Rainn Wilson and the Geography of Bliss (2023)
The first four episodes are awesome
I have to agree with the previous reviewer who said that episode five ruined the show for him. It just was so different from the previous episodes. I ended up fast forwarding through most of it. The only segment I enjoyed was the one with Ari Meyers. Having lived in Los Angeles for 14 years I guess I just don't see how it could be a blissful place to live. It made me unhappy. But the first four episodes are definitely worth watching. It was interesting watching all the different countries and people he met. I enjoyed their stories. I guess I relate to Rain because I too find it hard to be happy so I enjoyed seeing what makes people happy.
All in the Family: The Threat (1972)
I have a different take on the episode
I disagree with the description that says Archie thought that Bobbi Jo had made a pass at him. Archie never believed that. He was just embarassed that he got caught lusting after Bobbi Jo by Mike and Gloria so he decided to make Bobbi Jo the villain by saying she had made a pass at him. He even admitted after that he was mistaken about the supposed pass. I also disagree with another review that says Mike was lusting after Bobbi Jo. He was never openly gawking at her. He even told Gloria that yes he had noticed her but he could handle it where as Archie didn't know how to deal with it so he was acting like a teenager around her. Even going so far as to help Edith serve the dinner which Edith said he had never done before. I felt really sorry for Bobbi Jo and obviously Archie and Duke's friendship was going to be over once Bobbi Jo told him what Archie had done.
Delta (1992)
Not a good fit for Delta Burke
I like Delta Burke but this series was just not a good fit for her. Delta Burke Cannot sing well. So to have a series where she's trying to make it big in Nashville as a singer was just not working. They tried several things to make the ratings go up. I guess they thought people weren't watching because Delta Burke was blonde so they had her color her hair back to black. Then they changed the emphasis on the series by having Delta Bishop decide she was going to be a songwriter in Nashville rather than a singer. But unfortunately the changes came too late and only true fans were still watching.
Shrill: Move (2021)
It was a good ending although not happily ever after....
At least at that point. I actually think Will did Annie a favor. If he couldn't bring himself to ever divorce his wife and move on it would have just been heartache down the line. I totally didn't understand why Will got so angry at Annie for going to see his wife. Annie didn't do anything rude to her. He claimed they hadn't talked for four months but said he freaked out after seeing she was calling him. Was it because he thought she wanted to get back together with him? I think Will hadn't moved on because they should have already filed for divorce at least. So I think there would have been heartbreak for Annie later on. As far as Fran - I don't think she was ready to start a real relationship. I think her girlfriend was right that until she and Annie stopped living life like they were still in college they wouldn't grow up.
Shrill: Ranchers (2021)
Both Annie and Nick were at fault
I totally understand why Annie felt humiliated after believing for weeks that Nick was romantically interested in her. I think Nick had to be totally clueless to not have seen that Annie was interested in dating him. Why did he invite her over to his place at 1a.m.? That would seem like a booty call to most people. If he wasn't interested in her then he should have made that more clear at the beginning. But I also think Annie was at fault. Why didn't see ask him early on what he felt about her. If she had asked him at the beginning of their get togethers they may have been able to remain friends. But by the time Annie found out it was too late to be friends. So I don't think either of them took responsibility for what happened. Nick acted like Annie just read things into their get togethers that weren't there and Annie took no responsibility for having this imagined relationship with Nick without ever asking him how he felt about her. Annie also just overreacted when Nick told her he wasn't interested in dating her because she was so angry. Even later in another episode he texted her and asked if she was still mad at him. Her reply was F you, you sick F. Now you think after she had calmed down she wouldn't have responded like that. Certainly she should have just blocked his number and not replied back.
Shrill: Will (2021)
Annie and Amadi were totally unlikeable in this episode.
Amadi sets her up on a blind date. Which actually in this day and age of smart phones and computers sounds totally odd. Anyway, the second Annie sees Will she's immediately offended and angry at Amadi because she felt he matched them up simply because they were both fat, but she takes out her anger on Will by being totally rude and dismissive. I totally felt sorry for the guy. Then in the next episode she apologizes to Amadi for getting mad at him when she should have apologized to Will. Amadi is such a lousy friend he doesn't even apologize to Will for setting him up on that disastrous date. Amadi denied he set them up because they were both fat but why did he set them up? They didn't seem like they had much in common.
