Deadpool 2 (2018)
Its exactly like it should be Deadpool knows what it is and how it should act.
One thing I hate are reviews that are there just to swing the rating either really high 10/10 or just haters 2/10??? Really. Even if your a big fan of the comics or loved the first and wanted the same fuzzy feelings for this second outing and was disappointed... you can't rate it as 2 out of 10 or even below 5. Okay everyone has an opinion but some people just want to be heard no matter want the topic is, for them the film is i
Yes it's a blockbuster movie, and yes much more money was spent on it that the original but rightly so. The success of the first should allow the Writers and Producers a second shot with better backing from studios, Ryan Reynolds has done well with this series, there is no point comparing to Infinity wars or the DC series or all the X-Men back catalogue just judge the movie in front of you.
All the gags and style is back from the original which I liked, It's my sense of humour, there is a load of background gags and hints to the comic series and nods to other movies and the 4th wall gets broken numerous times like it should in a Deadpool kind of way.
The cinema was pretty busy for a mid week screening and there was loads of belly laughs and giggles throughout the length of the movie. I believe it was balanced well between giving the plot line something to cling to but allow the humour of the first and direct to not be bogged down to much by it.
It's suppose to be light, funny and sort of throw away in plot, I could easy sit down and watch this again and probably again, there are plenty of movies out there I couldn't say that to. Sometimes movies can be slowed and plot heavy to where it can kill it (Superman vs Batman maybe??)
Okay the characters can be a little sketchy in back story, but with movie goers complaining of long running times and drawn out sequences, I believe it's handled well here.
I think Cable is given enough screen time for us to care and enjoy Josh Brolin's acting prowess. In regards to the rest I believe the plot is a little light but enough to piece the sequences around. Firefist is okay as a Troubled mutant but I think his back story with the Headmaster is rushed and maybe could have been done better or differently, but that's really my only gripe.
The supporting characters are there with some good little cameos and gags, I try to not watch the trailers much so when the gags and action happened it was fresh and produced plenty of surprise and laughter. Along with wanting to see more of the character Domino, along with Cable in possible future features.
I'm 45, seen a lot of movies in my time and this is what this kind of movie is suppose to be. They've got it right, well done, bring on the next one, it's the funny end of the Comic world as it should be.
Serbuan maut 2: Berandal (2014)
Suspend reality and allow for comic book fight sequences.
Well , yes is a good film not a great film, yes it's non-stop and entertaining but I can't state it's the best ever or brilliant fight scenes. There is better out there. When fights are on a one to one basis this movie improves (especially the kitchen fight action near the end of the film). It's the group fights that let it down badly, okay so there loads of people they need to defeat or get past. It seems like the bad guys are all waiting in line for there turn to fight! Numerous times we see them running towards the hero in the background, 3,4,5 at a time only to have one attack and then another with the rest still running in from the background. It just takes the edge off the whole thing. Especially when some (*Sorry spoiler alert*) get hit by empty water cooler bottles which results in them being thrown to the fall in total agony unable to get up and fight anymore!? I'd prefer to have these stupid aspects taken out of the film, as it totally takes away from the rest of the action that unfolds. That and the rubber toilet at the start of the film just takes the shine off a clever and at times well made film.
Ronnie O'Sullivan's American Hustle (2017)
Could of been better
Just like to say firstly that I like the show but... it could of been so much better. The subject matter is good and the idea to take Ronnie to the land of Pool is a great one due to his undoubted talent in all forms of the green and blue baize. The problem was that is seemed a little too rushed due to the (less than an hour) format they had to squeeze the programme into. The places and factories they visited are interesting to the viewer but leaves you wanting more from the visit and more importantly from the Ronnie who was clearly enjoying himself.
Secondly as the whole point of the show was to play pool and hustle. The time where he is actually doing this, the viewer is left with only short out of sequence shots of both Ronnie and his opposition at the table. The viewer is left with no idea of how the games went without being told the out come by the voice over guy. As the balls on the table and the sequence in which they where potted was all over the place!
Again I know they couldn't spend the time showing a full game but maybe if a second series is possible, consideration should be made to this issue.
