Mamma Mia! (2008)
Brilliant!
The funniest, most outlandish thing I have seen in ages! I just came back from a preview screening, and my god it was brilliant! I caught myself actually singing along to the Dancing Queen scene, and I was desperate to get up and dance - but I thought better of it, as I was in the middle of a cinema..! In short, Streep plays a funny, heart-warming role as Donna, and Colin Firth (Coah!!) looks just as sexy as ever. Pierce Brosnan - wow, but can't sing to save his life! Julie Walters is fantastic, but looks somewhat dykish (on purpose??) and Christine B... can't remember her name but anyway, they're all brilliant as the outlandish 70s trio. Go - just go - if you want to see a feel good film!
High School Musical (2006)
Rubbish.
This was one of the worst films I have seen in a long, long time. My sister got it for Christmas, and I was like, OK, I'll watch it with you, just for fun. I had to stop myself from throwing the TV out the window. Its just so... all American (I'm British), and it is all happy lalala, this is the perfect life kind of thing, which I loathe with more loathing than a loathing person. Anyway, please, do yourself a favour and don't watch it... you will just end up annoying yourself more than is necessary, and you may even give yourself a heart attack. Oh, and one more thing before I leave you, I did happen to like some of the songs, I mean, some of them, are, OK, right? But some are just plain awful, and the Drama teacher is way too stereotypical. No drama teacher dresses like that now. I have 2 and they are just like any other teacher, not the stereotypical "artsy-fartsy" kind of crap. God, just please, please, don't watch it.
Waterloo Road (2006)
Well worth watching!
I just watched the first episode of the new series last night, and I have to say that it was absolutely fantastic - a bursting start to the new series! The series this time deals with bullying as a main issue, and this, I know is close to many people's hearts. I believe that by broadcasting stuff like this, it will get people to see just what life is like in some of the more deprived schools of the UK. The series also deals with some staff and adult bullying, as well as the slimy Lorna trying to get her ex-husband back off her best friend - SHE says she's not doing anything, Izzie knows otherwise, and feels threatened. It is going to be a shaky term at Waterloo Road this year, but after the bang of the first school day, things will, er, hopefully improve!
