The Ignorant Angels (2022– )

A REAL Review...
10 August 2022
I don't know what the 10 starrers watched, but it wasn't "The Ignorant Angels" (look at how they are ALL written - dead giveaway they aren't real).

It was like a VERY bad soap opera but with better camera work - the acting and dialogue were appallingly bad. I literally have enjoyed watching paint dry more than I did watching this; don't waste your time.

Never trust the puppet...
15 March 2022
We know what one errant line of code can do, let alone a computer virus - it can destroy. Add it to a humanoid body, give it hacker skills, and you have a walking, talking annihilation machine. When the puppet outgrows the creator, there isn't room for both. Viruses live to spread. This episode and its follow-up are valid warnings. Remember, never create something you can't control - it WILL end badly.

This ISN'T a "Mockumentary"....
3 November 2021
"The Raincoat Killer", et al, is a documentary on how, despite being one of the most abjectly inept police forces to exist, the Seoul, Korea police caught a serial killer. Apparently, the Seoul police worked on a reward basis for promotion, so they didn't bother themselves with any other crimes but murder; you'd think they'd have been better at it. The documentary is incredulously amusing at times, which is disturbing. It also gave insight into who the P. D. found valuable in society and who they didn't/don't.

"Alien TV" is a KID'S show but it's FUN!
25 August 2020
"Alien TV" is a fun kid's show about three little aliens trying to decipher earth and its inhabitants, mainly humans. There are some lessons mixed in but, for the most part, it's a light-hearted show that all ages will enjoy. Lighten up folks and laugh a bit!

How far will you go for your health and well-being?
17 August 2020
(UN)WELL, a docu-series by Netlix, explores some of the current "get well" fads (mostly) in Western cultures and how far some people are willing to push the envelopes to "get better". Most of the fads are just the evolutions of previous ones, i.e. burning patchouli incense to now ingesting and topically applying essential oils, taking LSD to now ingesting Ayahuasca, following a diet to now starving yourself (fasting), etc. The decision regarding whether the outcomes are purely psychosomatic or real is left up to the spectator.

Justified (2010–2015)

"Justified", a show I loved to hate.
9 April 2020
In a nutshell, I loved to hate "Justified". The only reason it came to my attention after multiple years of being a completed series is because it kept showing up in my Hulu queue as something I might be interested in, so, eventually, I tuned in and kept tuning in because of the excellent casting and acting, dialogue, and overall production; in other words, it really is a great series. Why did I love to hate it?; because the "bad guys" won a lot more than the "good guys". "Justified" is essentially a "Wild, Wild West" drama relocated to the hills of Kentucky where gold and black gold have been replaced by the illicit drug trade and greed and abject poverty keep the wheels constantly greased; bodies drop like matchsticks and life is basically worthless to those around you who's only moral code is "don't get caught", and most don't because many of the "powers that be" are either in on it, or, just don't care. Sounds depressing, I know, and, sometimes, I could only watch an episode at a time, however, I continued to watch it until the end (there were also times I could swear the banjo from "Deliverance" was going to play which gives credence to the quality of production). I'd recommend at least tuning in once - you might like it.

Not Dave's Finest Hour...
15 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I love comedy, all kinds, and don't get offended easily; a lot of people erroneously place social mores on comedians and it's a waste of time - they're SUPPOSED to push boundaries. That being said, there are some places you just don't go and Dave went there. You don't make fun of victims of sexual assault especially not children, period, and if you find this kind of humor funny, well, you've got problems that you and your therapist should be discussing and don't come near me and mine; it palled the rest of the set. Dave can spout the "F" and "N" words all he wants - not an issue, but the other is. This was not Dave Chapelle's finest hour. (The special after the main event was good - let the credits roll and it will come on automatically.)

Esther is Out of Control...

I almost didn't watch because I've never been a big fan of Wanda's comedy style, however, I'm glad I changed my mind - this was good humor!; and if you watch, you'll figure out who Esther is...

Mix of the Old and the New...
16 May 2019
In a tribute to Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In, it was a mix of old clips and today's talent paying homage to the original. The show was, also, a comedic reminder that "what comes around goes around" as what was occurring then in the U.S. and the world is relevant, now, again. It's a show that doesn't take itself too seriously (while being insanely serious), isn't politically correct, and only panders to itself - if you can't handle any of this, you won't enjoy it, otherwise, you'll find it funny.