Better Things: Rising (2017)
I quit watching this series after this episode
Not sure why people thought this was a great episode but I thought she treated that date just terribly and instead they portrayed her as some kind of hero. The guy did nothing to her. I was done with the show after seeing that.
Catastrophe (2015)
Unlikeable couple
I'm not sure why this show has such rave reviews. I watched up to the second episode of season two. After that episode I could no longer watch the show when I couldn't stand either Rob or Sharon. People have written that Sharon is the shrew and Rob is a great guy. But in S2E2 Rob really showed how unlikeable he was. Sharon was trying to force a friendship on that poor woman who really didn't even know her that well. So Rob decided to go and tell the woman and her husband off and then tell the end of the movie to everyone standing around. What an obnoxious jerk especially considering he knew how horrible Sharon could be at times. Then to show obnoxious Sharon is she holds his hand. She was so proud of him insulting this poor woman she had been stalking. I also couldn't stand Rob when he was openly lusting after his co-worker and then when she comes on to him he runs to his boss and says he quits because he can't work in that environment. Idiot. I don't care how wonderful people think it is I was just done and deleted it off my watch list.
Thriller: A Wig for Miss Devore (1962)
One of my favorites
Very entertaining episode about an actress who gets a wig created by a witch in order to stay young. When the actress puts it on it makes her look younger but also changes her personality and she becomes a murderer. My only complaint about the episode is the casting of Patricia Barry. While she was quite beautiful and is a good actress, at 39 years old she wasn't young enough since the witch she was playing in the movie was 25 years old. I also didn't feel there was enough of a drastic difference between how she looked before she put the wig on and after. In the episode everyone was shocked at how young and beautiful she looked after wearing the wig but she still looked beautiful before she put on the wig. I think they would have been better off with an actress in her 20s and aged her to look like late 30s pre-wig wearing. At the end when Sheila's maid puts on the wig she looked very different from the way she looked before. The show needed that same kind of drastic transformation with Sheila. Regardless it really is one of my favorite episodes with a very shocking ending.
Mr. Iglesias (2019)
Watch the show - ignore all the negative reviews
It's like all the right wing trump supporters had to complain about how political the show was. It has it over the top political moments (especially with the character of Marisol) but overall the actors are good and the kids aren't too irritating and I like the teachers. I didn't find the laugh track that irritating. I don't understand all the complaints.
Nancy Drew (2019)
All these negative reviews are ridiculous!
It seems most reviewers have only watched the first episode so how they can immediately claim the show is not worth watching? Plus a lot of the complaints are that it doesn't follow the original books. There's also complaints about changing the ethnicity of the characters. But come on this is a show on The CW. Haven't any of you seen Riverdale? It's nothing like the comics. They also changed the ethnicity of several characters. So I don't know why people were expecting something sweet and wholesome. This is just like reviews for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Everyone upset because it's different from the original. So I say ignore all the negative reviews and give the show a chance.
Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators (2018)
Wonderful series
Great characters and the actors who play them. It's a very funny mystery/comedy. I'm in the United States so I can't wait for season two to be released on dvd.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2018)
This doesn't deserve all the negative reviews
I've come to the conclusion that this series has gotten so many negative reviews because it offends certain Christians who don't like the satanic aspect of it. Reviewers also didn't like Sabrina and her friends being feminists and that it includes a non-binary character.
So to new viewers who are reading all the negative reviews.....just ignore them and form your own opinion.
I think the series is well done and the actors top notch. I can't wait for season three.
Mama's Family: Dependence Day (1989)
Thelma vs Iola
While I thought this episode was very funny I just couldn't understand why the family was so irritated with Iola. Iola was cleaning, cooking delicious meals and doing the dishes. I'd take a few of Iola's quirks if I didn't have to do all those chores.
