Sherpas vs westerners? It's a LOT deeper than that
5 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I have fallen in love with this film, and I want to see it again and again!

The reviews that say it's all about "Western imperialism", is not completely wrong, but misses the mark.

What was clearly on display was MONEY privilege vs the poor Sherpas. Sherpas were betrayed by their government, their bosses, and their own conscience that desperately needs the money for their families.

I sincerely doubt most Westerners would look at the Napoli and call those grown strong men "boys". But these wealthy customers that pay six figures for the climb, it rolls off their tongue! Repeatedly!

This is a clear contrast between a normal, hard-working Westerners and how they treat different cultures, and versus MONEY privilege calling grown men with their own families "boys".

16 Sherpas die on the mountain! And the only thing the MONEY privilege care about is making the climb. "We all know there's certain risks". My challenge to MONEY privilege, the mountain is free for you to climb. Go ahead, climb! Yet MONEY privilege could not do the climb without the Sherpas, and the help from the Sherpas is expected- as if they owned them! Disgusting!

Only one money privilege man showed respect to the Sherpas and was glad the expedition was canceled to "respect those who lost their lives".

Russell, the big money owner of the expedition, all he cared about was changing the rules, so that "this cannot happen again". Not the loss of life, he clearly didn't care about that, but wanted to make sure that future expeditions could not be canceled. He wants to take away the rights of a Sherpas.

Have tissues ready.

I hope Russell enjoys his money while he's alive. Because there's nothing for him when he "moves forward"

Moonlighting: Lunar Eclipse (1989)
Season 5, Episode 13

Pathetic excuse for ending a classy show
22 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
In this episode was bizarre and disappointing.

The wedding scene was predictively going to be "funny", but it really went off the rails with the pool and the fight scene.

The writers should know if you try so hard to be funny, it becomes not funny, and even pitiable. That's exactly what they did here.

This episode gives us no closure for the drama and comedy that this was. And instead of breaking the fourth wall, as they did throughout the series with tongue in cheek jokes. What they did was the last 20 minutes is essentially the characters realizing they are getting cut, and trying to live on. That was not funny, it wasn't romantic, there's nothing good about that. And it doesn't give the audience the respect they deserve by giving us closure. It doesn't respect the characters either by sending them off into the sunset so to speak.

Nobody wants to see the studio parking lot.

Nobody wants to see a character crying because they're losing their job.

Overall, This is the worst show of the entire five years. The fans deserved better!

Watch it for yourself, I cannot recommend it enough!
4 March 2024
Acting is superb! On the mark!

Scenery is breathtaking Subject of death of a loved one a difficult topic to master without getting cheesy or cold.

I'm so impressed how Liam and his son carried themselves throughout the move, I highly recommend it!

This is one of those rare times I want to thank an actor for their work. Liam, Michael, thank you!

I do not understand why this movie has so much hate. Is it because it has real heartfelt meaning? And not a sex romp or witchcraft tale?

I don't get it.

Please watch the movie and decide for yourself if it's worth a low or high rating. If you recently lost a spouse, parent, partner, have the tissues ready and a beer. Watch with a friend or family member and share in the healing tears.

Moonlighting: Come Back Little Shiksa (1987)
Season 4, Episode 2
5/10
Beginning of the end
29 January 2024
This one was painful to watch. Most especially because it led up to the rest of the show with the primary characters separated from each other.

Disrespectful to the characters themselves, and it made for frustrating watching for the fans.

Disrespect all the way around!

Bruce Willis carries the show essentially by himself with a few regular characters. When you look at how this episode, and following episodes were developed, this is the beginning of when Cybil Shepard and Bruce Willis refused to be in scenes together. As reported by Curtis Armstrong in his book.

Bruce and Cybil had so much anger and hatred toward each other, that in order to keep the show going, the writers and producers had to accommodate their demands.

Which suggest one thing. You can't have that much anger and hatred for somebody that you didn't love it one time. That's just how the human heart works.

Sad conclusion to a great show
28 January 2024
All the males put on dresses and clownish exaggerated makeup: The skipper Mr Howle Professor, And Gilligan.

