😌
3 December 2023
I was bored of watching horror films and stumbled across this film while looking for another film.

It's a complex film which brings out the topic of cyber sexual relations and its impact on real-life relations. At one instance, the protagonist talks about how a person's body and real life is not the only thing they leave behind but they also leave behind a cyber identity. The story intriguingly weaves together the topic of catfishing, love, jealousy, abandonment, acceptance of age in a way which seems like a normal day-to-day thing.

I never expected this film to be the way it turned out to be. For me, this film gave me a lot to think about. I won't reveal anything else about the story but it's a good watch. 😌

A dialogue of this film which I really loved,

Love Again (I) (2023)

This film should be declared illegal. How dare they talk about love like this ?

The whirlwind of emotions which the characters go through and the simple little actions makes them and it(love) more real. This film actually brings out the part of myself which has been lost or to say it has been subdued due to reasons which sound more as an excuse. In simple words, Priyanka Chopra and Sam Heughan has given life to their characters which makes the film more interesting. The plot might not interest the younger generation, but it sure will to us 'romantics' who still believe in old school love. Don't ask me to explain the previous line because it's tough (just don't). I have a lot say about this film which I wish I could get a chance to share with everybody.

You're going on a Hell of a Ride.

This film tries its best to stand out from other films of the horror genre. It is successful in doing that but at the cost of its story.

The lead actor does come across as a genuine character. This film dives into a struggling actor's psyche and life beautifully. Supporting casts live up to their roles. But the story is where it falls short.

The film does have an air of eerieness which it maintains throughout the first half. It doesn't justify the use of preconceived notions of demonology. The director fails to create a good amount of tension between the certain characters. Second half of the film does involve chaos but it's too late to have the desired effect.

Several scenes did have good acting written all over it. Few unwanted scenes could've been edited out. The director does create scenes where tension works beautifully but lets go off it just before it hits the right spot. A half-baked story which had a lot of potential. It just fails to bind together the characters' story together into one story. For a moment, the film seemed to be on the right track, but an adrupt ending spoils the entire mood. Had the character been explored after the twist, it would have formed a perfect circle and justified the character's actions.

I will recommend this film to people who are interested in watching a film just for the sake of it/or for passing time.

'Good editing saves a film which has great potential.'

Warning: Spoilers
A film with some good editing. This film keeps the viewers "on their sleeves". It doesn't fail to create a tension in the story.

Generally, films like this often tend to create an air of mystery which it does. But it fails to work on its setting. The setting could've been explored more for the story. Some characters seemed that they were written halfheartedly. The director explored different emotions by portraying it minimalistically just for the sake of it.

The film would have been better if it gave attention to the backstory of all the participants of the experiment, instead of just focusing on one. I understand that it is tough to create characters that resonate with this genre and with the audience properly, but couple of characters could have been a bit more real.

The beginning didn't catch my attention but the rest of the film did. There are scenes which can be referred to as being good only because of the editing. The editing helped the loose script to hold the film together. On some instances, the acting was really good which worked for the film. The only major drawback was the lack of the backstory of the Doctor which I feel could've added to the tension in the film.

The ending was not at all expected as the film had me invested in the ghost angle which again was 'half-baked'. But it works well for a film with less budget.

Not your regular horror film !!
14 September 2022
I feel that I haven't just watched this film, I've actually experienced it. The story was a bit different from the horror films that I usually watch. So it was tough to get along with it at the beginning.

Sometimes the camera movements and the constant background noise made it difficult to understand what the the characters were saying. The dialogues weren't that audible with regards to being at par with the pace of the film. I had to put on subtitles during chaotic scenes to understand certain conversations.

Don't get me started on Annie Hardy. Basically, I went from hating Annie to liking her character. I liked this one.

(Thanks to Emma as I got to know about this film from 'spookyastronauts' YouTube channel.✨)

A short film concept.
14 September 2022
The film gave me hope with its beginning. But was a let down by the time it ended. Justin Long really uplifts this film with his acting but the lack of chemistry amongst the other actors, and zero depth in the script made it impossible to like this film.

There were moments like some conversations between the characters which reflected a proper writing but it fell off in the rest of the film. Couple of jumpscares does the job well but that's it. For a moment it does take an interesting turn but then just leaves that part hanging which could have made this film a bit more interesting.

The ending seemed forced. It would've worked if it was a short film.
