Frasier: Freddy's Birthday (2023)
More Lilith!
This episode featured the return of Lilith. The insults and bantering between Fraser and Lilith was hilarious and I found myself rooting for more barbs and sarcastic comebacks from each of them. By the end of the episode, they both recognized their sexual attraction for one another and I found myself rooting for them to get back together. The fact that they can be just as compelling as arch-enemies as they are lovers, demonstrates the amazing chemistry between Kelsey Grammer and Bebe Neuworth. I don't know if I prefer Frasier and Lilith as bickering exes, or if I prefer them as a couple, but I am absolutely certain that I want to see more of Lilith in upcoming episodes. I would love for her to become a series regular, but at the very least, I hope she becomes a regular returning character.
Dead to Me: We've Reached the End (2022)
Same old cliche
Two women meet and become best friends. The bonds of the friendship are tested when one of the friends develops a terminal illness. The dying friend spends the last days of her life in her favorite place with her best friend. The surviving friend has to figure out how to adjust to a new life without her best friend, while finding ways to keep her memory alive. Sound familiar? It should. It's the plot of Beaches, Fried Green Tomatoes, and countless other best friend dramas.
Up until season 3, this show managed to established a series that was different from the typical best friend drama. When Judy received the cancer diagnosis, I was really hoping this show wouldn't go in that direction. I held out hope until we got to the last episode when I realized that this show chose to follow the same old cliche. If you've seen Beaches, you've seen season 3 of Dead to Me.
Haunted (2018)
"True story" aspect is distracting
What made this series so poor was that it is advertised as supposedly true stories based on interviews from the victims. Perhaps the "true story" aspect was intended to make it seem scarier, but in reality, it was a distraction. First of all, as other reviewers are saying, there was no evidence to back up any of these accounts. Second, the stories were so over the top that it was highly unlikely they were true. If they would have left out the true aspect, cut out the interviews, and just made this a scary anthology series of ghost stories, it could be pretty good.