Amy Schumer: Growing (2019 TV Special)
9/10
Apparently, I appreciate evolved humor more than SOME others...
25 March 2019
This comedy special, "Growing", by Amy Schumer is "lighter" fare than her usual (not so crass). I thoroughly enjoyed it and laughed out loud throughout! However, if you're someone who can't handle talk about women's periods (something experienced by over 50% of the population at some time in their lives) or some of the pitfalls to pregnancy (something ALSO experienced by a large portion of the aforementioned 50%), or, if you're someone that believes that women should just "accept" being sexually harassed or assaulted (that pesky 50%, again), maybe you're even a perpetrator of said actions, then, it's not for you. Otherwise, it's hysterical (I'll probably watch it again)! Regarding some of the very low reviews, a lot of them are pretty demeaning, and, quite bluntly, unnecessary - you can give a low rating without stooping to that level of vitriol.

Bird Box (2018)

No One's Fear is Exactly the Same...
9 January 2019
The Bird Box is essentially a movie about what you would do when "faced" with your ultimate fear; not only has your boogey-man come alive, or worst scenario unfolded, but, it's been weaponized, and, if you look at it, it will compel you to kill yourself, so, what lengths will you go to to save yourself and your loved ones? I read a lot of reviews, and a lot of people seem to be caught up in the specifics - what do the "entities" look like or what are the people seeing, etc., and that's part of the premise - they're not going to look the same to anyone; it's about what each individual imagines (remember imagination?). The ending seems to be a bone of contention, too, and, basically, that's because it's not an ending, it's a beginning.

Ultimately, a Search for Justice...
31 December 2018
Murder Mountain is, ultimately, an in-depth look at a family trying to seek justice for a murdered loved one in an area that has been defined by its "lawlessness" for generations due to the large amount of illegal cannabis grows once found there. Humboldt County, California is known for its "Emerald Triangle", where most of the illegal cannabis in the U.S.A. used to be grown and has gone through intense upheaval due to the legalization of cannabis in California (everybody wants a piece of the monetary pie). Lurking behind the cannabis industry, legal or illegal, are the sobering statistics regarding the amount of missing people in the region, the number of unsolved murders, and other crime stats this documentary didn't delve into, and a Sheriff's Office that's more intent on the cannabis industry than anything else (they'll say it's because illegal grows are the root of all evil, however, taxation and money appear to have a lot more influence on their actions than the causation of crime). The documentary, also, exposes what happens when a way of life is obliterated in the name of progress.

How the Other 10% Live!
26 September 2018
It's an informative, yet light-hearted, series about how some very wealthy people (for the most part) had some incredibly unique homes designed and built for them. Piers Taylor is a renowned British architect who is informative, yet somewhat dry, and Caroline Quentin is an accomplished British actress who flips houses on the side and adds levity to the viewings; the two play off each other because one is seeing it from an engineering standpoint and one is seeing it from a prospective owner viewpoint. Regarding the architecture, I found them to be innovative and in some instances, astounding, however, I, also, paid attention to why the houses were built the way they were - if you're not interested in this aspect, there are plenty of visually stunning perspectives to look at and you can ignore the technical information. I will advise the prospective viewer that if you only prefer certain types of architecture, like Craftsman, Tudor, or Cape Cod for examples, then you won't really like this show because, as most of these buildings are relatively new (within the past decade or so), the compositions displayed are, chiefly, comprised of concrete, glass, water, and wood in non-conformist ways with an appreciation for nature a resounding theme. There is one piece of information lacking for the entire series and that is how much each property cost - there are hints at how exorbitant some became, but, they never let you in on the overall price-tags - you have to use your imagination!

Should Change the Title to "Hate-ish"...
18 February 2018
I used to really enjoy watching "Black-ish" - the writing was innovative and the cast was (and still is) stellar. I empathized with story lines highlighting major social occurrences and issues, and, as they mirrored my own thoughts and feelings, it made the series more relevant to me and that much more enjoyable to watch. I laughed wholeheartedly at the satire and looked forward to the next, new, episode each week. However, the series has evolved, and where it's gone is just plain mean. The show is supposed to be a comedy but it's turned into a scripted, serial bully. I pass, now, and think they should change the title to "Hate-ish" - it's a much more apt descriptor.

A Morose Tail...
5 February 2018
"45 Years", while beautifully acted, is a morose tale about a woman, who, after 45 years of being married to the same man, slowly realizes that her husband's life didn't just start when he met her - that he'd had a life that was completely different from their tan, bland existence, and, if not for a tragic accident, would have continued with. The movie trains an eye on what happens when the wife's self-important bubble is burst, and how, thereby, she learns more about her husband in a week than she did over 45 years of marriage.
