The Bubble (2022)
Unfair reviews
What's with all these harsh reviews....
It's a meta comedy all in good fun, and I genuinely had quite a few chuckles ( I'd go as far as to say laughs that were out loud).
The man who played the safety officer completely stole the show for me. Hilarious.
I upped my rating to 9, to counter the way this movie has been unfairly dragged.
Kate (2021)
4 Stars goes to Tokyo
Japan really is the heavy-lifter here, the only thing that kept me watching until the end. Beyond this, what a mess. Starts off fairly intriguing but descends at about halfway with no redemption.
One of those movies where I was mad at myself for watching the whole thing.
Vacation Friends (2021)
A fun time was had by all! (me)
I went in with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised with how much I really enjoyed this. Credit where credit is due, when I turned off I genuinely thought - well that was fun. And sometimes that's all you need..
Beckett (2021)
The main character is beyond unlikeable
His general hopelessness and stumbling around was not endearing nor 'real', he just made it almost unwatchable.
This movie deserves no more than 3 stars. And my 2 were for the traipsing through the humble streets and outdoors.
False Positive (2021)
Deserves higher credit
The people here giving such negative views are clearly ignorant of what the movie represents. Are yall men here?
It's mirroring women's choices/rights being taken away with no control. Its clever and doesn't lull.
I appreciated it for what it was (Ilana Glazer is truly a force)
Ok yeh that end scene.... but that's why it's in the Horror genre right.
Infinite (2021)
1h 46mins I'll never get back
To rate this any higher than a 1 is a very generous move.
Look, I love Mark but this was an absolute fail. I'm actually mad I even watched the whole thing...
The Education of Fredrick Fitzell (2020)
Anybody else not understand this at all?
Just me? Please explain, I just waited 97 minutes of my life. The 2 stars is for Dylans acting..
Cruella (2021)
Brilliant original & aesthetically pleasing
Combine a great (and original) storyline with a London in the 70's backdrop, music and fashion, alongside the brilliance of the two Emma's = 10 out of 10 addition the disney live action world.
Four Good Days (2020)
Beautifully portrayed
The reviews here and way harsh. I found this understatedly powerful, heartful and true. It really hits home, with some prime acting from the two and beautifully shot.
The Father (2020)
Break my heart
Trigger warning for anyone who cant handle seeing old men break down.. like me. I really needed that warning. Sobbing, this really broke me. Dementia through the lens of the sufferer. This movie nailed what it must feel like on both ends of the spectrum. Anyway I'm going to call my dad now.
Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar (2021)
Lighthearted Fun
Great cast, actual laugh out loud funny, super endearing. What can I say, I enjoyed myself.
Our Friend (2019)
Beautiful and heartbreaking
Based on a true story, this one will stay with you long after. Emotional yet uplifting, I definitely shed a tear or two.
A must watch!
Malcolm & Marie (2021)
A+ acting for a D grade plot line
Within half an hour of watching them fight I was officially done.... but I stuck around because Zendaya. Which I imagine is the only drawcard for this film.
If you enjoy watching couples fight wittingly and passionately - then this is the film for you. If not, hard pass.
On the Rocks (2020)
Would have made a wonderful short
Whilst I did enjoy this film for the most part, I feel like it didn't quite have the substance to hold the weight of a 90 minute movie. It would have made for a great short. All in all it was a nice watch, but not something that will stay with me past the rolling credits.
Rashida Jones is flawless as usual, so raw, real and she always has a way of breaking straight into you. I will always be here for anything she's in.
Oh and Jenny Slate adds such value with her few scenes alone.
The Trial of the Chicago 7 (2020)
Aaron Sorkin always delivers
Timely and relevant, it really captures your immediate attention from the first scene. I love a well paced movie from the get go and this is another great effort from Aaron Sorkin. I wasn't expecting to be as engrossed as I was in this.
A true piece of history that really gives you something to take away.
I can guarantee you wont hate on a judge in a movie more than you will on this one. Shame he is based on a real life man..
Clouds (2020)
Heart warming, tear jerking
What a beautiful effort directed by Justin Baldoni, based on the real life of a young teenager taken to soon. It's wholesome and uplifting despite being an ultimately tragic story. You know when reading the synopsis - a teenager with cancer, theres bound to be pulls on the heart strings. And this delivers.
I had fear it would go down the same old path we've seen before, but this is done so well and you cant beat things inspired by true stories.
I was pleasantly surprised. Disney always winning my heart ...even into my thirties...
Save Yourselves! (2020)
Sci Fi or the conclusion to 2020?
This was a great little watch. If you go into it not expecting much then you would be pleasantly surprised.
Yes the second half doesn't really align with where the story was initially going, but hey this is 2020 and that ending felt only fitting...
Hubie Halloween (2020)
Classic Sandler
I mean, it is what it is.
And what it is, is light and fun with a few chuckles. A solid 6.
I may have rated it higher if Sandler toned that voice down a bit, at some points I could barely understand the dialogue.
