Battlefield Earth (2000)
Not bad actually
My only gripe with the film is it drags out until 3/4 towards the end then the excitement starts. The 'psychlo' get ups were pretty cool, and I thought Barry Pepper did a good job in his role along with John Travolta and Forest Whitaker. I'll admit I have seen better futuristic doomsday sci-fi flicks but I have seen way worse too. If you sit back and keep your expectations low, this film will provide some cheesy entertaining fun. At least this film doesn't show the dramatic farewell kisses always exchanged between lovers before the hero takes off. And thank goodness this film lacked the gratuitous smut that is becoming all too habitual in movies! I wouldn't buy this movie, but if I catch it on cable, I'll watch it. Or if it's not on cable, rent it or borrow it!
Driving Force (2006)
One of the better shows out there
In an entertainment world that bombards viewers with endless violence and smut, "Driving Force" is a welcome and hilarious distraction. We get to follow the most legendary drag racer, John Force as he attempts to bond with his three racing daughters after missing out on a lot of things in their life in pursuit of his championships and tries to patch things up with his estranged wife Laurie. John Force may come off as a hot head and his daughters may seem like typical spoiled girls but no family is perfect and people like to see dysfunction. Plus that is only one side to the family being shown. If the Force family was presented like Ward and June Cleaver or Ozzie and Harriet Nelson, this show would have been yanked after the first episode. Hopefully this show will bring publicity to NHRA and will show viewers that the world of drag racing is more than racing a nitro fueled funny car or dragster down a quarter mile at 300+ mph and signing autographs. It is a business and a lot of hard work as the Force family proves while trying to make their mark and come together as a legendary racing family.
Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist (2005)
The power of Chirst compels you...
to run to church and say every prayer you know after watching this ghastly movie! From start to finish you are thrown into a world of gore, brutality and gratuitous violence. Besides the movie making no sense lots of the violence was unnecessary. It just shows how far people will go to satisfy the public's need for violence! Not to mention people's insatiable needs for sequels, prequels, etc. If this film was to garner pity for Father Merrin and explain how he gets to meet Regan then it has failed miserably. If anything, all this film shows is how easy it is to turn from God when things get at their worst and to never stick your nose in things that you shouldn't! And don't pick up any freaky looking talisman's shaped like demon's!
