Chuck (2007)
Revisiting the series to see if it holds up to the test of time.
I watched this show when it first aired. I enjoyed it at that time for a variety of reasons, including likable characters, witty dialogue, humor and action. Now I am rewatching the series to see if it stands up to the test of time. After watching the first 5 episodes of season 1, I am glad I chose to watch it again. In fact, it has exceeded my expectations greatly in several ways.
First of all, I still love the characters and storylines. Secondly, the music is great, and clearly someone associated with the show is a huge Spoon fan, as am I, because there are bits of Spoon songs in several early episodes and longer clips in later episodes, as I recall.
Secondly, there are so many cool pop culture references, that I completely missed the first time through. Dune, Firefly, Big trouble In Little China, Blade Runner, some obvious and some a bit harder to spot.
Thirdly, seeing the ancient/vintage tech, which was cutting-edge at the time it first aired is a hoot.
Finally, the show has heart and humor and is just good old fashioned fun.
Justified (2010)
These are a few of my favorite things
Elmore Leonard, Raylan Givens, Dave Alvin, Shiner Beer, Amy Smart, Natalie Zea... You'll never leave Harlan Alive...
Never a dull or humorless moment, amazing cast and remained fresh and entertaining to the last drop.
Cowboy Bebop (2021)
Very much like the original
Watched the first part on first episode of Cowboy Bebop. They are staying true to the source material. Don't know if that's good yet. Was hoping for a more Blade Runner feel. Reminds he more of the 60's Batman treatment. Live action masquerading as a comic. Not sure yet though. Giving it a 7 for effort.
You're the Worst (2014)
Stuck the landing!
Was not sure this show had not run it's course and expected the final season to be weak. Man, was I wrong. The series finale was perfect.
Lost in Space (2018)
SciFi fans are brutal
Not as bad as these reviews suggest. Yes, the writing needs more punch, More edge. The overall concept is good re: Dr Smith and The Robot. The actors are good. If they improve the storyline, it can be great. Things like the "expansion module" having to strike a rock to sense it are incongruous.
