Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire (2023)
All the pretty faces and still a flop
I am very confused by this movie. And also why did this get a sequel is beyond me. The line up with all the pretty faces and sadly in my eyes it's still a flop. Main character actress is really just skin and bone in this movie, it's just bothered me so much, back of my mind said, eat please, every time, hard to imagine what makes these producers think, it's believable. All for females roles, but not in this case. Missing some meat on her, honestly and with some of the massive guns, just plain comic, instead.
I hope it's not just me, but please if you already have to continue this trend of female badass characters, they need to look the part too. At some point I gave up and left the movie running in the background and not paying any attention and listening to the noise. The storyline was hard to follow in my opinion even the graphics and pretty faces didn't keep me motivated enough to sit through the whole movie. Again, why did this deserve a sequel, I really don't understand.
The Swarm (2023)
Not read the book, but oh dear
I don't mind the slow build up as many reviews mention, I don't know the book so I am not influenced by that either. What I do not like is the illogical behavior of some professions that represented as characters...just on the second episode so far..
Some illogical jumps/kinks in the story line, I am okay with the acting and the actors and somewhat okay with the effects.
However the kitchen staffs portraiting was just so disgusting and the fact they made them so dirty and unhygienic after the lobster incident...I would want to go take shower just by watching this scene and not touch anyone's food after than ... Just yuck.
And the scene where the doctors are showing cardiac massage on poor patient with seizure - this act would kill him btw... I mean that bothers me the most such horrid inaccuracy, I get that is is sci-fi but that was just so dumb, it infuriated me that they would spend all this money on series that portraits medical professionals as absolute nonsense and idiots and sadly expecting more of these massive medical errors by end of the series.
The fact they are trying to sound scientific and make mistakes only takes credibility. And OMG so many of these characters should be wearing gloves it's unreal haha I'm not expert if I have noticed these, so should you hehe.
The Shape of Water (2017)
Love Guillermo del Toro's creations but why do I feel this is missing something...
Seen few mixed reviews on this movie, so let me add mine to the lot.
The length of the movie was no problem for me as I was drawn into the color spectrum picked for the whole background of movie. Yet, something very familiar was speaking to me and I was waiting for the moment of surprise or plot twist or just different story line, I guess.
It reminded me couple of other Guillermo del Toro movies... Hellboy and El Laberinto del Fauno.
Can't shake the feeling the creature from this movie should be related to Abe Sapian ;) hence my expectation, maybe. And the villain characteristics very similar to Capitan Vidal and also some of the torture and injuries felt very familiar.
Love the acting and choice of actors, it was not much surprise although Octavia shines like the gem she is as The Help ;). As I mentioned all very familiar through and through the whole movie despite the fact I was watching it the first time. Overall like it but didn't feel like new movie. In my eyes interesting collaboration would be Guillermo and M. Night Shyamalan on their own scarytale.
13 Reasons Why: The Smile at the End of the Dock (2018)
What a disappointment
First season was amazing but what happened to second season no clue, but it contradicts the whole first season.
This episode is maybe my last that I will watch of this very bad attempt to follow the first season. Love the actors picked for this TV show, however the second season has only that and nothing else. Don't want to see the end of it as it is not the original story I was drown to.
Shame, really.
