Ignore the review bombing, innovative time travel series
17 June 2022
First of, a mini rant about review bombing...It's pathetic and pointles. There is a definite pattern to it and I think most people know why. It's ruining the reputation of genuine, respectable review sites. Ok on to the series...absolutely loved it! I thought it was a creative take on the time loop genre and plenty of room to grow. The story is compelling, good character development and mostly great acting. There are minor moronic moments but easily forgotten as the story moves at pace. Look forward to S2 to see where the rabbit hole goes.

Brilliant sci-fi drama
22 May 2022
I really enjoyed this touching sci-fi mystery drama. It starts off slow but gives plenty to character development and goes deep into some very sensitive topics. As the episodes progress, the main story arc accelerates but with a gentle foot on the pedal. The acting is superb and casting on point. JK Simmons is excellent throughout. It has a great season finale and plenty to work with for more seasons. I have no idea why the rating is so low, deserves more!

Shame about Season 2
29 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Season 1 of Russian Doll was absolutely brilliant and if I had reviewed it having seen just that, it would have been a 9. I do highly recommend watching season 1. Sadly I watched season 2 and really didn't enjoy it at all. Some episodes were extremely boring and I was looking at my phone. They would of been better off having a fresh time loop rather than time travel for season 2.

Extremely frustrating series but had to watch to find out what happens. Acting is poor, dialogue is poor, character interactions are diabolical. You want almost all if not all characters to die yet I wanted to know where the story was going. No government would let a bunch of childish, hormonal airheads lead the charge on potentially saving the human race. However I love sci fi and if you do, it's worth wading through the excrement to get to the good bits. If you're easily frustrated, this series is not for you.

Killing Eve: Hello, Losers (2022)
Season 4, Episode 8

Uffff

Warning: Spoilers
Absolutely dreadful viewing. Season 4 should have brought the core values of the show back to its start, bearing in mind season 3 had drifted away.... NO! No fashion, dreary locations, terrible script, pointless character deaths and most anticlimactic ending ever!! I'm summarising the negatives here.

If you're gonna kill off a show about assassins at least make it an honorable death!

Suspenseful sci fi
3 January 2022
I really enjoyed this series. Clever use of silence in the right places to create a lot of suspense. Some great ideas and concepts. Nods to other sci fi classics. Some of the reviews on here are awful and the series deserves a lot more credit.

The Boys (2019– )
10/10
Totally blown away!
28 July 2019
I barely knew nothing about this release but saw the cast and read the few details and thought yep go go go......well it was an amazing series. Up there with Daredevil season 1 (if not better!).

So a lot of reviews have covered a lot of ground but first off, Anthony Starr....wow! His portrayal of homelander is compelling, intriguing and genuinely terrifying! He could easily be in top 5 bad guys list. He made me feel genuinely uncomfortable! The way he looks at men, women and children.....he has that Anthony Hopkins pizazz lol The star of the show.

Each character is perfectly casted and the acting stellar. The script is brilliant with Urban's Billy Butcher having the best of it. The story is intriguing, winding and meandering with purpose rather than time filling. You invest yourself completely in each episode. The gore is crazy but despite its lunacy goes perfectly well with the storyline I thought! The action is great although perhaps not as much as some might want to see.

The first series of The Boys is up there with the best and I'm eagerly anticipating the second series. Congratz Prime on this one!

Funny and originally done!
30 June 2019
I had to do a review for this movie as the score it got is so below what it's worth! Watched it on Netflix and was laughing a lot throughout the movie. McCarthy was a hit for me in this one. I like muppets for adults and I hope HA make more like this....how I wish there was more like team America too :)

Good visuals, crazy story, poor acting
5 May 2019
Well just watched this movie and I will start with the story. In reality, it would take at least multi millions of years for the sun to become as 'unstable' as they suggest or to engulf the earth (billions more like). Ok so let's forget the science, a little like Danny Boyle's Sunshine, and see how they deal with this impending world ending disaster. Well, it's very silly how they combat this too! They will 'move' the earth with the power of 10,000 propulsion engines......hmmmmm ok moving on!

So the movie plays out like most disaster movies, however I was impressed by the visuals and the icy earth looked breath taking quite literally! The later parts of the movie did have some epic visuals.

However, what let's this movie down are the main characters. They are uninteresting and quite annoying at times. I. The acting is rather shambolic most of the time and some odd relationship tensions. It was interesting to see the China/Russia friendship play out though. Evil AI makes an appearance too but it is so underwhelming.

Overall, weighing up the good and bad equals an average score. You can't just give a sci fi movie with good visuals a high score, it needs a heart and soul which this movie does not have.

Starts interesting, gets boring and frustrating by episode 4
14 April 2019
Me and my gf watched this just now.....it starts intriguing but by episode 4 my gf was saying switch it off. Why? Because the intrigue disappears fast and the frustration sets in....I think both of us threw in the towel when the guy was shopping in the supermarket. From this point on it is such frustration and I was rooting for all characters to die as fast as possible. Really disappointed, was hoping for early TWD feeling but no it's not there. Just like to say those people saying it is better than TWD.....what show were you watching?! Even TWD season 6 and 8 are better than this garbage!

Unoriginally Stupid
11 April 2019
This movie is a complete rip off of A Quiet Place only done multiple times worse. The human enemies in this film are probably the worst thought out I've seen in a while. Bearing in mind the event has just happened, people have already reached series 6 Walking Dead crazy?! Never mind, completely forgettable film.

1/10 Acting, 9/10 unintentional comedy value
10 March 2019
First of all, this show is worth watching! Although not for conventional reasons. I started out by following the story until I realised the acting and dialogue wasn't going to improve. Now you could walk away at that point OR watch this as a comedy! If you pick the latter, grab a drink with friends and laugh your azz off at how bad it is. I look forward to the 2nd season of this knowing what to expect!
