Poor Things (2023)

Divine, but I understand that many won't mesh with it

This is a beautiful film that's part American McGee's Alice, part Amelie, and part Frankenstein. It's bold and toothy, and it makes a steely statement about the male gaze and women's roles in society. I thought it was masterful. I will say: if you find things that make you uncomfortable you as you watch it, that's intentional. The filmmakers pit together a great story and i feel it made its point with gusto. There is nudity and sexual content and undoubtedly some will find that unacceptable. However i do feel that it does serve to further the point of the movie. If sex was not a subject of this film, it wouldn't be able to make the point it set out to make.

Weird, quirky, artsy, but ultimately fun

It's not the best psychological thriller. It's odd, and derivative at times. But it was a fun afternoon watch. If you're looking for a ride, and not picky about the journey this might be for you.
