It's bad. Like real bad. But if you're a fan of terrible slashers... a 7
27 October 2020
I don't write reviews. So I thought I'd let you know, if you like corny slashers, this'll kill an hour and a half. It's really awful tho. The story is so stupid for a Texas Chainsaw movie. It's about decent for the first half. Then it gets really absurd. The acting gets real bad too. But if you're like me, you'll stick it out. My least favorite of the series, definitely. But it's like "I've seen all the others. Might as well finish this one."

Great movie until the end - Spoiler is minimal if anything at all
31 December 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I will simply say this: The movie was fantastic-ish. Good laughs, powerful writing. I was impressed the entire time. And then I looked and there was only seven minutes left. Assuming the credits were at least four minutes, I realized either something crazy is going to happen, or nothing is going to happen at all. Nothing happened. I would barely call the end of this movie an ending. Unless it's setting up for some crazy, vigilante, shoot em up sequel. But based on the writer/director's previous work, I doubt it. I seriously sat for a few minutes just thinking, "Well that was bullshit." I hope that doesn't spoil anything but I will list this review as having spoilers for those who get butthurt way too easily.

Funny, but not the original. Not gonna be an ass about it though.

If I were to have seen this without seeing the original first, I would've enjoyed it. But the relationships between the characters in this version don't quite hit home like the original. Also, personally, I don't like Patrick Brammall playing an American, when I've seen him in the same role as an Australian. It just doesn't feel right. As a remake, it's solid. The comedy is on point. I saw a review that said something to the effect of "It's just banal chit chat." That is what this show is, the original and this remake. But I would honestly recommend watching the original over this. I think this version may succeed, but right now, it doesn't feel like it has the heart of the original. But this early on.... who knows what will happen.

It's not BBT, but don't be hateful
25 September 2017
I would've rathered give the show a 6.5, but that's not an option.

I didn't hate it but I'll be honest. This isn't Big Bang Theory. This is a show that would've never seen the light of day without the name "Sheldon Cooper" behind it. And, granted, tonight was only the pilot, but if it doesn't pick up, I'm betting it's dead in the water by next season.

If you were foolish enough to think you were getting something Big Bang Theory-esque, then you are simply that: foolish.

This show is going for a down home family vibe, showing the comedic situations created by having an absurdly intelligent child living in a very average household.

Unfortunately that kind of corny crap is everywhere.

As just a random show, I give it a 6.5 (rounded to 7.) As a Big Bang Theory "spin off," I'd give it significantly less. But you aren't reviewing it as a spin off. You are reviewing it as its own show. I say give it a chance. It has its moments
