I completely skipped the first season after watching the 1st episode and I'm glad I picked it up on the 2nd season. This episode had it all. Hardcore fans need to stop watching this show instead of just saying they will after every episode. Was there reason to be angry after the 1st season? Most likely. That's why I skipped most of it, but this season has been a complete turnaround. This is the most epic episode of any tv series I have seen all year and I'm glad they are putting resources into improving it. The crazies rating this so low are never going to be satisfied unless the story is followed exactly like the games. I for one have played all the games but can't recall half of the crap they are mad about. Only qualm I have is I would like to see master chief back in his suit but that did not take away from my enjoyment of this particular episode and there was a justification for him not having it.

Non biased review based on the 1st episode

Warning: Spoilers
I'll preface with I quit watching dead after about after either season 8 or 9 (it's hard to remember). I felt it got way too repetitive and had a meandering storyline. If I had to rewatch I'd stop at the arrival of Alexandria. Also watched fear the walking dead until the rebooted the cast. So I can safely say I'm not a fan but have enjoyed the earlier goings of the shows. I will say I thought the premier was very good. It felt fresh in its writing and cinematography. The locational shots were great and the action/violence was very well choreographed. It did not feel cheesy and conversations flowed naturally. I'll like the idea of a point a to b child transport story line as it reminds me of the movie The Road. I'm excited to watch more, just hope it doesn't fall off a cliff but it feels like it's in competent hands and has a direction it wants to take.

Not as bad as expected

Was skeptical but I can safely say this is better than the kingdom of the crystal skulls. He is an old man and it rides the fine line showing him being that while also being capable. There is a few moments that I wish they hadn't of done but it did not ruin the movie for me. The set pieces are nice and how it switches from action set to action set reminded me of how they did it in the last crusade. It felt like an actual archeological adventure movie while the last movie didn't. Is it better than the originals? No, but the fact that they didn't make Helena a likeable character helped me digest it better because I was able to root for Indy the whole film.

Gave it a chance, it's not good
24 August 2023
I defended the show when the first few episodes came out saying that you have to give it a chance and that it wasn't terrible. I was wrong. It is a 6/10 average at best but I have it a 5/10 considering it was a revival of a very good show. I stand firm in believing this show jumped the shark when they couldn't get the original lead writer from the original show on board (he was busy writing the excellent show Silo on Apple TV). The show feels empty. His daughter can not act at all and should consider going to college and getting a job not acting. Raylan is not the same sharp talking and better shooting guy he is in the original. Disappointed overall. I hate that I can't get excited for revival series anymore.

Great... until the end.

Warning: Spoilers
This movie definitely has a lot going for it. It's not the best written and definitely uses tropes/ jump scares to get the horror across. It's just so well done and chilled me to the bones everytime that I didn't mind it. The ending felt to me like an It Follows clone and I was able to guess the ending sequence before it ever happened. These bleak endings in horror films are getting used to death and for me it takes away from the enjoyment so I had to knock it a few points. I don't think it needs to be a happy ending, I would just appreciate it if the writers would put more effort into realizing that we've seen this ending a million and one times. Otherwise it was a great horror film.

Points for Ewan only

The action is not good. Both episodes I felt like all I was watching was a 10 year old girl running slowly and grown men running even slower to catch her. Also the Third Sister actress overacts every time she talks. You can definitely tell she is from Baltimore and not a galaxy far far away.

I'm starting to believe the Wachowskis stole the script to the first Matrix

Agent smith says things like OMG and robot sentinels give fist bumps now. Though failing to capture the magic of the first movie, I could appreciate the other sequels for trying to expand the universe and keeping the same tone. This one purposely makes a mockery of itself and calls it self awareness. I'll stick with watching the first one only for now on.
