P2 (2007)
Been there done that!
I don't really know where to begin. I think for me what was the killer mainly was the casting. I am a huge fan of the genre so (not really much that can shock me) i expect the female character to escape 95% of the time but it was so easy i was left yelling at the screen.
Just bad acting across the board not to mention they crashed my Pontiac Sunfire (that did hold weight on the rating lol). But seriously i cannot find anything good to say about this movie. If you really wanna see it make it a rental.
I am glad that i did. If you want a good shocker or two. Go for "Catacombs", go for "Storm Warning" or "Murder set pieces". This one is comical at best and an insult to the genre.
Wolf Creek (2005)
Take Away The Term: "Based On A True Story"
Why? Why did they have to stamp this movie with a B.O.A.T.S? I know that that is where a lot of successful films have been going these past couple of years but it was so unnecessary and even more so detrimental to the film because it left the movie with questions...
This movie had cult classic all over it! There are a lot of quiet and dark spots but I believe that the director was using that to build tension with the film. And it worked! The first 5x but after that it was pretty much dragged like the director was trying to fill the 90min time slot. John Jarret does a good job as the villain here and the movie has a good amount of time for sadism (for those sick Lion Gate fans lol) This is why the film received such a low score.
Spoilers ahead: If this film is Based on a true story; and the sole survivor was the guy who was tied up in the cave for the duration, then how are we able to know what happened to the two girls? How the were killed? etc. It is impossible therefore leaving the main question. Why label this film as such... Still a good watch if your bored. Do not expect greatness! Emiliosparks (Thumbs Down)!
Ultraviolet (2006)
A different perspective
Normally a movie like this would get a low score in my book. Due to the fact that it's damn near all CGI but i thought to myself that it's a Comic-book movie! Not to confuse with a "Saving Private Ryan" or anything like that. Not to expect an Oscar caliber performance. If you take it as a Comic-book movie there is a lot of action and tons of special effects. Make it a bbn (Block Buster Night)... Take it from E. Sparks!
My only complaint is more of a rhetorical question as to where this movie is geared. I am not going to give anything away but there were a lot of instances where if I was a little boy around 7-8yr old. I would just watch the movie and scream COOOOOOLLLL. But I am 24 so it was just cheesy to me. But overall a good movie. If you don't set the bar too high...
16 Blocks (2006)
A movie that just seems to carry you "block by block"!!!
I'm a huge fan of Bruce Willis from his Die hard days to his greatest movie in my eyes "Tears of the sun". So when I saw this on the shelf it was a must have, although at the same token I wasn't expecting much from it. It's one of those movies that you can almost foresee the ending way in the beginning. A lot of predictable scenes and then a lot that were not. As soon as I was going to right this film off and give it like a 2-3 there is a twist. A good twist that will carry you through the duration.
This movie might have gotten a 7 but Mos Def's voice (Don't know why they made him talk like that) was beyond irritating. And for those of you who have seen the movie know what I mean. I am a big movie buff "400 and climbing" and I don't mind this in the collection but for you normal folks lol I would put this in the...

Mission: Impossible III (2006)
Officially a P.S. Hoffman Fan!!!
I went ahead and picked up Capote not to long ago to see why in god's name did P.S. Hoffman picked up the Oscar over "Crash" but I saw why. It wasn't even the movie itself it was just the fact that he was a very believable Truman Capote. So he got the kudos from me. Now mesh that with the fact that I enjoyed both M.I's and all the trailers and a free movie ticket, I thought I'd give it a try. P.S Hoffman is one of if not the BEST BAD GUY I have ever seen in a movie (And I am 24) ever! He was smart, sinister, devious etc. Was able to escape so many times and (Without giving to much away) gives it to the good guys. So to ref. my title again I am now "Officially a P.S. Hoffman fan".
Transporter 2 (2005)
This movie isn't even for Kids...
Listen, I was able to endure the First one. And after all the hype of the commercials and all I decided to buy it. The first time I watched it I fell asleep on it. I thought I was just tired. So I watched it again. The scenes in this movie are so hard to comprehend. That even if this movie was a cartoon I would be pi**ed off by the fact that someone wants to insult my intelligence and have me believe the CGI/Action scenes in this film. Don't get me wrong the concept of some movies are to leave your inhibitions behind and just enjoy. But not your intelligence. I was extremely insulted. But it did make me laugh, because it's not a comedy; that's the funny part about it. It just came out on DVD and I am contemplating throwing it out. If you want a great laugh, I suggest the movie. But if you want a good action movie, good plot. Stray away at all costs! E.Sparks
