Night Sky (2022)
A Shame
It's a great shame that this hasn't been renewed for a second season. Yes it is slow paced and maybe people who are not used to that, but what's wrong with that?
As well as being a sci-fi story this is also a character-lead story, and I think it's great to see such a positive representation of an elderly couple still very much love but dealing with life's difficulties. The two leads are terrific, and the supporting cast also very good.
There are potholes and a few goods, but that's truth about that's true of most shows.
It was beautifully set up for a second season and it said that it probably won't be shown now.

Superb
This damn show! I'm laughing out loud one second then crying my eyes out the next .It has such heart, such incredible acting and writing.
The scenes between Jack and Eyatomi where Jack is trying to understand empathy and connecting with a potential girlfriend are beautifully written and acted.
The final 'The Way We Were' scene is one of the most powerful scenes I have ever seen on television or film.

As someone who identifies as being on the spectrum myself (meaning: I'm not formally diagnosed) this means so much to me. While these characters seem to me to be quite extreme portrayals of those on the spectrum I can still easily identify with their struggles.
Thank you for this!

A word of advice
Do not start watching this show if you have to be somewhere else or do something else anytime soon. Clear the day, or a night. Once you start watching you may not be able to stop.
"Groundbreaking" doesn't even come close to describe this. I thought the best portrayal of autistic people that has ever been seen on screen, and for once autistic characters being played by autistic people. This show has so much heart! Yes it is very moving, so keep the tissues handy, but it's also really really funny. I fell in love with the characters especially the amazing Violet straight away. I know Sue Ann Pien has already won awards for this role but in my opinion she deserves an Emmy!
All the other main characters are terrific too, and the writing is just fantastic, the stories, everything.
This is an absolute must watch for anyone who appreciates good TV, it is unique and it's almost criminal that it hasn't been renewed for a second season.
I can't recommend this highly enough!
Mammals: Episode 3 (2022)
Great
Whatever we may think of James Corden in real life this is a reminder that primarily he is just a fantastic actor! And of course writer. Before he became famous as Smithy from Gavin and Stacey he was already being hailed as one of Britain's great new actors especially for his stage role in History Boys, then in the TV series Fat Friends, where he met Gavin and Stacey co-star and co-writer Ruth Jones.
He is just brilliant in this and carries the show, with a compex and nuanced portrayal of a tortured man in love. The supporting cast are also excellent.
The frequent references to whales and Moby Dick point to the themes of chasing your dreams to the point of obsession, perhaps to the exclusion of all and everyone else. I only started watching this casually but have become hooked, it's an excellent examination of relationships and
of our complex psyches.