The humiliation ritual did them no good. The network lied to everyone that they were picked up for a fourth season.

But the network canceled them.

In fact the network resurrected the dying Gunsmoke instead of keeping their promise to the staff of Gilligan.

I wonder if all the males would have agreed to dress up in drag if the network would have been honest and told them "you're cancelled".

Cringe-worthy episode.

Everyone deserved better than this!

I'm glad they all were able to reunite for the tv movies.

Moonlighting: Sam & Dave (1987)
Season 3, Episode 12
5/10
So much potential, squandered
24 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This episode gave us the teaser, the potential that David and Maddy were actually going to get together. It's so obvious that they were both are smitten with each other.

And Maddi is going way off character and desiring a one night stand, and practically acts it out.

Ridiculous!

This really is a David Addison episode. We see how much work David does, works very hard to chase the woman he thinks is Maddi from ruining her life. And then he gets to her house (after the police station visit) he's exhausted, he's beaten up, he's dirty, and he's about to declare his love to Maddi.

A strange man answers the door, and David chickens out. I just don't believe it. I think a man would have been like "yes I want to talk to Maddi" and that strange man at Maddi's house even offered to wake her up. By all means, wake her up. Seize is the day!

This episode betrays the characters and it betrays the audience. It was the beginning of the end. Sad! This series had so much talent, it was off the charts! To be treated like this is really not fair.

Moonlighting: Big Man on Mulberry Street (1986)
Season 3, Episode 6
10/10
Every episode was like a movie
18 January 2024
This episode demonstrates very well that moonlighting was put together from its foundation, high-quality! Like a movie. The twist and turns of the plot, the exposure of the characters vulnerability, the gentle display of concern and affection for each other, shows the development of David and Maddy as characters.

It even has its own soundtrack!

That said, there is a one part of this episode that sticks out like in ugly sore carpenters thumb that was just hit by a hammer, but stuck on a Barbie.

We see seeded in this episode, an agenda that matches 2024 (or is it 2030 agenda?).

The actor chosen to play the character Mrs. Kendrick has the knuckles of a boxer, the discreetly covered adam's apple via high neck dress, the heavy make up of a drag queen, the voice of Dustin Hoffman playing "Tootsie", and a mop of big 80s hair shaping a very masculine face. I am not fooled, and I don't appreciate it.

It's just more proof that no matter good a series seems, for now, the puppet masters will do whatever they want.

Main stream/lame stream Dr. Quinn
9 January 2024
Dr Quinn was always known for being a B rated show. It was Sunday nights, a family show. Which means the target audience is about 10 years old, and something the parents can tolerate.

There was enough eye candy on the show to make it enjoyable for adults to watch.

But Dr. Quinn turned into every other series! The first year is lighthearted, and you kinda get into the snare thinking 'oh, this is a clean show, It's old-fashioned and wholesome'. I looked forward to watching it. But that's exactly what it is. It's a snare! Because then it changed! The violence, the suggestive sex of Colleen as a teenager, plus in this episode, the humiliation ritual of Jake and Lauren dressing to as women under the premise of free drinks.

Right!

It's is if they took a good show and tarnished it. But knowing hollywoodland, that may have been the intent all along.

Disappointing and unwatchable
3 December 2023
Let me premise this by saying that I love Denny Kaye! I was looking forward to seeing a movie of his that was new to me. I also love musicals, some of my favorite movies of all time are musicals.

That said, this movie stinks. It's a bad mix of something - only everything!

I don't know where they went wrong, but everything was wrong. The music was loud, and obnoxious, the acting was flat, and unbelievable. The music even made the beautiful scenery lackluster. It's shocking how much the music clashed with the beautiful scenery.

For everything to be so wrong, I put the blame squarely on two sets of shoulders: the producer, and the director. I'm not turned away from Denny Kaye, I'll continue to love him and look for his movies and shows.

Idiocracy (2006)
Hard to watch
24 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I think I figured out why fox buried this film. The film openly exposes that corporations bought out the F D@ , and other alphabet agencies... so the people subsequently got sicker and dumber, because they were told lies by c0rporate. The movie also shows very clearly that everyone in the future will be tatt00ed. As Luke's character is discovered not tatt00ed and barcoded is seen as shocking and scary.

