Til Death Do Us Part (2017)
It's an EXACT COPY of Sleeping With The Enemy
Either the original sold their rights or there's going to be a lawsuit. It's the BET version of Sleeping With The Enemy. Instead of stealing apples, it's stealing lemons. Instead of faking death via drowning, it's a car accident. Instead of the neighbor guy love interest having a 6 year-old niece, it's a daughter. Instead of wearing the black dress for him she wears the red. Instead of the matching wedding rings, it's a matching set of necklaces. Instead of a mother being in the rest home, it's a father. Instead of straightening the towels on the bar, it's leaving the toilet seat up. IT IS A COPYCAT OF SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY FROM START TO FINISH. And, it isn't very good. Enemy came out back in 1991. It was extremely popular, about as such as Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window. As with Rear Window, practically everyone has seen Enemy, young and old alike, so it's kind of weird to see such a poorly made version.
Shattered Hopes: The True Story of the Amityville Murders - Part II: Mob, Mayhem, Murder (2012)
I actually really enjoyed it
I've seen all the conspiracy theory stories about this heartbreaking case. I came across this one and decided to give it a try and I'm glad that I did. It included all the older evidence and stories that I'd heard since this case started, but also looked at this case from a different angle based on evidence and interviews with the people who were close to the family and there at the time. I'm not sure this would be called a "conspiracy theory" film, more of a documentary style film of interviews with people close to the family and close to the case with some of the evidence reexamined. What's real? That's the fun and interesting part. This film lets me take ALL the information I've ever known of this story and conclude my own opinions but it also introduces some new information to add as well. Overall, I really enjoyed watching it.
Marie Antoinette (2006)
Silliness
It's definitely geared toward a 14 year-old mind. Not at all inviting, let alone remotely interesting based on...mere silliness. If you are looking for something that reveals what 1700's France was like through a film, Look elsewhere. The costumes are Hunger Games meets Valmont with a 1980's slang dialogue AND an 80's musical score to match. About 3 historical facts in this film are accurate and the balance is fluff made up by who knows...Sophia Coppola is an idiot, always has been, confirmed by New York Stories back in the day and this takes the Marie Antoinette Cake...literally.
L'inconnu du lac (2013)
Film is absent of a plot and is a linear film of nothing but adult scenes.
I'm a fan of Hitchcock but Hitchcock, this is not. Hitchcock authored MYSTERIES AND THRILLERS. This is nothing but intense gay pornography. I'm an open-minded person who loves foreign, indie and all kinds of films, especially subtitles. But this was just...bad. I watched it through to ensure an accurate review. If you removed all the close-up gay scenes, money shots, oral and just plain pornography, the actual dialogue and story take up only 10 minutes. Moreover, it's incredibly predictable and left no plot twist. Then again, THIS FILM IS ABSENT OF A PLOT. The entire movie is nothing but a gay man cruising for risky gay sex at a lake which is a known gay hangout, at which time he witnesses a murder. There is no suspense. There is nothing but hardcore adult scenes and close-up shots of what's happening in those adult scenes. In the USA I'm fairly certain this would be rated "X" for adult because there's nothing but come shots in rapid succession...oral, hand, back end, anything gay, it happens here. But no actual STORY. I waited for a plot to emerge until the end and nothing happened, except for more hardcore adult scenes. Is there some secret message hidden in this film that I'm missing? Don't be gay because you'll get killed at a lake? Shoot your spunk to the left? I'm all about erotic but this is not. Just scene after scene after scene of passionless risky gay scenes at a beach. Another reviewer compared this to Rear Window. It is nothing like Hitchcock but NOW I get the joke! A million close-ups of rears in the scenes!
Creep 2 (2017)
Just awesome
Impeccable acting to start. Duplass brings this character to life with such skill and ease that this role clearly must have been written for him. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I rarely hit pause during movies to take a break, I just let the film play. Not with Creep or Creep 2! I watched both several times straight through in case I missed out on one of the little nuances of character. I rarely give all 10 stars, especially for a horror / thriller but this took the cake! A run-of-the-mill campy horror flick, this is not. Watch until the end. I'm hoping for a Creep 3!
