Alex Edelman: Just for Us (2024)
SO HYSTERICAL AND POIGNANT
Hands down the funniest comedy special I've seen in a really long time. SO GOOD!!!! I was laughing nonstop and was laughing so hard I was crying. And I watch a lot of comedy.
Kudos to Alex Edelman for being so honest and so brave not only in his comedy but as a human. We should all take notes.
I am telling all my friends to watch this and those that have already on my recommendation, all said "THIS IS SO GOOD!"
I look forward to his next project!
I missed seeing this live in the theatre and was bummed over that so I'm elated that I was able to see it on TV as this is truly incredibly funny stand up.
The Day After Tomorrow (2004)
I love this movie
Not sure why it has such a low rating. It's incredibly entertaining and, let's be honest at this point, it's more like a documentary. I'm a big fan of apocalyptic dystopian movies and I've watched it at least 20 times by now. The graphics and imagery of the extreme weather are pretty great and the movie on the whole I would consider a horror movie.
There's just something about it, in its horror, that's comforting. People turned to comedies during the pandemic, and I turned to movies like this. Calms me down.
If you haven't seen it yet, give it a whirl. I think a lot of you will be pleasantly surprised!
Arnold (2023)
I love Arnold
I've always been a fan of Arnold. And being raised by Europeans myself, I get it. The nuances of his upbringing. He's always made me laugh over the decades and I admire his tenacity. This is a pretty good doc basically told by him as a story and it works.
The Terminator is hands down one of my favorite movies of all time. And I grew up quoting Arnold from that and Kindergarten Cop "it's not a tumor" to this day. As do so many.
I'd love to work with him someday. Terminator the Last Batch? Instead of "Twins", "Siblings"?
He's an inspiration who shows what hard work can achieve.
I highly recommend this doc.
Station Eleven (2021)
Station Eleven show is even better than the book
And I've read the book 3 times because I love it so much. Atmospheric, poignant, and beyond timely. If only The Passage tv show could've followed suit.....perhaps HBO can try their hand at it! Would love to see another apocalyptic dystopian story done right. Also looking forward to Leave The World Behind.
The Vigil (2019)
VERY GOOD PSYCHOLOGICAL HORROR MOVIE
The Vigil is VERY GOOD. Not sure why people are writing such low reviews.
The Mothman Prophecies (2002)
Gets under your skin and never lets go
I've seen this movie easily 23 times and it never gets old. One of the scariest movies I've ever seen. Intelligent, engaging, and super creepy. It astounds me that critics gave it such a low score.