While people got sicker and dumber, the most stupider people prolifically fertile and reproducing. The high IQ people trying to perfectly plan their families, died while trying to conceive.

Much of what this film is portraying has already happened in the past 3 years. We don't have to wait 500 years.

There's a lot of cursing, as expected by the rating. Plus the deplorable state of people is hard to watch. After the first 15 minutes, I fast forwarded to the end because it was that unwatchable. So cringe.

The acting skills vary. Maya Rudolph played her role the same in every role she plays... maybe she's playing herself? I am not impressed by her.

Luke Wilson was excellent as always, Terry as a former WWF champ turned president was pretty funny. But still, it couldn't hold my attention.

As one reviewer put, "watch the movie to figure out why this was buried". Well, the clues are everywhere. The media lies, and when they try to portray something as "safe and effective" per corporate motto, it's really making people sicker and dumber.

Here we are.

Idiocracy.

Outbreak (1995)

E-1101 vs today's suppressed cures
12 August 2023
What this movie got spot on is that after there was an outbreak, the cure was there all along. Yet, the army/us govt decided that the virus was too powerful a weapon to allow it to be destroyed by the antigen.

That is 100% real life in 2020. Cures were suppressed, and laws passed preventing doctors from prescribing them.

The other flipside of that story is that if there's an antigen, then the outbreak was caused by the same people that created the antigen. Otherwise, how could they have created antigen? But no, according to this fantasy, virus came from a bat out of chyn@, I mean a monkey from Africa.

I docked a few stars because the background music is loud and distracting, it does not add to the mood at all.

Good documentaryp
3 August 2023
I am a fan of the Raymond show, as is the rest of my family. 15 years after it's gone off the air and we still manage to watch it several times a week. Somehow it never gets old!

I just found out this documentary was done, so I was eager to watch it.

This was an eye-opening documentary of how everybody loves Raymond was made in Russia. There were moments of stress, there were moments of breakthroughs, and there were some light moments with the locals. This documentary was very well done. Contrast with most documentaries today are providing an angle to get you to do something. Most documentaries are pretty one-sided. This was not that kind of documentary. This was just telling the story, and it was enjoyable!

To sum up- there's sweet lessons that perseverance pays off, and families are the same all over the world.

I did not see this streaming, I got this from my local library. I don't think I would buy the DVD. I would find another way to watch it again. The DVD hijacks you with 15 minutes of solid advertisements. Dvd doesn't let you skip! Advertising disgusting shows that I would never watch that are TV-MA. That's not the fault of Phil Rosenthal, that's a Sony problem. Another ugly side of her show business.

Great gem! Get ready to laugh!
1 August 2023
This is a great film! Lots of twists and turns. This film genre, usually the twists and turns are expected and predictable. Not here! The twists were surprising, and each time hilarious! The roles were well played. Nice to see the life lessons weaved within the story.

Such as: the people that we need in a time of crisis, our friends and older family members usually know who we need, we just need to ask.

A proper coverup takes a team who is willing to work together for a common goal.

And love is found usually right within arms reach.

Cute and funny movie with a great ending. I highly recommended it! I have seen it eight times, and every time Cinevault has it on, I have to watch!

A comedy style often imitated, but here's the original
25 July 2023
I'm sure Lucille Ball borrowed her comedy genius of from Joan Blondell. The housewife that's bored and wants to be with her husband for his exciting career and gets her nose in his business. Constantly she sets him up, and turns out she needs her husband as much as he needs her, and her husband protects her from herself.

Douglas style of comedy is rather rough/ macho, but is often imitated by Desi Arnaz, and other macho characters throughout TV history.

Lucille Ball is hardly the only one to imitate Joan's comedy style. Fran Drescher is the most modern one I can think of.

Worth watching! 5*****

A sick affair, save yourself the pain
23 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It was aired on prime time NBC in the late 90s as "A strange affair". The network marketed it as a damsel in distress who found true love.

I'll watch, sure!

I started watching this also because I really like Jay Thomas and I've always liked Judith Light.

