How I Met Your Father (2022–2023)
3/10
Missing magic
5 February 2023
The cast is ok, the writers have a playbook to work with, and yet it's just... not good.

Most of the jokes fall flat which is only made worse by the laugh tracks. There seems to be no comedic timing. And the storylines are either super cringey or bland.

Of course this will be compared to How I Met Your Mother (I don't understand those that don't expect it would or should be) but it's missing so much of the magic from the original.

Am I still watching it? Regrettably yes, and I don't know why, since I don't think I've laughed at a single joke. Maybe I'm just waiting/hoping that it might get better. I don't know how the writers fix it at this point. To be honest I'm surprised it wasn't cancelled after the first season.

Extraordinary (2023– )
9/10
Worth a binge watch
29 January 2023
I must admit, when Disney+ first recommended this to me I expected it to be an American show aimed at teens, and I immediately wrote it off. Thank goodness my curiosity later prevailed!

Set in the UK, Extraordinary is centred around a group of 25 year olds in a world where everyone has powers... except Jen.

Much the same energy as Sex Education and Derry Girls, it shows (mostly) real life situations, turned up a notch thanks to shape-shifting, super strength, teleportation, and flight.

Each episode is around 30 mins and has a mid-credit scene. Great casting, writing, and relatable storylines make this a must watch for any fan of British comedy/drama.

Relieved to see it has already been confirmed for a second season.
