Scream (2022)
Why was this made?
I'm being generous with a 4 rating for this. I'm a big fan of the first 4, even #3 which is better than its given credit for, but this one made #3 look like a classic. How it had good reviews is beyond me, To put it bluntly as much as this movie tries to show (and literally tell in the plot) its not a cash grab rehash....it is. Its 100% pointless, forced, rushed, and to top it all of they killed Dewey! I get the reason they did it, but it didn't land...at all. Dewey's death seemed so forced.
They ended things pretty well with Scream 4 and it should have ended with Wes's death except for a complete remake/reboot. Scream 4 felt at times like it was unnecessary, but it never felt pointless, forced, or rushed. I like the new characters in it. I However, did not care about 1 new character in this.....not one. I liked every villion of the first 4 better than every character in this. I am usually not a harsh critic, but this was bad. Only reason I give it a 5 is because its good quality and the return of Skeet Ulrich was nice cameo even though it again added to this being forced. The plot seemed like a fan film. I'm gunna pretend this one never happened and Dewey is still kicking.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022)
Stupid
I remember watching Hitcher 2 and seeing C. Thomas Howell return after being the main survivor of the 1st all those years earlier just to be killed early on to "shock the audience". They did the same thing here with the survivor of the original. They way they used her was so dumb. She's a Texas Ranger and they made her look like a badass who will hunt Leatherface Laurie Strode style only to turn her into a complete idiot. They gave her a "lets bring her back to kill here and shock the audience" thing. It was Dumb in Hitcher 2 and even dumber now. Visually the film looked great, good looking kills, dumb story and terrible use of the original survivor character.
The Long Riders (1980)
Best Jesse James film ever!!
This movie really captures the way the James/Younger Gang really was. The acting brothers was brilliant in my mind and will probably never be seen again. All actors are great in the film. Stacy Keach is a very underrated actor. However, David Carradine steals the show as Cole Younger and Keith is quite good himself. It is quite accurate and all characters are very realistic. The atmosphere is great and the film really captures what the James/Younger Gang had to go through. The North Field Raid is probably one of the best western movie shootouts if not the best shootout scene of all time. I am very interested to see The Assination of Jesse James...and see if it is up to par with The Long Riders.
Frank & Jesse (1994)
Really Good Western Portrayal of Jesse and Frank James
This was the second Jesse James film I ever saw. I first saw American Outlaws and realized that it wasn't very accurate. This is not a great film like Dances With Wolves or Tombstone, but is very good in my book. It shows a lot about what the former confederates had to go through after the war. The movie really shows the darker side of Jesse James and how passionate he was about what he did. Rob Lowe, Bill Paxton, and Randy Travis are great. But why do they have to change things like Bob Younger being a mute, their first bank robbery being in 1869 when it was in 1866, the fact that Jesse was shot once in the head and the second shot missed, and Bob Younger being shot by his brother Cole when he was actually captured with Cole after the North Field Raid. I believe that these things could have been changed and made a even better movie. Besides some other little things this is a fine historical movie and one of my personal favorites. If you like it see The Long Riders.
