give it 2 stars should be carefully watched! This film sucked! I mean, it defies belief that the thing got made in the first place. The story was pants, the effects were rubbish and the whole thing was just pointless. This is the worst film i've seen since feardotcom which was really bad! Catwoman is such a weak character on her own and only really has any meaning or relevance when she is in the Batman world. That's where she should've stayed because ultimately that's where the film began to crumble, right at the concept stage! The decision to seemingly sever all links with Batman was a monumental mistake by the producers of this movie, and gave it no foundation whatsoever. A very poor film born of a very poor idea...

Watch this as soon as possible. IT. IS. AMAZING.

One word for this movie: AWESOME! I haven't enjoyed a movie so much in a very long time. The fight scenes (especially the ones in the fight club) just blew me away. What made it even more impressive was the absence of any wire work (i think there might have been one stunt that was wire, but i may be mistaken)...anyway 99.9% of it was the guy doing everything himself, and you just wonder what kind of dedication goes into being that good! I hope there are more movies of this jaw dropping quality out there for me to discover. I also hope Tony Jaa becomes a massive star and shows us more of what he can do. The fact that this was his first major role only raises the excitement for the future, because hopefully his movies will only get better! Now that's something to seriously look forward to!
