Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far on Foot (2018)
The acting...wow.
Jonah Hill is phenomenal in this movie. Jack Black and Joaquin are such a close second behind. Just a touching and beautiful story.
All We Had (2016)
KH kills it in this...
... mom and daughter coming of age movie. My mom and I struggled growing up and I get it. If you like gritty independent films with truth in them, this is for you. Plus the entire cast is amaZing.
Samson (2018)
I love that I had to do a double take with Jackson..
With that being said, I feel that Billy Z carried most of this with Jackson coming in a solid 4th place. Some of the acting in this falls flat, not really grabbing the attention, maybe the writing out the story wasn't as exciting as it could've been (yes I know this is an adaptation, YES even more it's from the Bible but the wording is very different... if you're still concerned I'm a devout Baptist ex with a spiritual guidance... you don't like it, blow me).
With that being said, I'm going to watch it again bc A) if there is a God I've got a wildcard in my bag and B) I really like Billy and I really like Jackson.
Something about it being based on a true story helps too.
Mowgli (2018)
This is WAY better than I thought it would be.
I almost feel as if this ruined my childhood cartoon Tarzan for me. ALMOST. It's so lifelike that it makes you shudder. I gave it a 7 only because I wanted my babies to watch it but am grateful I didn't let them. At the same time I'm so happy to see this. The fact that "Smeagle" directed this beautiful visual of what could've been is why I watched it in the first place. This movie does not disappoint! The 'man vs. animal concept is so apropos because it becomes a (wo) man vs. nature so to speak.
