Bushwick (2017)
This movie is on fire.
You know, It's not going to be a Shakespearean experience when in the first few minutes of the movie, someone runs down two levels of stairs into a subway station while he is completely engulfed in flames and then proceeds to continue running through the station.
The only person I know who could do that is Richard Pryor (my fav comedian) who in a drug-induced psychosis had poured rum over his body and set himself on fire.
Richard often joked about this experience, famously once lighting a match stick in front of his audience and waving it as he said: "What's this? It's Richard Pryor running down the street."
Rest in peace Richard and hopefully this movie will too.
Moonfall (2022)
Well, at least it give an excuse to have popcorn!
The only thing missing from this movie was Lassie barking to tell us that Timmy had fallen down the well. Bad dog . . . Oops, bad movie. It's the golden age for actors getting paid tp mail it in.
The Strangers: Prey at Night (2018)
Mark Zetterberg would band these kids from Facebook for what they did in the movie.
The biggest problem I have with this movie is the creators behind it are asking me to have an enormous suspension of disbelief that the following is possible. Two teenagers leave the cabin and neither of them bring their cell phones with them.
How could that ever happen? I have never seen a teenager in my life not put their phone in their pocket when not in use. But I have seen teens sitting next to each other on a bus texting each other. They also sleep with it under their pillows. I have to say, leaving their cell phones behind is the only thing new the flic brings to the slasher genre. The horror of two teens not having access to their social media world is pretty scary.
The Expendables 3 (2014)
Antonio Banderas, kills.
Antonio Banderas is the best comic relief character in the entire series. If you don't laugh at his amazing performance, I guess you're expendable.
40 Sticks (2020)
A solid thriller that keep me guessing!
I live in Montreal Canada and I like to try independent movies from different countries. I like to look beyond Hollywood and other Western films which I admit I do enjoy as well. I have to say this movie keep my interest.
The acting was decent, good to very good, depending on the actor. The characters they played were all different and I found the mix to be interesting. I really enjoyed the gang members, especially Mustafa and Biggie (Biggie's eyes in the movie alone were a real treat. He reminded me of Marty Feldman but with a more sinister look. That alone was a treat lol.
Overall you can just run with this movie and have fun. The script had a few small weak moments but nothing that threw me out of the movie. I loved the ending and didn't see it coming so that surprise was a big plus.
Great effort and it's nice to see Kenya producing a quality production. Congratulations to everyone involved in the making of this film! You can be proud of your effort. Thank you because as I was entertained.
War for the Planet of the Apes (2017)
Apes Bad! Humans Bad! Movie Badder!!!!!!
It started out with some solid action and then became a long slow boring movie. The ending is so ridiculous with the remainder of the American Army fighting each other only to have the winning side whipped out by an avalanche.
