Tantas almas (2019)
Touching tale of a man's search for closure
Paced slowly, to help us absorb the surroundings and mood, this movie leaves you teary eyed. You see the beautiful locale and the river, the vastness of which stuns you, given that this is where the search happens.
You follow a man's search for the dead bodies of his 2 sons, facing countless obstacles and you feel it's futile at some point. But the man doesn't give up.
He sings songs, he remembers his sons so tender-ly and never gives up.
The actor who plays father was excellent.
The way he finally "chooses" his closure breaks your heart.
Beautiful, slow film which feels so natural and true.
Le Miracle du Saint Inconnu (2019)
Average watch
With a premise as interesting as this, it could have been a better movie.
Its tad difficult to believe many elements in the movie and it doesn't feel realistic.
The springing of an entire village where there's no water and much "business".
People getting gold teeth made in such a place!
Homes with gold embroidered cushions and water (in such a desert).
The characters do not evoke empathy or much humour though there is certainly scope.
Good in parts but doesn't come together as a harmonious film.
Watched it at a Film fest and din't live up to the hype it created.