I suspect the actors played the characters as they were supposed to be. Needless to say, those characters are morally corrupt. ALL OF THEM!

This was a tit-for-tat marriage. "You wronged me so I'm gonna show you and wrong you back" that doesn't make you right, it debases you down to their level. And that's what Judith's character does.

She doesn't take the highroad by taking care of her husband, no, she sees it as a way to get him back. That's narcissistic manipulation, dare I say abuse?!. She gets a boyfriend and uses him to get back at her husband. Their argument, when she's cutting Jay's hair, is proof she's a narcissist user abuser. She gets him to apologize for her cruelty. Narcissist.

Her husband cheated on her. Not a good quality man, for sure, but he never brought those women home to *live* with them.

But she goes to find a boyfriend and convinces him to move it with her and her husband. Sick boyfriend with no morals. Who can even think of doing such a thing?

That makes her the heroine? That makes her the victim?

In this twisted movie, that's the claim

This is one of those movies that I just had to see to the end! It was like watching a car accident.

Unfortunately the ending was so bad! Such a gag reflex! Her husband dies, she starts necking her boyfriend, and they leave a picture up in the house of him. Focus on picture of Jay Thomas. End scene.

So cringe.

This has a mark of a lifetime movie, but this was not a lifetime movie. I'm sure the people involved with it may have a part in the lifetime network now, as this movie appears to be their moral compass.

Longmire: Goodbye Is Always Implied (2017)
Season 6, Episode 10

Wish I could give 0 stars
11 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Longmire turned a bit sci-fi as Walt heals from 4" stab wound to the gut by just going home for some vodka.

Yeah right That's really going off the rails, insulting the audience by giving us all the middle finger.

Which I suppose explains how the entire rest of the show went full twilight zone...

Vic's character went from an irritating unprofessional #$&+ in seasons 1-5, to a disordered eating gaunt nag who went after Walt like a predator.

I'm glad Nighthorse lived, but I'm not sure he was treated fairly.

Cady? She did not make friends, she made boyfriends. This is not a balanced woman with her head on straight at all. Cady has not even kept a job longer than a few months since she graduated. She continually acted like a teenager demanding her chance to prove whatever.... Cady Sherriff? This is now sci-fi twilight zone so yes, Cady can be Sherriff.

Walt retires and leaves his new gf to treasure hunt.

Leaving Vic makes sense, but Walt a treasure hunter?

Idiot writers! No one watched Longmire and expected the Twilight zone.

Thanks for the middle finger, I won't forget this one.

Impressive! surprisingly emotional and moving
25 January 2023
I'm writing this after the Oscar noms, and I can't believe Maverick only acquired one nomination for best picture. Many actors deserve to be nominated... That said, this story is played out so well, acting by all is realistic and excellent.

The flight scenes the film is all about will have your heart in your throat!

Very emotional, particularly scenes with his buddy ICE.

I only wish I could have seen it on the big screen.

This could be 10 stars, but note to producers, NOBODY wants to see a 60yo man getting it on.

I'm pleased to see Tom in his real skin, it's refreshing! Instead of that permanent look of surprise so many have in Hollywood after facelifts.

Extremely disappointing! OMITB, you lost a viewer
31 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The three stars are for three main actors, because it's not their fault the writing is so crappy.

I have been a loyal fan since episode one as OMITB has been an amazing display of talent and writing. Sadly the show now falls into the snare that most shows fall into... the first season is dynamic and winning, and the second season turns into crap. The reveal of the murder was ridiculous, as they kept showing throughout the season 2 the murderer was clearly a man.

A man's shoes, a man's stride, a man's shoulders, head, a man's sneeze! But it's Poppy??

Right.

I do not like to be baited/ switch.

And mable is friends again with Allison? Who only wants to profit from mable's sad life?

Yeah, right.

I think Mable is a lot smarter than that The end scene with Paul Rudd made zero sense. "I know what you did" ohhh Don't care.

There's no enticement for me to see what happens in season 3, as I already know the ridiculousness will continue.

I'm done.

