Crazy Stone (2006)

so much fun and so much to think
20 August 2006
Just when i gave up on Chinese movies, there came the Crazy Stone. It brought me so much fun and made me to regain the hope for the Chinese movies. Never would I consider any liberal and entertaining stuff, such as the Crazy Stone, coming out nowadays from a social context that was tightly controlled, like the Chinese political environment. With a brand new vision the young and open minded director Hao Ning, again, showed us his talents of convincing over people's pockets and their hearts. The director, simply like anyone else, sees the craziness in today's China and has the urge to express his and also everybody else's bewilderness, coz everybody is so lost in front of the money. people do not know where they are and where to go , more crazily, they do not have the rights and power to know about it, so why do not people just make fun of the whole madness, isn't it what China all about now, chaos and craziness... ...

The last movie you want to torsure yourself with
30 December 2005
Well I don't know how to put it exactly, I had a very high expectation on this movie before it came out, mostly because all those excellent ones made by Chen Kaige before. To be frankly, I used to think that he was the no.1 guy in Chinese film production, I can still recall those tear-shedding moments that he gave me through his unique and humane perspectives and works. Nevertheless, I do not know exactly what went wrong with him this time, it turns out this movie is such a joke, there is hardly any fresh ideas, floppy plot, childish lines and totally irrelated actings, not mention the lame KungFu action part and hillbilly costumes...all in all it is more than just a big disappointment, and the last thing you wanna see is the whole Chinese film industry would follow his footsteps backwards. Although as a Chinese it has been very hard for me to criticize Chinese movies, I can not hold what I truly wanna say it is a big failure and setback!

it reminds us of the first love we had long ago

it reminds us of the first love we had long ago, and nothing can restrain the passion of those young with full of confusion and possibilities. We are always amazed by those colorful characters formed under the certain political time. This film has successfully reached to the part that all human beings share with no matter what political conditions. Although the specific time is long gone and would never come back to China, those old, pure and simplified memories would never fate away. It will always be part of the history and part of us. It is not that simple to tag that time as wrong or right, it was just there, always there, with some smell some colours we never want to leave behind.
