Tried to fit in too much and ran out of steam
24 March 2024
Huge fan of the first few original movies. They were good and didn't try too hard. Focused on the main characters and the ghosts even had something enjoyable about them.

But it seems these days Ghostbusters has fallen victim of trying too hard and making a connection with everybody by introducing all these extra characters with their own backstory. The ghosts just become a pawn piece and aren't really the focal point. So much promise in the first half hour, but then more new characters, more side stories, lots of one liners, and then...a quick wrap up and credits roll. Snore. Don't waste your $

Where's the rest?
20 January 2023
It's not a terrible movie, in fact it has great action sequences and you really start to connect with the characters. But it spends so much time talking and setting up the narrative, that when it suddenly end it leaves you wondering 'Wait, is this it? Where's the rest of it? Will there be a sequel?'. When it ended I honestly went online to find out if this was the first of a planned 3 part movie series. But it isn't. It would be great as a first episode of a TV series with the remaining episodes maybe running shorter in time. Or the first of a trilogy of movies. But unfortunately it's not - well not yet. But since there's nothing in the works, this movie will get bad ratings and reviews, and will end up as a failure, meaning no sequel. And that kinda sucks. I'd like to see more and see the story develop further. So I'm giving it an 8 in the hopes that it won't just end the way it did. But as a stand alone movie, I'd more likely just give it a 6 - potential wasted.

Black Bird: You Promised (2022)
Season 1, Episode 6

Wow...just wow!
6 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This series started off pretty good. The episodes were well paced, not giving you too much, keeping you guessing and wondering. Feeling a bit like Jimmy hoping for info from Hall, but only getting bits and pieces along the way and feeling frustrated & wanting to just beat the confession out of Hall but still wondering did he do it (I had a moment thinking his brother did it or was involved)

Then this episode!! We all know it's the finale, so just waiting to see where it ends up. Surely there'll be a confession. But will Jimmy get one AND make it out. Will he just kill Hall himself. Still we're on the edge of our seats, waiting and hoping.

The moment he got the confession was brilliant acting by both Hall and Jimmy. And now Jimmy is in solitary and I'm just yelling at the tv for someone to just listen to the man!! Wondering if he's gonna get stabbed or something. Such an emotional roller coaster!!

Sigh of relief and cheering when Jimmy finally tells the FBI, and you can see his pain from all the nightmares Hall left him with - remembering all the details. And the court room scene when Jimmy gets his freedom - brilliant acting again, had me feeling all emotional. Truly believable performance.

I still couldn't believe this was based on a true story. Not sure if it all went down the same way as this show, but regardless - this was amazing TV watching. Hope it gets some oscar or award - especially the main cast: Taron Egerton and Paul Walter Hauser were amazing! Some of the best acting I've seen in a very long time. Just pure brilliance!!

Also can't go past Sepideh Moafi, Greg Kinnear, and Jake McLaughlin. Great performances.

And finally, but not least - Ray Liotta (RIP). Brilliant performance as has always been the case of this acting genius!

Superman & Lois: Truth and Consequences (2022)
Season 2, Episode 11

This episode has it all!

Warning: Spoilers
Finally, one of the big reveals!! Next could it be Jordan? I was seriously worried the show was going to hold back and make Clarke second guess his decision and say nothing - edge of my seat awesome moment waiting for the will he won't he.

But now she knows his secret, will she survive the end of the season?

Also, one complaint, the amount of time and the speed at which Lana was moving to remove that kryptonite was so painful to watch and not in a good way. Terrible writing for this scene!!

Not a bad movie, but wrong genre categories
10 November 2021
I went in expecting something which wasn't - and that's the main reason for my 5 star rating. Remove Action and Adventure as a genre, and I'd give this a solid 7.

The movie is indeed very slow, with a lot of dialogue, and a lot of D&M moments. Whilst the cast don't really gel with each other that much, I don't feel they need to, considering their back story and that it's not really what this movie is about.

I recommend this movie for the story lines are not as bad as some may make them out to be. The acting is on point with the each character and the roles they play.

You'll be disappointed though if you're going in for some top action sequences and a feeling of adventure - this makes up maybe 10% of the movie, which is not much when the whole thing is 2.5hrs long.
