Hagazussa (2017)
You can escape from everything, except your own self
Darkness is, as many people describe God, beyond our human understanding. Inside your head, there is a grinning, lifeless skull; and the organs and systems inside you, will eventually rot and turn into airborne dust that was once rot and stench. Thus is the mind. it holds together until driven to the edge, and the push usually comes from birth. We are made of life and death, we are creation and decay. The thin line that separates creation from murder is erased before our very eyes during this movie, and we are shown that no monsters, demons or creatures of myth are as maddening as we humans are. We have spawned them, we are the crib. Betrayal from the womb. Betrayal from our peers. Betrayal from within. If you can sit through this film; filled with uncanny moments of beauty, aural and visual pain, you will ask yourself if you have ever heard your name being called from the dark... and you will be thankful for the advancement and solid walls and modernity around you.
Corpse Bride (2005)
He overdid it! Too "Burtony".
Seeing this movie is no different an experience from seeing any other Burton's movies.
I rate Batman and Beetle Juice as masterpieces, but now I'm not too sure about his animated films.
If a director uses a formula too many times, it tends to wear old. I'm personally tired of short, crooked figurines singing around and black and white curly touch-ups, also I'm through with his common places and the gloomy, goth-like atmosphere.
I can name at least three of his films with a similar graphic style and look-alike characters.
I thing he tried to pull off a collage of his best movie making techniques and added up new visual breakthroughs, like realistic fire blazes and seamless CGI, but the movie as a whole is like a Burton's buff's wildest dream. Or in my case, worst nightmare.
