A *SOLID* Action Flick
4 March 2021
Wow, I cannot believe all the hate this movie has gotten!

What are some people expecting a movie like this will be?? This is an ACTION movie folks, nothing more, nothing less..

Is MI2 a genre defining action movie?

No. It's a movie that, unlike many action flicks, never pretends to be something that it's not.

I can only speculate that all the hate for this movie comes from die-hard fans of the Misssion Impossible Television series that aired DECADES ago & from people who thought that MI2 would be a continuation of MI1.

IT'S NEITHER.

IT'S NOT A KNOCKOFF OF THE TV SHOW NOR DOES IT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE FIRST MISSION IMPOSSIBLE MOVIE - (Other than it's name & that is stars Tom Cruise).

GET OVER IT & you will enjoy watching it..

If you like car chases, explosions, Bond type evil villans and great acting with a very decent story line that keeps you engaged and never drags or bores you, then watch Mission Impossible II.

A SIDE NOTE:

While on lockdown due to Covid, I have been watching a ton of movies over the past year and one thing that stands out about this one compared to every other action movie that has been made since about 2007/2008, is that, in my opinion, action movies from the year 2000 & early 2000's are of far better quality, have superior production value, better cinematography and are just overall more pleasing to look at, better made and are more interesting to watch.

---- ------ -----

For everyone who rated this movie poorly, GET OVER the fact that MI2 has nothing to do with the decades old TV shor nor the first movie.

Again, MI2 was not meant to be like the MI TV show, nor was it meant to be a continuation of the first movie.

If you are OK with that, go ahead and watch MI2. You will throughly enjoy it and the awesome action scenes that it (realistically) displays.

A SOLID 7.0 / 7.2 **Tom Cruise** Action flick.

SOLID action movie!
18 April 2020
This is the kind of movie you have to really be in the mood for prior to watching. For example, if you've had a long and stressful day at the office and need a relaxing evening with some wine and chocolate to bring you back down to neutral, this is the perfect movie to watch.

On the other hand, if you are at home all day and your mind has been idle, and you're looking for a movie with a lot of depth, drama and mystery, Spenser Confidential will dissapoint you.

It has plenty of funny moments, tons of cool action scenes and an above average plot line. While it's not the most original movie ever made, the acting is very solid (as it always is) by Mark Whalberg and all of the supporting cast does a wonderful job here. Grab a bag of popcorn, don't over analyslze every scene and you'll really enjoy this one.

SOLID 7/10 action flick.

The Gentlemen (2019)
7/10
A reasonably entertaining crime thriller
18 April 2020
For all the reviewers boasting about The Gemtelman being one of Guy Richies "best" movies and the other gloating 9 and 10 star reviews, they are either completely made up or the reviewers haven't seen enough crime and comedy movies.

The acting from the leading characters is not Oscar worthy here, they aren't bad either but just rather ok and average. The plot is moderately intetesting and the story as a whole is intetesting enough as it moves along briskly to keep you watching.

Definately not one of Guy Ritchies best but overall a very decent crime thriller compared to other movies that have come out this year.

7/10 overall.

Joker (I) (2019)
2/10
NOT EVEN CLOSE TO A MASTERPIECE!
16 January 2020
OMG... This movie was seriously BAD!

As someone who watches a lot of movies, I could not understand why so many "reviewers" on here rated this movie so highly, many even calling it a "masterpiece".

Am I glad I did not go see this in the movie theater, as I would have demanded a FULL refund!

I got this on blue ray and was really looking forward to viewing it, cozying up on my couch with a large bowl of popcorn.

I was expecting to see something in the likes of the genre breaking Dark Knight, Inception, or Batman vs Superman. Was I let down...

Here's what's so BAD about Joker...

1. The movie follows a sad clown with serious mental issues, who laughs uncontrollably at inappropriate times (due to a supposed condition). Said clown goes off meds & starts killing people at the slightest provocation. For no reason, whatsoever.

The police have their suspicions but never bother to arrest the clown or even question him formally at the station.

2. There is about as much suspense in this move as there is watching a traffic camera, and there is almost no action or tension, in any scene.

No one goes after the sad clown, aka Joker, for murdering innocent people, there is no enemy/antagonist for the clown to go up against/fight with, but there is a (hardly believable) love interest that no one could fathom a sad and insanely weird clown of this magnitude getting an attravtive member of the opposite sex.

3. And last but not least, the slogging music. The music (which takes over in EVERY scene) is just ridiculously overdone. If you closed your eyes while walking into a room where someone was watching Joker, you would swear a musical is playing on the TV.

Additionally, the music in Joker makes you wonder exactly what kind of emotions the makers of this disaster of a film were trying to incite in viewers.

I felt neither moved, sad, excited or any emotion whatsoever while watching. Not to mention the totally unrelatable central character (Joker) was the biggest reason I felt nothing.

I could list MANY other things that are wrong with this movie, but will leave it at the above 3 as these are what lead this movie into disaster territory..

To Sum It Up...

Do your eyes and ears a favor and skip this one.

If you want to see actual masterpieces and have a taste for cinema (that is seemingly starting to go extinct now days), watch or re-watch Batman Begins, The Dark Knight or V for Vendetta.

2/10. 1 star for cinematography & 1 star for Jaquin Phoenix's acting.

Hotel Mumbai (2018)
8/10
Powerful & Emotional
5 May 2019
Based on true events, Hotel Mumbai is not a polished Holywood flick that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside, not while you're watching it and not after it's over.

The movie has a very gritty and real feel to it. The shooting is filmed in an almost first person view, with the screen shaking in all directions every time guns go off. It kind of makes you feel like you are there, right beside the shooters and helpless victims as the scenes unfold.

Hotel Mumbai does not have a central character or "hero" who saves the day. If you're expecting a shootem up action flick with a central character who kills all of the bad guys with guns blazing, do not watch this movie.

If you can stomach watching innocent people get killed in masse, along with a lot blood spweing everywhere, and you want to see what terror looks like in the first person, go watch this movie.

8.6/10 - One of the best thrillers of 2019.

A Disappointing sequel
13 December 2018
Like other reviewers have noted, Denzel's acting is as good here as it's any of his movies, but that's about the only thing worthy in this anticipated sequel - everything else pretty much a disappointment.

As is typical in Holywood sequels, this movie falls well short of the original. The Equalizer 2 never builds up any real tension within the storyline (which is mostly flat, weak and uninteresting). In many scenes, the dialogue was off and even cringe worthy. The characters showed no real emotions or depth in any of the scenes which made it difficult to give a crap about them and the story.

By the time the final shootout d emr rolled around I was left wondering why I should care about Denzel's next kill & the uninteresting plot (which was also very weak). I lost nearly all interest in this movie in the final action scene. Overall a really disappointing sequel that could have equaled if not surpassed the original if only for a better more interesting story, plotting and better dialogue. 5/10.