Poor sound quality made it unwatchable
29 October 2022
This is an intriguing subject, based on fact. I really wanted to like it. Unfortunately, many interviews have very poor sound quality. Some interviews of experts were done online. So it's a recorded interview on a laptop. It has the sound quality of a laptop. Pretty poor quality to begin with, but that's fine for documentary. If you make it work. And the this editor, or whoever supposed to put it together, did not make it work, as they added background music that is dramatic and supposed to emphasize a point I guess, but music so loud it drowns out the speakers. And there's no closed captioning to help the audience understand what's going on. There is closed captioning for the local Puerto Ricans speaking Spanish, so at least there's that. But I couldn't finish watching it. Unable to hear the speakers defeats the purpose of a documentary. I'll just read the legends online.

Side splitting comedy!
27 October 2022
Brit humor is not really my thing. There's very little in the British world of entertainment that I respect or enjoy. This episode of IT crowd had me on the floor laughing! My stomach hurt from laughing!

It's really cool how they use situational comedy, essentially slapstick comedy and make it refreshing/ relevant to today.

In the end, they wrapped everything up with a nice bow.

I find it fascinating that the Brit's can make fun of the homeless, little people,, and come out smelling like a rose... and making them look good too..

They left me wanting more.

I would've enjoyed watching this earlier, discovering this in 2022 on the other side of the pond, it's kind of a bummer. But I'm glad to have it.

Scientology is threatened by Theroux's film, so I encourage all to watch!

It's disturbing that Tom Cruise gets top billing, even though he didn't actually star in it. Just archive footage. That part is weird, but, the rest of it is very disturbing to see how this so-called religion, it's manipulation and control over its members which pay $10000+ to join.

RUINED!
18 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is where they ruined the show!

Initially, this was a cute family friendly sitcom like the X-Files meets Abbott and Costello. Very corny, quirky, yet predictable humor, it was very enjoyable. But this episode changed to The X-Files meets The Office where everyone is against each other.

Previously everybody got along, everybody was flirting, and then Max finds out that his best friend has slept with the object of his affection. As bad as that is, there was no remorse, and the girl *was* flirting with him, then denies her flirtation completely and basically stomps on Max's heart and pisses on it.

I don't believe in coincidences. They wanted it off the air. What better way to do that then to ruin the show from the inside and make it look like it's their fault when in fact the network wanted to can it.

This is a quasi X-Files episode. Watching it at the end of 2021, it's eye-opening to see how much television programming is actually preprogramming.

What makes it a quasi-X-Files show is that while admitting humanity immune system is wiped out due to mandated vaccines, the only thing that can save humanity now is, guess what? A vaccine! Oh joy! One made with the crisper technology.

The so-called acting of agent Einstein is worse than an after school special.

The classic actors of Mulder, Scully, smoking man, and Tag O'Malley, each get one star. But that's all I can give.

I love the Beverly hillbillies!
20 September 2021
The original Beverly Hillbillies was goofy and highly rated.

The movie is also goofy, but it's not highly rated. There's a few things that don't come across right.

In the original TV show, granny had an integral part. In the movie, unfortunately granny doesn't get much time. Lea Thompson's character is in almost every scene. Which is disappointing. I don't care for her, and she should not be center stage in a hillbilly story.

Using Lea all the time turned the rest of hillbilly characters into supporting actors.

In spite of the negativity, I still encourage people to see it, just for a silly break. Life is hard enough, enjoy some silliness in your life. And at least get to the credits where you can see the outtakes and the actors laughing together and playing together.

You shouldn't have to wait until the ending credits and out takes to feel a connection to the characters, but that's what it takes. So that blame lies squarely in the directing. The director should have been able to get that from the actors.

So well made!
16 August 2021
I wish I could have seen this on the big screen! This was an impressively made film.

When you know the story so well through all the books and the reports, it's hard not to critique the film through that lens. As a film it's limited because it shows the collective story through the perspective of an observer.

So the nitty-gritty that is the individual stories of the survivors, and the dead, not explicitly told. But that doesn't take away the effects of the acting, and the special effects of the weather, and the turn of events. These are real people, with real lives, real families, who had goals.

They all intersected together at a point in time that cost some their lives.

Many actors I already liked, some of them I can't stand, but regardless, everybody's performance was excellent! They all worked so well together.
